  2. The first VS5 Superlight with swamp ash. Not bad.
  3. I won't keep you in suspense Richard ๐Ÿ™‚ Scratch plate got pickups marked on then cut out yesterday afternoon. Did a wee bit tweaking this afternoon then when I was happy everything sat nice I switched on the soldering iron. 4 lipsticks in parallel, 250k pots and a 104 cap. Just the pickup heights to balance and the cling film to remove; might swap stings for something looser than Fender flats ๐Ÿ‘
  4. Now, I agree with 99% of your posts BUT not this one; music for me is about feeling and irrespective of all the total audio logic youโ€™ve talked, a big rig makes me feel good when I play and for me that beats the logic. My Mesa rig makes no sense acoustically but a lot of sense emotionally, and that what works for me, itโ€™s not an objective space after all ๐Ÿ‘
  5. Excellent, I'd like to try one of those. Here's my board...
  6. Pearloid material arrived and I got the jitters ๐Ÿ˜€ Get one chance cutting plastic, likelihood of failure was high ๐Ÿ™ Thought about ordering up a blank scratchplate, having a custom one cut, getting a pickup template made; anything to avoid cutting plastic ๐Ÿ˜ Stern talking to and I came to my senses. Scratch plate cut ๐Ÿ˜€
  7. It's for an Aria FEB electro-acoustic.

  10. Cool looking bass! One you would actually want to own and play. Mine was a short scale Vox. I think it was called a Clubman or similar. It had two surfy looking chrome covered pickups and an ashtray bridge cover. It got off loaded onto me by a school friend who had decided he wanted to play drums instead. I had not idea about scale lengths, truss rods, or intonation. I remember it being horrendously out most of the time but I had no idea how to fix it. After leaving that school band, I didnโ€™t touch a bass again until I was in my 60s, the experience was so traumatic. I definitely would not want to buy that bass back!
  11. The amp is in excellent condition - it's super quiet and has everything you need for great bass tone. Complete with EICH carry bag, power cable and Speakon cable. According to EICH "The ultra-compact T-series amps stand out by their power, punch and drive. You will experience every nuance of your playing in a totally new and distinct way โ€“ completely unaltered but with lots of punch, just the way you like it. The well-balanced four-band tone control suits all musical styles with a perfect sound. The โ€œTASTEโ€ control allows you to emphasize the tonal characteristics of your instrument โ€“ everything between a wiry mid-boost, a bold slap and an ultra-fat Reggae or Motown". Jacks for FX loop, Tuner Out, Line Out, Line In and a transformer balanced pre/post switchable DI Out with ground lift lets you connect the T-series to the outside world. T-series amps are ideal for travelling around the world thanks to their voltage switch that allows operation at 230 or 115 volts 50 โ€“ 60 Hz. 12. At last, someone else with an acoustic bass bo... Hang on, is that an acoustic bass rather than an upright?
  13. I've not seen that before, looks rather good. Waiting with interest....
  14. Same here, you canโ€™t beat it, if I had the space (which Iโ€™m working on) Iโ€™d have the biggest Ampeg rig I could get
  15. Main purchase was lipstick pickups. I had 3 in the drawer for an un-yet started Dano build. Buying a 4th was complicated, the 3 Dano lipsticks came from Ali-Ex several years back so the chances of finding a matching 4th were slim. I also had a slight concern regards polarity. Artec came to the rescue by selling Strat lipstick pickups where the middle pickup was RWRP. 2 Bridge and 2 Middle were ordered. A wee play-about in Photoshop showed me just placing them next to each other wasn't going to work. What I really needed was 52mm between the top adjusting screws and 54mm between the bottom screws. Drawing on paper followed while I waited on the pearloid scratch plate material arriving.
  16. Had the main elements for the bass at hand. A Paulownia P-bass body and maple neck purchased from @tom1946 a year maybe 2 years back. The body is nice and light plus Paulownia is dead easy to work with ๐Ÿ‘ All I had to to was copy the scratch plate, cut out the pickups and a wee bit router work to the body.
  17. Yes, 100% agree with this ๐Ÿ‘
  18. Each to their own pal. You're not right and you're not wrong. You do you, I'll do me and the other guy can do him. All the above is great for you. I like a big rig so humbug to your response! ๐Ÿ˜œ
  19. Great stuff - Saw British Lion in Carlisle, so a bit of a shame they didnt come back for a 3rd tour ๐Ÿ˜”. I really enjoyed it. The new signature p sucks big time.

  21. From the album Trust, Bruce Thomas's bass part for Clubland Clubland.pdf
  22. I have no idea. I might email ZON
  23. Given my taste in P-basses runs counter to the norm it's no surprise those Italia basses from a few years back caught my eye. Pity I never got my hands on one and the ones I've saw recently have daft prices๐Ÿ˜• When faced with daft prices I went with my default setting of "I can do that" ๐Ÿ˜€
  24. For sale lovely birch green Fender player 2 i bought early this year and have recently been using this or P bass to see what fits what i'm doing and the P bass has won - for that middy growl. Have bought a Squire CV Jag as back up - so now this faces being an occasional bass and it's a great player, so should be someones to use. Made in Mexico these are now really good little basses. Great QC Had luthier sort the frets, which he levelled and ran glue under each to make sure they pinged and bevelled off the slightly rough edges, basically your getting a Plex job but done by the hands of someone with 40 years experience. So now with the rolled edge finger board, satin finish, it is great to play. Dark rosewood board, with maple neck, the body colour looks even better IRL. Weighs about 8.5lb but balances great. So lightweight and versatile. Strung with new Ernie Ball Super Slinky 40-100 - very nice action. Very useable pickups. Comfortable bridge for palm muting. Priced to sell - collect from Clitheroe or meet up or can post to UK in box for ยฃ20
