So we’re thinking of upgrading our PA. Current system is Behringer XR18, dBX DriveRack PA, an old pair of Peavey Pro 15 powered subs, and a pair of EV ZLX15P tops. As we’re all using in-ears now, and with most of us having the gear to go amp-less, we’re thinking of going down that route. The band is a southern rock five-piece (2 x guitar, bass, drums, fiddle) and we play everything from small pubs to largish clubs. I’m looking to get a good solid kick drum and get increased vocal headroom as we, on occasion, run out of headroom. There is lots of chat on here about how to get a great sound with minimal kit, but if you had a budget of £5k, what would you buy? To give you a steer, I’m old school, so I don’t see us going out without subs, and I’d not rule out going back to passive cabs if it reduced the weight of each individual element as we’re all getting on these days.

Cheapo instruments, maybe Korean brand, from 90's?

Is it possible to change the pitch on a set neck?
WillyPete replied to WillyPete's topic in Repairs and Technical
Thank you. Just the straight advice I’d need. saw a beautiful Aria Ric copy but the neck had a very exaggerated positive pitch. I guess if I really needed to get it I could convert the glued neck to a bolt in. -

Preferd it in the colour announced last year Unlike how un-niche it was when the first one came out in 1979? Think it looks great, hopefully I can get a several second hand version of the production version at some point!

Bought in the hope i could get away with 30 all valve watts but unfortunately not. Brand new JJ EL84’s fitted and comes with a spare set of EH valves. Really nice amp and tone to die for - if i could have this tone with more power id be in heaven! Collection from Bolton or could do a meet up. Could cut a deal if you want the ABM 4x10 ive also advertised on here. Would consider part ex for a Cali 76 Bass compact

I went in there last month and the Sire Z 5 bass I tried was pretty good but the bass selection overall was a little underwhelming. Anyhoo...welcome aboard. Try to avoid the market place if you want to stay solvent.

If you go back in time, he used to play, but for an unknown reason, he stopped, preferring to let others do this job.

Fair enough! I did not see this. I agree with your latter point that it's a first edition with a production run coming later.

I have been offered a Vester acoustic bass in a trade for my Ibanez short scale bass. Does anyone know anything about Vester. I have never heard of that brand

To the point where I sometimes wonder what these individuals have been smoking.

Normally we work in batches of five over four weeks although interest is such that I will see if it's possible to stretch it to six per batch We are a small boutique workshop and composite necks are one of a few lines of work carried out mostly around neck maintenance and repair. From this Wednesday (October 1st) to next Wednesday (October 8th) there is a week long public holiday so you should probably allow for five weeks if the deposit is recieved today. Shipping costs are very competitive - I would need your address information to provide a firm quote but as a guide, its 277RMB to the US (prepaid duty) and 390 RMB to the UK. So, depending on the logistics chain, expect somewhere around 390RMB to Italy - hopefully it will be less given Italiy is part of a bigger continent. Postage can vary but allow up to 15 days door to door and I'll confirm prepaid duty is possible on the shipping closer to the time so no need for customers to faff about with customs Yes, and not only that but if the work isn't started within 30 days of recieving the deposit then I will offer the option of a peace of mind refund. I also like to post weekly updates on here of the work in progress just so people are kept up to speed and can see that their order is being taken forward. Without the trust of customers, this operation wouldn't be feasible so I strive to protect that.

The EVO IV ABMs are brighter than the III I have, and for kicks I put an 1958 RCA Gray Plate valve in and it did sweeten it up very nicely. The Ruby/JJ was noticeably brighter (harsh some might say, depending on the cab), and just had a little less 3D texture to it in some ways. The JJ is great in the III and suites it very well, but the RCA was a very nice addition. Was considering a reissue Mullard and ran across a great deal on the RCA which was NOS and tested almost like new.
