Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!
pantherairsoft replied to dudewheresmybass's topic in Effects
Sounds a lot like a Boss Slicer, or at least some kind of harmonic rhythmic tremolo. This is a pattern on the original 2 pedal slicer (not sure it it's on the new smaller one, as lots of the patterns changed) that sounds exactly the same, so that's where my money is! -
I have a EHX Headphone Amp... more durable than those VoxAmp plug things, it works well after pedals etc. But is very sterile as no cab sim etc. https://spartanmusic.co.uk/products/electro-harmonix-headphone-amp Artec used to do an On-Board headphone amp, but again sound like an instrument, not an instrument into an amp, cab, in a room. Zoom B1 or B4 - The Can be as Complicated as ya like, Simple Quality Solution.

Always wondered what the cable going from the input over to the rear of the amp was for. 🤷♂️

Ok but he is clearly on top of the fret. @lvrossem hold the note down for as long as you want it to sound / it sounds naturally before buying and then release it faster. I keep my finger on it a moment longer to stop it ringing.

The Stingray thing? A brother from another mother there, Lozz, I bought three over the years just to be doubly, trebly sure...and I was right. Still don't like Jazzes, tho, but every bass I have has a Jazz width neck, so there's that. I bought an Alembic, an Overwater and a Sei (not all at once, I'm not made of money, it was over a couple of years) just to see what the fuss was about, and I didn't like them much...at least they're the sort of thing that if you buy carefully secondhand you can move on without losing much money for the experience...

From the Jam in weymouth, we went and sat in the hall outside, where it was quite a good volume. In your position, seeing as I am wireless I would have probably gone and stood outside, maybe the levels were better there!

Get on AliExpress and search "waterproof plastic case", usually something suitable. Most of the expensive camera cases and Pelican alternatives you see for sale are just rebranded generic boxes. Thomann have the TE1200 listed as 305 x 305 x 92 mm so shouldn't be too difficult finding something to fit. If you just want a bag then the Gator 1212 should be fine: https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/gator-medium-bag-12-x-12/

My view of bass teaching is jaundiced by my experience several years ago. "I've been playing for decades but I want to tidy up my technique." "Lets focus on learning the fretboard." 🙄
-
I've watched a few of those SBL videos too Luke, I was trying to get good synth sounds with my B3, now I also have a GP-5. Maybe you're right, but it's more a resource for those that have found tones that work for them in a particular style (with chains of effects or maybe a NAM file etc) can share them, rather than a discussion. For example... https://www.tone3000.com/tones/noble-28182 is a forum for sharing NAM tones, rather than discussing the ins and outs of them.

Same here, on my Ashdown RM500. More than once! And more than twice!! I`ve now typed up an instruction on that Dymo ticker-tape stuff and stuck it on the front panel saying to check the mute button if no sound.

Not quite, it's short scale 29" but the difference isn't too noticeable.

I bought a flight cased Peavey 215. The seller helped me load it into my hatchback, but when I got home I found it was so heavy I couldn't get it out of the boot!! In the end a neighbour had to help. I was very red faced after this one. There were 2 gigs, one was called Blues On The Farm and the other was called Blues At The Farm. I went to the wrong one! I turned up at Blues On The Farm in Billericay to discover I was the only person there. The band was waiting for me at Blues At The Farm, in frigging Chichester, 156 km, a 2+hr drive and 4 counties away!!!! It was a festival and fortunately the 2 bands after us were already there and didn't mind going on early!!

Yup, I’ve always left it as ‘I’m the sound man’ and sometimes I need a little more without tweaking the desk. And the desk is set for me to have the stomp at 12 o’clock generally. Possibly need to rethink that logic…

I disable the volume knob for this exact reason!

Scott's bass lessons is very good, you'll learn a lot there but if i were you I just would take a couple of lessons to start up from a good teacher. When i started on bass there wasn't internet and I started with a bad teacher.. I took lessons for half a year before i realised this teacher wasn't very good.. So i found another teacher and it seemed i had learned a lot the wrong way. Do I had to unlearn that and learn good techniques. So to learn more efficient, find yourself a teacher (at least for the beginning) and just continue with Scotts bass lessons. Have fun, keep on practicing and good luck!! :)

My HX Stomp ‘died’ during a gig. Lights on but no output. 3 songs left so pulled my cable out and went straight to the desk (small pub, no back line). Spent the rest of the gig wondering how expensive it was going to be, and then how I was going to replace it for the wedding gig we had the following weekend. Got home, had a sleepless night, but in the morning realised I’d pushed the volume down when I put the tuner on! 🤦♂️. Did make me realise that a ‘spare would be a good idea!
