  3. I was quite tempted on a few things there until I saw the additional fees - crazy!
  4. Bordering on Entwhistle territory! I bet you’ve got some gems in there.
  5. I really like them. They’re varied and can be punchy. The advanced drive is a really great, versatile dirt sound and is my favourite. I’ve often had the sense that what you’re describing comes from the clean blend, especially on a heavier drive pedals where the transient attack is more ‘distorted’ by definition. The me90b has a global blend which does that but it’s the same degree of clean blend for the whole unit.
  6. A bass jive you say!!! Oh man.
  7. Some of the guide prices for the guitars look quite reasonable, but you have to factor in mega-fans getting giddy and putting in silly bids and then you have to ad 32%+ in fees.
  8. 1) Glad you’re making progress 2) Slap on fretless is a lovely style 3) This thread is about slap on DB 👍
  9. I used to use a 110 for drop C, but I liked the resulting grunt and rattle. I know @Wolverinebass uses DR DDTs for lower tunings, they're excellent.
  10. Came out of a 1978 Precision that now has its original pickup back. Fantastic sounding, although I’m afraid I don’t know what the wind is. £80 including UK delivery. Cheers Si
  11. This is my most recent blue bass. These old Cort Curbow basses are pretty cool, I got the chance to work for Greg Curbow during the time that these instruments were designed, so I am biased. I bought a blue 4 string in exc. condition, but I'm a pretty big guy and it looked like I was wearing a belt buckle. The 5 string is a bit bigger, but still not a large instrument. It's lightweight and very comfortable to play. There is a 6 string version, but I don't believe that many were produced. I am on the lookout for one. I found this one on Reverb, it is pretty beat up, there was a slight crack on the peghead (at the E tuner) and the preamp didn't operate properly. I made a lowball offer and the seller accepted it. When the bass arrived, the box looked pretty and while taking it out of the box, I was impressed by how well the seller packed the bass. There was no case or bag. As I pulled the bass out of the last layer of packing, I noticed a few blue paint chips on the floor, after inspecting the body. I wasn't difficult to find the damage, the rim/top of the body where the controls are located, was badly damaged to the point of separating the the top from the rim, there were also cracks on the rim and the top in the control area. The only thing i could imagine causing this is dropping the box off a two story building and it landing perfectly on it's side, but who knows. I contacted the seller and fortunately he had purchased insurance on the bass before shipping, after sending him a bunch of detal pics, it ook a couple of weeks but Reverb offered me a partial refund that cut the price I paid to less than half of the original cost. I believe that I originally paid $240, shipped. I was more than happy with what took place. I took the pickup/preamp out, there was nothing wrong with the pickup, but I had an EMG 35P that I really like, it's a narrow split p design but it woiked with this bass. I added on a volume and tone. Eventually I will glue up the body, but as is the bass sounds great. The neck is in excellent condition, the action is low. I have owned a Blue Flower Presicion bass since 2006(?), it's totally stock, strung with old flats that I had taken off a vintage Fender bass. This is not my bass, mine is currently packed away with some other instruments that I'm saving for my kids.
  12. In my 25 year bass life - i got so much problems to learn slap. At first i tried Flea way and got it in elementary position. After 4 years i had a big period where i didn't need to play slap/pop bass, so i got to restart from zero. Last years i only played fretless where slap is not the best sounding style. About a half year ago i reset my main bass should be 5 string fretted and i tried to slap again, but dahh - i was a slut. I tried some youtube learning videos, but somehow it didn't work. 4 days ago i bought a book - ''Acid for a children'' - Flea life biography. There was some part telling that Flea once seen a black bass guitarist playing slap/tequinique. And he just wrote - I like it and i will learn it. And he said he did it. Today i took my 5 string Yamaha trb 5p II and tried to slap and somehow the elementary things got right. So now i decided to learn it very well and believe i will be able to do it.
  13. Oh no, these do look nice. I might be able to afford the Squier but probably not
  14. Do not get me started on these amps. Oops you already have. Many of them are based as is said earlier on chips amps like the TPA3255 and the TPA3116. These are single supply rail amps often driven by a laptop style "brick". The amps can go loud under the right conditions. For example the TPA3255 can reach high powers however you need to run them with a 48V+ power supply AND at low impedances. Under those conditions, the heatsink fitted is almost totally inadequate. In addition te headline powers quoted are at 10% distortion. This is unusable IMHO for bass.
  15. £250 anyone? Got to be a bargain - also happy to meet on the M5 too for a bit of fuel monies.
  16. I've been thinking about trimming down the number of basses recently.... Now I've seen this
  17. Would it no be a case of having to raise the 105 action slightly
