  1. Past hour
  2. It is though. And they downgraded the tuner, to keep the same cost, for pickup switch and associated extra labour.
  3. Sounds close to a modern C Precision based on the '63 necks with the 1.625" nut width. They are very comfortable necks. Love that Antigua Burst, too.
  4. Seriously, some of those basses are so heavy (upwards of 12 pounds) they are painful to play even sitting down. They hurt your leg and cut off the circulation! The reissue Gibson did a few years ago was a bit of a travesty. The only thing it had in common with the original basses was the overall shape. Not surprising considering what a major undertaking it would be for Gibson to try recreate the Moog electronics ect.
  5. At the moment next up for me is Deep Purple at Hammersmith Whatever It’s Name is That Day in November next year.
  6. Just a bit of a shout out for Dawson's guitars as they gave fantastic service. Went there with a mate who wanted to get a Squier precision. Tried one in Dawson's then went over the road and tried the same model but we both agreed that the one in Dawson's just had a better feel to the neck. By the standards of the other instruments in the shop this was a cheap purchase (although a lot for my mate) but they were generous with their time and very helpful, even went to the effort of adjusting the action to suit. Amusingly, as they didn't have a suitable case we went over the road and one of the Dawson guys brought the bass so we could see it fitted. The bass guy in the other shop spotted us and asked why we didn't buy his one, to which we said the other one just felt better, to which he replied he said he would have adjusted the action but I said it wasn't that, it was just the neck felt better. As he wander off back to the basement (why are basses always in the basement?!) I could hear him mumbling in an annoyed voice 'i told them I would have adjusted it'. Quite awkward but also funny! Btw the Squier looks awesome in a flake gold finish and plays superbly. To my ears sounds good too but might benefit from a new pup at some stage.
  7. Awesome man, yeah they're great things. If the other doesn't sell I will build something 🤣
  8. Definitely more P than J - 42mm nut width, 12" radius. But not super chunky front to back, maybe a tad shallower than your typical P. It's no half baseball bat, put it that way. Very comfy (to me anyway)
  9. I Left My Heart In San Francisco - Tony Bennett
  10. I have a Sterling by Music Man SUB fretless - a conversion from a fretted (by having a fretless fingerboard installed). Sounds amazing with the Retrovibe preamp and Nordstrand pickup.
  11. I'm trying to fit a new EMG P pickup to a Warwick Adam Clayton bass with no success. I followed the accompanying diagram but still no luck? Another issue is the EMG output jack is a lot smaller than the stock Warwick one it comes with. Any ideas?
  12. The neck isn't roasted, it's just coloured to resemble being roasted.
  13. Went in there many moons ago, and went to go upstairs - where they kept the 'nice' stuff. They weren't keen on me doing so. At the time I had Precision number 0189 and a 66 slab at home. Haven't bothered with them since, stuck up bell3nds.
  14. Nice job!
  15. Hi Matt - Stunning. Does the Triad have a P profile neck?
  16. I remember going in there back in must be the early 1990's and they had some lovely stuff in stock back then, Wal basses ect. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a very upmarket home counties vibe. I expect it's still pretty much the same. Long may they prosper.
  17. Completely new to me, never heard of them. Obviously some sort of knockoff. If it was closer to me I might consider going to see it. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/127516846179?itmmeta=01KAVBQ5CWNTWYC7BTFSG7P5ZK&itmprp=enc%3AAQAKAAAA4NHOg0D50eDiCdi%2FfP0r02t7klomnCKcuFxlFNrw5gr1qlTkM2bzUwOrEFcpNzaHzi%2BBtcDn8AXpMAzXaKnsApwovMFOnEa3ijkD2uosgepbOOu4wsAz2yEqgEyXINZwUJoR%2Feig43J%2BGCJbwHK8riMJDA%2B2XEBPrRg%2BZA0OGADrPj99XkH3WLKVY%2BCnnTbntKHJi%2B6zMt0%2BXTKasTWXxdpvlg0dEKbjVGCE%2FXzkjrCVojbpu%2F9GVEurC5O08g6eliUIMPKRg66Q61gcGZyJTRMi%2Fu1yFh8FFGkVIRqni96R|tkp%3ABk9SR8jW3OvWZg
  18. Fight 4 Your Right - beastie boys
  19. I stuck a J pickup in my Lionel so the P pickup is the Fender way round. Just with a 3 way switch. I pretty much never use the bridge pickup alone on it, but the P+J is very useful.
  20. Still Ill - The Smiths
  21. All Too Well - Tay Tay
  22. I've not seen a PJ Lionel, or I'd likely have bought it! But yes, the P pickup often seems to be the other way round in PJ basses in general. It does seem more sensible, as you say.
  23. Just a quick shoutout re the above. Many shops/chains have gone recently, and many of those left have a few token basses at best, not these guys though, a great selection and very good customer service.
  24. Bought my book. Perfect transaction - recommended!
