Isn’t that the nature of captures vs models? captures the SVT again with the gain up a load to have a more gainy version?

Fender Jazz Bass 4 bolt maple neck (1973A). Quite a succesfull design... 😉 Black binding/blocks. Very old black over walnut finish (probably factory refin as they did in those days to comply with custom orders) white 3ply pick guard. Stackpole potmeters (1973), Fender pickups (1972). This bass has been refretted and a brass nut (a trendy repkacement in the late seventies/early eighties) is restored with a bone one. The bass plays perfectly with action as low as you wanna go. Pickup output is very powerfull. This beautiful thing really is as good as an early seventies Jazz Bass is gonna get and most certainly it won’t lose value either. A nice weight of 4000 grams/8.8LBS of groovy funky jazzy coolness. Looots of Geddy Lee , Chris Squire, Larry Graham and Marcus Miller vibes. Comes with (later) Fender case

Selling this lovely Bitmap in great shape with original box - it's basically mint apart of velcro. These received significant software update last year with additional clipping modes etc. Red Panda has also very convenient web editor for presets. Happy to trade (with price adjustments) for interesting dirt pedals. Bitmap occupies my "loose spot" for additional dirt in pedalboard and I'm just happy to experiment. Basic overdrive I'm covering with Capo. The ones I would love to try are EAE, Damnation Audio, Broughton, Bearfoot, Hiero etc. Would've thrown 3leaf in but what are the chances

bass_dinger started following Acoustic bass scale length

32" scale- Hobgoblin did a 5 string under their Ashbury range, with a Belcat preamp. It was in their catalogue for a while (but not now). I had one of the first batch off of the production line, having asked Hobgoblin if they could start making them. The B string was a bit dull and thuddy, compared to the E to G strings. Body was the same size and shape as a Lowden O series guitar and easily manageable as a gigging instrument. I played both that 5 32" string, and a 34" Washburn 34" for years, before I even realised that the scale lengths differed! 34" scale - Boulder Creek. My current acoustic bass. Surprisingly manageable for something of that scale length. Much more control of the tone from the preamp, which includes a phase inverter and a tuner. A set of Thomastik Infeld (spelling?) strings gives a rich B string with sustain that matches the other strings, and the authority to "own" the low end. I preferred this bass - it was all-round a better instrument. Only the Covid19 lockdown stopped me playing it in my acoustic band (and it is now for sale on Basschat...).

How was your gig last night?
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to bassninja's topic in General Discussion
Just in from a gig. I dep for this rock band and the gig was at a pub I've never been to before. Parking was ace. Double gates into a spacious yard and a short load in through the back door. These small things make a gig so much nicer. I set up and did a line check. Despite everything being on its usual settings, the bass sound was monstrous. Maybe too loud I thought. It was a raised stage and hollow as far as I could tell. I use a cab isolator anyway, but the sound was HUGE. The opinion from those out front was that it wasn't too loud, so I left things as they were. Truth be told, I'm not a massive fan of most of the songs this band do. If I never play Long Train Running and Play That Funky Music again, it will be day too soon! The said, I did get to play Black Velvet for maybe the second time ever and that sounded great. I take repeated calls of 'one more song' after the encore as a good night. We left it at that. For the most part my signal line was: Shuker JJ Signature Precision > Darkglass Microtubes 900 v2 'Euryale' > Barefaced Big Twin Gen III Some effects were sporadically deployed. -
Just back from another outing at the Reivers Sports Bar in Galashiels. A bit quieter than last time but we still had a few folk up and dancing. It was someone's birthday, so the Altered Images song made an unscheduled appearance. This was the first gig since I added the Thumpinator to the pedalboard and it made a hell of a difference. Tone was much more punchy and clear. Deffo money well spent. Rig: Sterling Stingray 5, Eden WTX264 into an Eden 210 cab. Pedals as shown: Footwear by Primani:

Mine neither - it's pretty much gathered dust since this thread was posted. Maybe time to put it back to stock, curb the sentimentality, and find it a new home. -

The Piv in Stockingford, Nuneaton has got a great sounding room. The stage is only a step up and plenty big enough. They also sell a very nice cheese and onion cob - we get them as soon as we get there because they go quickly. I took the Sub-5 and it sounded great with the Stinger preamp. I really enjoyed playing it. I did have a tiny crisis of confidence on the doorstep and took my Sire as a backup, as the Sub hasn't been gigged much yet, but the Sire didn't come out of the case. The Sub is noticeably lighter and the neck is slimmer too. I'm really starting to like it. I do need to pop a few washers under the scratch plate though as the knobs are sitting a bit proud. (Note the tasty cob that I scoffed as soon as we finished) It was a little bit quieter than normal as we set up, but did fill out. I guess not everyone is a Eurovision fan, although it was on the TVs silently while we played. None more purple.

As like mine on the previous page and pretty well every post of that tour!

the track flesh and blood is very mik karn/japanesque but look at the dates ...who is influencing who here?

Sorry for your loss, but anyway. -
Just home. Pretty flat gig. We sold all the tickets, but not all the purchasers seemed to show up, as it looked light on numbers. Couldn’t really hear myself well, definitely had a few mind blank moments and our drummer wasn’t on his best. Another gig next Sunday afternoon/evening, but not looking forward to that as we’re using a dep drummer.

Stub Mandrel replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
Went to a gig tonight. Bass player had a Supernatural he's owned for 40 years. I said if someone told me a Jaydee into a Markbass I would have expected super clean funk, but he had a greatn if middley, bluesy growl. -
Springsteen has had a load of grief from Trump. Proves what a sound guy he is, if you ask me. I have a LOT of memories around 'The River'.

Have only just discovered this occurred 😞 saw him there about 18 months ago he still has it!

Yes. Not unusual a century ago! What glorious engraving. But the tuners are totally insane!
