  2. I recently upgraded to a proper Höfner hard case, so this very well-made and protective gigbag is now surplus to requirements. As you’ll see from the pix, it’s in mint condition (it’s been out of the house probably fewer than a dozen times) and is really well padded, perfect for any of the Höfner violin basses – the proper 500/1, the 500/1 HCT or the Chinese-made Ignition – or indeed for the 500/2 Club basses. The current Artist Line bags have a slightly different design, as they don’t offer the handy net pocket on top of the main storage pocket, which itself is big enough for a laptop, iPad or A4 sheet music, plus cables, tuner, etc. Thomann retail the current model at £48, so this is a bargain at £30, plus postage – I have a perfect box – or you can collect from Mapperley in Nottingham (tea and biscuits always available!).
  3. Hi! Up for sale YAMAHA TRB6 II PRICE 1500€ Comes with HARLEY BENTON case. Located un Riga (Latvia) Shipping around EU (at the buyer's expense) IMG_9738.mov
  4. I bought this awesome pedal from @Dons of this parish a few weeks ago (who I thoroughly recommend if you find yourself doing business with him), but I’m moving it on as it’s rather too big for use on my desk when cabled up, and bought a much smaller plastic Chinese one instead. The replacement would never withstand gigging use, but does the job in my home studio. The RC20XL, on the other hand, is built like a tank and can be used for looping vocals as well as your bass, because it has a manual anmicrophone input. It’s boxed and comes with all the bells and whistles, including the manual and a very useful library of backing tracks on CD. You can use it mono or stereo and also link it to up to three footswitches – very useful add-on - using the very popular/common FS-5U or the dual FS-6. Liran (Dons) has very kindly allowed me to use his original post and pix, as nothing has changed since I bought it from him, and I’m selling it on at the same price I paid, £70 plus postage. Collection from Mapperley in Nottingham also available, with free tea and biscuits! I can tuck in a spare FS-5U footswitch, if you want it, for an extra £15 (s/h ones usually go for about £20 on Fleabay). I’m afraid it didn’t come with a power supply, but it uses six (6!) AA batteries, which I’ll throw in for free.
  5. Selling my Ashdown CTM-15 and C110 cab. Collection in Harrogate, or meet-up can be arranged in the general area. I bought this new about 10 years ago. It's barely been used in that time, and even then, only used for home practice. The grill cloth is damaged superficially, as per the pics, and I think this was caused by a cat! From Ashdown: While the Ashdown CTM-15 tube bass amplifier head is all about big valve tone in a tiny package that's perfect for recording, the Drophead version gives you that power ready to go in a compact combo format, teamed with a striking 1x10” cabinet that's tuned for use at home or in the studio. Low power, big sound Plug in and lay down a few bass lines through the Drophead 15, and you won't be the first to wonder "Wow, is that really only 15 watts?". The Drophead 15 delivers deceptively large tones from its dual EL84 power stage, and it's low wattage means its easier to get red-blooded overdrive by driving it hard – all without shaking the foundations. Whether the session needs big fat clean tones or growling, overdriven bass, the Drophead 15 has you covered. Find the sweet spot fast with the VU meter display Like all similarly equipped Ashdown's, the CTM-15's analogue VU meter isn't just there for show. Giving an instant accurate display of your power amp's output the CTM-15's VU meter let's you quickly find your amps sweet spot – where the magic really happens. Flip it up – rip it up Dropheads are cool. When you're ready to play, simply un-clip the top, flip the amp head into position, clip it back down, plug in and let the tone come forth.
  6. Bredon Cider Fest 2025, Jagged Little Alanis (www.jaggedlittlealanis.co.uk) headlining Friday night - this is a wonderful small festival with a big feel when you're onstage. The crowd are great, no lairiness, everybody happy as anything. Cider selection (and beers) was outstanding, food was good, and neither was extortionately priced. A great example of a well run fest, getting in and out was easy and seamless. They ran like clockwork and the sound guys were excellent, even though they'd come on board late in the game and didn't get the spec sheet (which is extensive for the band). The wig was a £10 TEMU job, it's surprisingly good haha Video is of the crowd singing the first verse. Ends abruptly as I suddenly realised I had to get my arse in gear on bass! Tribute acts aplenty (really good ones!) over the 2 days, such a great little fest. IMG_3761.mov
  7. GR Bass One 350 ordered today. Thanks to everyone for their invaluable thoughts and suggestions. I’ll let you know how I get on!
  8. I've depped now for a good 20 years, with increasing amounts in the last 10 years or so. I've done a couple of weddings already this year, and even had to turn a couple of last minute ones down last Saturday or risk being treble booked. This setlist is so familiar, and that's a good thing! Also - they've given you great key information. Excellent work. I think the key things which help me feel comfortable when depping, in no particular order, are: I play a lot of jam nights. Those songs - those core function band songs - these get played a lot. That helps keep them fresh. I make notes on iPad and have these on a mic stand in front of me. I'm using Gig Notes now but I was using OneNote. The notes are a sort of evolved shorthand shorthandbnotes with basic chord sequences and cover the gotchas like where the key is different, and include the chords in the right key. I try to keep them to a single page if possible, and note any silent bits or modulations / middle 8 weirdness. This really helps for songs I haven't played before. I might include a small piece of notation for some bass figure which *really* matters to the song. A lot of the bands who need a dep are playing standard sets and play them a lot. They'll be great, and that's half the battle when dipping - you need a solid drummer who is picking out something familiar to latch on to, ditto for at least keys or guitar. I always make sure I can hear myself well. I'm actually building a small personal monitoring system which will split the DI from my bass so I can feed a pair of in-ears, and I'll mix the ambient level separately, so I can use those if required (you find out pretty quickly during soundcheck if the band are balls-out) I get to the venue early so there's less stress full stop. I like to help break everything down - it's the right thing to do, and people will remember that you pitch in and don't just blow in, play, and vanish. I bring the bass I'm most familiar with, which I know is the easiest to play. That matters for comfort and confidence. Hope those help. It's a fun thing to do: I'm actually on a pretty large FB bassist-only messenger group which shares deps between bassists and there have been some great ones on there!
  9. Transparency alert: I bought this in an auction a few months ago, when I was on the lookout for a P to mod as a backup for my Shuker JJB, but I’m not going ahead with that project now, so it’s surplus to requirements. The pickup has never been used, as far as I can tell, and still has the clear plastic protecting the covers – see pix – and comes with fixing screws and wiring diagram, as shown. Judging by the YT video I’ve linked to, it creates a really warm, rich and deep tone, but as I’ve never used it, I can’t really provide direct observations. These are around £135 new. Get yourself a bargain for £70 collected (from Mapperley in Nottingham – free tea and biccies!) or £75 posted. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4wgZIfZMFE&t=28s&ab_channel=Fender
  10. Line 6 HX Stomp - £400 Delivered in UK. Purchased from Andertons in June this year and in pristine condition with box and cable, PSU, manuals. I will also include the dedicated Protection Racket case which was part of the Andertons special offer at the time. Potential buyers are welcome to try out in Glasgow.
  11. Could have done. I think the seller is a bit of a flake, but if the bass is relisted it’s probably going to be a good deal.
  12. Earth, Wind and Wire...
  13. Once had a Lakland DJ5, mainly used for home use, it had awful hum so I took it back to the dealer. He played with it all day, couldn't find a problem with it so I took it back and said I'd give it another go. Turned out to be a particular light fitting in my bedroom..........d'oh.
  14. Just discovered this one, was following along with baited breath waiting for the finished article, but the photos stopped working on page 7! Argh!
  15. Good to hear, cheers matey. I can definitely hear the loss of low end from mis-matched impedance if I ever plug straight into an amp - so I fear the same plugged into low impedance wireless. My Line6 acts like a pre-amp between piezo and amp, and I get a richer warmer sound because of it. I'll let you know if the Joyo compares favourably! I take your point about aluminium/rock and roll etc 😁! But I do find that having a good rich signal to start with can make a real difference to EQing and cutting through mix.
  16. Darkglass have released a video demonstrating the new blocks. I have to say, the Sansamp and Big Muff sound great.

  18. The bass on the right has a far worse offense going on: laminations in the center of the body to imply a neck-through-body construction, when in reality there is a bolt-on neck - and it's not even laminated the same as the body core! Can't stand it.
  19. Hi, anybody heard about an old "by shadow k & m holstein's 101 pickup
  20. Who judges whether they are well made and high quality?
  21. Best bass filter on the market IMHO, good price too! Si
  22. Sadly a judge will have to go by the guidelines and it is likely that all of his past, spent convictions won't be taken into account because of the timeline. TBH that is probably why he is being taken to court for such a small time frame; were they to actually act upon some of his actions documented on here, then he'd be in the realms of committing crimes whilst still serving his 2 year suspended! His solicitor has likely come to an agreement that they'll not contest the action if he is only tried for a small number of cases in a recent time frame!
