Gunsfreddy2003 started following Suggestions for passive DI box
-
Evening all, Looking for suggestions and recommendations for a good passive DI box for use with bass - I've looked at the Radial JDI but it seems quite pricey for a simple DI box. Happy to hear any other suggestions and alternatives please. TIA.

Woods chosen were a big slab of flamed ash for the body, flamed maple and ovangkol for the neck (7 piece laminate) and wenge for the fretboard. Usual glue up pics!

benh started following New build: 5 String Multiscale
-
Well - after a rather lengthy hiatus due to work/family/mental health and all that jazz, had the wood kicking around for this for ages so decided it needs doing. Decided to go full DIY (sans hardware) - winding my own pickups and making a preamp! Doing this as more of a "proof of concept" than anything else, as I've never built a multiscale bass before, or indeed put a preamp together. Bit late posting as most of the process is done now, but hopefully is of interest to someone! First of all, as always I spent a good few evenings designing in Inkscape, here were the results:

Hey Sean, yes - I was chatting to the new owner earlier - He was saying that most of the original SUBS have tatty necks where people have misguidedly tried to strip the gloss paint off. This particular example played like a demon. It was a very nice bass.

That's lovely, Richard. There were a few times back in the day where I nearly bought one... They were an absolute gem for the money. The likes of these don't exist anymore.

Received a brilliant loom for my P bass project, incredibly easy to follow the instructions and a huge improvement. Thanks!

I've just sold a Hƶfner gigbag to Jarrad, and the transaction was a delight from start to finish. Very happy, and very happy to recommend him to Basschatters who might be dealing with him in the future.

I had the bass version, because it also had guitar amp sims. The Marshall sim was particularly good. I thought some of the FX were excellent, the chorus, delay, and the simple but effective compressor.

Dood started following Bass amp for acoustic band setups

And if you're looking for an amplifer with a suitable feature set then I recommend the Bergantino B|Amp (second time I've mentioned it today!) as it has high pass and low pass filters along withe a feedback destoryer (handy for acoustic instruments) and an fulllly parametric 4 band EQ rather than being forced to use what a manufacturer says you should have for your EQ. Oh and there was one for sale recenty in the ads section too.

Thanks. I did try that but it didn't produce the desired results.

Leftbass started following Fender Jazz 2007 Electron Blue
-
Very nice bass but surplus to requirements. An unusual colour for us leftys', Electron Blue. 2007, Alder body, Rosewood on Maple neck. Original pickups but the bridge gave way so I replaced it with a high mass one. I have a white pearloid scratchplate that came with it included. Not my cuppa! Great sounding, I used it mainly for a Paul Rodgers Trib and the bridge pickup is smooth and tight for those lines. All in all it's a rare thing and hope someone wants to look after it. I will include a Hiscox case for safe travels. Had it on ebay and I thought I'd sold it but the guy was very strange and hasn't followed through on the bid. Beware the 0 feedback rating! I would consider a trade for a Fender Precision (only) of equal quality , ie Player models or Mexican (If thats allowed) Thanks, Paul

Ive used four different wireless systems over the years and they've all seemed to suffer from some distortion (not the nice kind) particularly when digging in with high output basses. I was gigging last night with a passive jazz (quarter pounder pups) and even with that I noticed it a couple of times when playing hard over the bridge pickup. I'm wondering if this a 'thing' with wireless systems that we just have to live with or whether it's just the systems that I've used and need to splash out a bit of dosh on something better. So far I've used a Senheiser Freeport, Line6 G30, Xvive and currently on Lekato WS50. I'd be interested to hear your opinions and learn from your experience. Cheers.
