I don't think I've encountered one like that. I maybe need to pull more pickups apart.

wateroftyne started following Jazz pickup identification.. poss MIJ?

Hey gang! I'm just doing a bit of tinkering with a MIJ J... I've popped the covers off the pickups, and found these underneath, with round ends and square holes in the top. Anyone know if these are these generic MIJ J pickups? Ta!

Clarky started following Thomastik JR344 jazz rounds - bought today!

Bought these from StringsDirect for £69 to fit an old 70s Ric, which had previously been wearing TI jazz flats, as I wanted a little more bite to the sound. However, the super low tension (which is >10% lower than TI flats at 122 pounds) of the jazz rounds turns out to be too low to work with the peculiarities of the neck. The A/D/G are unclipped and essentially mint, the E silk is slightly clipped (a couple of inches) but would have no problem fitting well on a 4 in line as well as a 2+2 headstock. Enjoy my financial pain and grab these for £40 plus a few quid for post.

What about seeing if eg Charles Berthoud will give the updated VIP an IMA style review? Could be a game changer in terms of sales? Even better, get him to A/B it with the MXR in a leading bass synth pedal shootout?

Did a specific tone inspire you to play bass?
Elfrasho replied to lancer's topic in General Discussion
Another forJamiroqai, but my first taste of them was Emergency on PlanetEarth. The tone is probably more to do with the bass than anything, but absolutely loved it, and it was one of the first albums I actually sat down and learned! -

I don’t disagree with any of that, I just think that the innovation now needs to happen outside of the internet or any digital domain. With things as they currently are, no matter how amazing the art, if your end result is a jpeg or an mp4 (or whatever digital format), it falls in the same toilet as all the AI stuff. -

The End of Tonewood ... or Tone-anything!
ezbass replied to Stub Mandrel's topic in General Discussion
Tungsten hexafluoride is best for heavy metal. -
There's nothing new about them, they are the same Presonus interfaces renamed as "Fender". As far as quality goes they are solid.
-
Pretty certain that was either related to Mac MIDI studio (or whatever it’s called) or your interface settings. I seem to recall someone else using the same interface had some issues with other devices. The new firmware will let you do loads without ever needing the computer.

I prefer a bit more helium in my tone air, for the high frequency response 😂 -
That looks excellent!!
