  1. Past hour
  2. Yessir! You don't want to know how much I payed for this, it was a steal!
  3. Thanks @ead! These were indeed MIM. @wateroftyne: Weight (according to this bass bros advert) Weight – 9lbs7oz/4.3kgs
  4. What @tubbybloke68 said. I rarely need my second Monza but it is nice to have it for outside gigs to provide masses of clean headroom. It looks cool too.
  5. people pay extra for the relic look 😉 not me, send it back. pretty shocking that it would be sent out in that state.
  6. Thought I'd find an old D'Angelo clip.
  7. decent amps have them built in; certainly don't need one with my PJB kit.
  8. Yes - I use a pitch shifter all the time to cover off singer requests to "do this one x semitones up/down" - I ain't relearning songs, and I'm no getting a 5 string either!
  9. I personally don't de-tune strings mid set - too much "dead air time", so it's been a case of learning songs in a different key or using a pitch shift pedal, which I've generally tried to avoid until now as I've found they had too much warble/latency and the XS-1 certainly does a better job than my multi-fx. Hopefully opens up more of our set for our alto lead vox to have a crack at (the other two who front the band are mezzo sops).
  10. Do you have any way to accurately measure the hole this needs to fill? If you can give me an accurate internal and external diameter, and the length, it shouldn't be too hard to make some plastic bushings on my lathe.
  11. Bought this as ive always wanted to try the big box Cali76 pedal and reviews state this is extremely similar and a much lower premium. Worked wonders on beefing up my Rickenbacker and helping with the hollow sounding E strings rics are famous for. A genuinely superbly engineered piece of kit. Price includes UK postage. Would consider trades/part ex for a Sansamp programmable DI or the VT deluxe version (the 3 or 4 channel jobs)
  12. Oh, very cool. Is it useful to avoid having to detune then?
  13. Enjoy! I'm already liking mine a lot! Have got it connected up to an expression pedal for a bit of whammy fun which doubles up as a more accessible on/off on my board. I bought it primarily for detuning duties but, as others have said, it's very probably the best octave up pedal currently around (certainly for the price) and is opening up 8 string opportunities with my crew ("yeah you can stop doubling up the bass line now!") which should allow us to fill out the sound further.
  14. Light My Fire - The Doors
  15. With a parallel loop, you're only applying it to part of the signal (probably 50%) and the un-EQd signal will still be getting through. My guess is that the signal sounds fatter and fuller with the EQ off when in the loop, because your EQ is filtering out the things that make it sound fat and full in the first place. Some Markbass amps (for sure, the LM2 and LM3) had an internal jumper that allows you to change the loop from parallel to serial. That means you get the whole signal modified, at the expense of getting complete silence if the effects chain fails. The other thing to be aware of is that most effects loops are designed to work with line-level voltage equipment (think rack effects) whereas most stomp boxes work at instrument level voltage. So they may not work properly, may require gain changes, or they might be absolutely fine. And with house amps, not only do you have to worry about whether they have loops, you also have to find out whether they're serial or parallel. My experience is effects loops on bass amps are best avoided altogether, unless you have something like a rack-mounted DBX 166 studio compressor and want to apply it to the whole signal, all of the time.
  16. And not on her regular job, what a traitor!
  17. Why are you looking to replace the tuners? Not being argumentative, just trying to get an idea of where you're heading with this.
  18. Today
  19. I took down my bass from the wall behind me, and spent a good ten minutes trying it out 'your way', until it finally clicked what the 'issue' was. I wondered for a while exactly how you were tuning your basses to get those notes, but then the 'light bulb' moment came, and all became clear. I don't know who's the dafter of us two, you or me..!
  20. Bought it on the way down the road to the SW Bass Bash on Saturday. Tried it out in the Guitarguitar in Birmingham and really liked it so I decided to carpe that diem - not getting any younger! Was too busy to do anything with it until I got home on the Monday - played around with it on the Monday night, put it on the board (replacing the TC Electronic Brainwaves) last night so I thought I should issue this update in the thread where people care about such things
  21. £80 including postage. Excellent condition. Velcro on underside.
  22. Ridiculous. I made a JJ Mustang from a Bronco for less than half that price. Ok, the MIJ one has better pickups, hardware, electronics and general workmanship, but apart from that..
  23. Wish I could get a rehearsal. For the past 2 years I've done nothing but gigs where I'm sent a set list on Whatsapp a few days before and everything is on a wing and a prayer.
