  1. Past hour
  2. Great basses and huge value. Will the value stay high? Honestly, I doubt it will stay at the current crazy levels. However, if you can buy around the 5k mark you should be fine. I bought mine used (top of the range spec) for £4k about 10 years ago and sold it recently for £11k at the top of the market. No way that price level can be sustained.
  3. I'm really keen to try one of these. As a fretless bassist who very much has the typical 80's Pino/Giblin tone with chorus and octave, I'm super interested in seeing how clean and defined something like the Monza will be. I'm a very melodic bassist, even cello like in places and I play with a gentle drummer with brushes and shakers and an acoustic guitarist. So I'm after a very clean, rich tone. I like my Barefaced Two10 but I find it has a more vintage tone and lacks something and I have used other cabs/combos that I've preferred tonally. The weight, size and power is also perfect as a gigging rig for my setup.
  4. Until recently, 5 string PJ sets were hard to come by. The new Euro CST series has a 5 PJ set though! Of course, in any other Spector 5 - should you wish, you can swap the soapbar humbuckers for Reverse P & J EMGs in soapbar housing.
  5. Everyone everywhere speaks English because we can't speak anything else. I can't even speak Welsh and I am a Welshman.
  6. SOLD
  7. I asked Andertons and they said end of September, Guitar Guitar website says the same.
  8. I just sold a WL-20 wireless setup to Gareth. A smooth transaction, no problems.
  9. Tell them that 'Spector bassist Gary' sent you. They'll look after you!
  10. P.S - as you can see ive fitted a bridge cover. The thumbrocker thumb rest will be removed before sale and will leave no trace as this is a drop in mod. Very sunny here so anything other than the aforementioned dent will sun sun glare. More pics to follow once ive cleared space
  11. Two monzas stacked would make a great gigging setup for most occasions but there are always times for more 😁
  12. Hoping to tap into the combined wisdom of the forum here. I'm loaning my PA out to a ceilidh band for a wedding gig tomorrow (Saturday 24th May) and one of the instruments is a double bass, I don't believe that they have a pickup fitted so my plan is to put a mic in front of it and hope for the best. I have a selection of mics available to me but i'm not sure which would be most suitable, the setup and soundcheck time is extremely short so i'm not going to have time to experiment. from the list of mics below which one would be the most suitable and what position/direction would be best? Red5 Audio - RV6/RV8/RV10 Rode - M3 Audix D6/i5 SE - X1 AKG - P4/D5 Shure - SM58 Beta Audio_technica - ATM10a this is the total list of mics that I can lay my hands on before the gig so i've got to pick one, so which one would you use? Thanks Matt
  13. Hi, I'm interested in buying a Wal Bass A used lefty the price off these basses has really hit the roof in the last year or so This is a Bass I would love to use with my band so I'm not really looking at an investment but rather hoping it will hold it's value Any help from Wal owners would be appreciated 👍 Thanks
  14. That's correct, Tal plays an MV (NYC) with the same woods combo, but with smaller body and no blocks and binding. Maybe with single coils as well? This Japanese Metro UV70 is very attractive, it's a hell of a bass, I'm surprised it's still here. GLWTS
  15. wow so similar - what serial number is yours? they can't be far between them
  16. @floFC I'll check my saddles when I'm back in Riga in 2 weeks' time, MY Anti CV P lives out there with my little Nux " amplug" until our wedding gig ( I treated myself) ho ho If anyone wants the patinated "Antigua" P scratchplate, it will shortly be up for dibs on the BC marketplace ( it is definitely 1 ply ). It's a standard 13-hole plate, so suitable for US or Mexican standards. ... I have swapped it for a nice 3 ply Black scratchplate to match the black blocks ... as double antigua was a bit much I think it looks fab now.
  17. I bought one back in 1998 from the Bass Centre when it was in Wapping. I had just signed a record deal and was given £5k to buy new gear. I bought a Musicman Stingray, a Hartke HA7500, a Harke 4x10 and a 1x15. I only had a little bit of money left and needed a second bass so I bought an all black Status Shark. I loved the look of it but I really didn't get on with it but that would be 100% down to me not knowing how to get the best out of it but it was a lovely bass and looked amazing.
  18. youth gone wild - skid row
  19. too much, too young, too fast - airbourne
  20. Recently bought some emg pickups from Brian, brilliant communication and delivered next day! Would happily deal with again
  21. That blue baffle looks really good! However, two Monzas is more than enough for anybody.

  24. Id say yes maybe you're right. Ive been looking up MIJ pickups from that time, and some had a ceramic bar magnet. It would explain the tone, which is quite bright with a strong output.
  25. Hi , I’ve got the pro version and I think it’s really good, I believe the difference is the pro has more amps, cabs and pedals to choose from, I’d say it’s worth the difference in price, others more knowledgeable will probably advise more, this thread might be helpful
  26. Do you have to translate the transcript for them ? 😂 Dave
