  1. Past hour
  2. Yep, the black one. He still had that when we did the London Bass Show interview in 2018. Building an idea for a new video...
  3. There was also Stingray around at that time, which, IIRC, Thunder bought for him. However, I think I only ever saw and heard that bass once.
  4. Just for clarity I doubt DG is comping 5 solos because of mistakes, or any shred of sloppiness. He'll be playing a different thing each time and comping the best bits.
  5. Will be absolutely fine 👍
  6. True, so I'd spray the inside with contact cleaner, including in the pots.
  7. I’ve heard this before so good to have it confirmed. If it’s good enough for one of the greatest guitarists in the world, it’s probably ok. I’d also point people to videos of all the greats. I’ve seen enough Jaco clips to see he’s not always super smooth and there are mistakes in his live playing, same as all of us.
  8. Another Bob Mintzer chart, the tune is 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah', from the 2013 live recording 'Get Up!). Not too challenging, just good counting practice. The bass player is Will Lee. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/yeah-yeah-yeah-bob-mintzer-big-band/
  9. Hes going to burn well!
  10. Help help. I've just bought a Vintera II Precision. It's lovely. The stock strings (I assume Fender - roundwound) were fine, all played nicely with great intonation. I've taken those off and replaced with La Bella low tension flats (100-42). Everything sounds great, but the G string (and only the G string) was hugely sharp at the 12th fret. No problem, I started to adjust the saddle. But, to get this thing to intonate at the 12th fret, I had to move the saddle back (i.e. away from the neck) by a crazy amount. More than I have ever seen, and it looked crazy compared to the other 3 saddles. Anyway, no problem (I thought), this was now intonated perfectly at the 12th fret and open string. However, frets 7-9 were hugely sharp. So, now the string is in tune, then becomes increasingly sharp until the 9th fret, then flattens back to pitch by the time I hit fret 12. Strange. So, I put the original Fender(?) roundwound G string back on, and adjusted the saddle back to where it was, and it's perfect. No issue at all. Now I have taken that original string off, replaced with the La Bella G string but kept the saddle where it works for the Fender string (thinking that I had done some wierd restringing job). But, I am back to where I started. It's in tune when played open, then massively sharp at the 12th fret. I adjust the saddle to achieve pitch both open and at fret 12, but again it's hugely sharp 7-9th frets. Like, unusably sharp. The string is correctly seated in the nut and saddle, and appropriately wound. I have tried raising the action a little, then re-pitching. The neck looks fine (obviously, the bass behaves with the roundwound string). So, I am at a loss. I don't quite understand the physics of this. The string gauges are perhaps a little out, but likely only 0.42 (La Bella) vs about 0.45. Regardless of the physics - can anyone help me find a solution. I've got a recording session on Monday(!). Is this just a dud string perhaps? Thanks!
  11. That was his bass of choice for quite a while.
  12. Bassist seeks Rock covers band (established or just starting). Southend-on-sea based, pro equipment and motivated. I don’t drive at present but do have transport in form of lifts so need to keep it fairly local (Rayleigh, Hockley etc) to start WhatsApp me at 07825 457694 🤘🏻👍🏻
  13. Which one is Virgil? Poor guy!:)
  14. Having worked with David Gilmour, I can tell you that he does 5 passes of a solo and creates the final version from those 5. All 5 are amazing of course.
  15. An album lasts generally less than an hour - who was the last group to do their recording in an hour?
  16. Dubbin' Ya Boots - sounds like a reggae band from Keswick.
  17. We’re talking less than 0.13mm here, I'm sure it’ll be fine. I’ve never experienced any nut issues between 100s and 105s, although I’ve never had an MM compensated nut.

  19. I recently purchased this from a small solo builder. Fantastic build quality and to my ears it's identical to the Darkglass I had. I had no need for a DI like the original, this doesn't have one. So it's just a killer dirt box. It was a kind of impulse purchase for me, as awesome as it is I've really no use for it sadly (I can get similar with what I already have) . I put it on my board but it's had very little use so it's as new. £93 posted. Always happy to hear trades w.h.y(possibly another vintage micro tubes)👍 I forgot to take a pic, but I've put fresh pedal tape on the bottom (I can remove if needed)
  20. In my limited experience with Bax, they'll deliver in the end. Might take a while, but I got mine - even a company bankruptcy didn't stop them.
  21. I remember seeing Chris play that bass many times with Bad Influence, always sounded good.
