It seems like YT and Insta and all the others these days are just this incestuous circle of “influencers” calling each other out and getting artificially outraged for some perceived infraction or other. Grifters the lot of ‘em. People around the world are dying in conflicts, children are starving and none of this sh*t matters one iota. None of it is worth the server space it takes up.

A huge number of followers, likers, and commentors are bots and AI accounts. "Fed up of being taken advantage of? Simply send me a postal order for £5 and I will send you my guide on how to avoid online scams..."

Hey guys! Has anyone played on this musical before? What's it like? Been offered the gig with a local theatre company but the music is dots and I'm usually a chart reader. Not a problem really as I'll get the notation well in advance, but I'm keen to hear what others think about the music and bass part in general! Thanks in advance Danny

I bought a 2011 Fender Japan Jaguar bass new as my backup. When I switched bands, I started using it as my #1 for the mental change and it broke in much faster. Once it had broken-in, it sounded so good that it became my main bass. It still is. Fender Japan is fantastic! The body is alder or ash, not basswood, but I'm sure it would have been the same situation.

I think many people wouldn’t know that she’s not actually playing those lines, I’ve got miss reggae lots of times with this old trick 😁

Yeah, i have been offering people on the second hand market here in France to swap either one of my two basses for the ones they are selling but they all are looking for smthg else...and i have no cash right now to buy unless i sell first...

A couple of years ago I managed to book a gig on my daughters wedding day! To be fair she hadn't written it in the diary. I knew there was going to be a wedding, but I had no idea of the date!. It's the wife's job to keep track of all that stuff. The clash was noticed a couple of months before the big day, so a dep could be found, but I'm still regularly ticked off over that one!!

Back at Pitchers and we found that since we were last here a fortnight ago, we've lost 30% of the stage area to some lowest common denominator entertainment device called a Dance Machine. As James and his guitarist-sized pedalboard were here, as well as Phoebe with her far more modest showing, there was barely anywhere to stand and getting to the mic to do some BVs wasn't easy. It wasn't very busy, a few regulars were absent. There were three featured bands - Three Mile Island quite impressed me, an originals straightforward rock band. The monstrosity can be seen behind me - the drumkit normally goes where it stands now. It stands on a platform which the bass amp was set up on (it normally lives where that Boss amp is). Also visible is the first half metre of James's pedalboard.

I think my most embarassing one is when I managed to book tickets to go to a gig (to see DB virtuoso Edgar Meyer iirc) without realising that my band at the time also had a (totally different) gig that night, which somehow I didn't realise until they called me to find out why I wasn't at the soundcheck. Fortunately they were able to cope without me for one night but not my finest hour.

It was my pleasure to buy a Genz Benz Shuttle 9.0 off Sarah and her partner on Saturday last. Item as described, good comms, fair price (for both of us). Deal with confidence! Shug

Dance of the Mad - PWEI

Saturday night, back at a WMC that Dirty Roses have played at before. Went down well, which was nice. I've done several years of social club work so I'm used to the bingo and play your cards right, it's still a novelty for the others. Antoniotsai dragon bass -> Lekato WS-90 -> Zoom MS-60B+ -> Tecamp Puma 900 -> GR Bass AT212. We have our youngest fan.

Not sure if this counts as a rookie error (or maybe saved by a pro?) but many years ago I played at a rather posh end of year school concert for my old school, in an acoustic guitar duet with an old guitar teacher called Simon James (who was one of the founding members of the band "Acoustic Alchemy" if anyone remembers them). The whole concert had gone very well so in a fit of enthusiasm the school music teacher invited all the musicians to come up on stage with their instruments for an impromptu finale. As I went to go up Simon motioned at me to sit down and said we would sit this one out. Sure enough it was an embarrassing disaster that fortunately we had no part of!

I was researching the prices of pre-CBS Jazzes as I have quite a budget built up for music stuff. However, it seems to be impossible to find one under €10K... The 64 refin at Andy Baxter is lovely but it's almost €8K plus shipping and VAT. That hurts.
