  2. After a truly ridiculous amount of to-ing and fro-ing, measurement and comparison, emails ignored or answered uselessly, I've ended up buying: https://www.thomann.co.uk/protec_c313_deluxe_34_bass_bag.htm Will it be any good? Watch this space ...
  3. Got one of these... nice unit, sounds great. Lots of gain manipulation options. GLWTS
  4. Might be worth looking at retrovibe to see if he has any that are the correct size. https://retrovibe.co.uk/product-category/parts/pickups/
  5. Leather and Lace - Stevie Nicks
  6. That's a real shame. Although I live in south wales, after my local luthier stopped taking in basses, Dave at bassbags has been my go-to guy for maintaining my double bass - most recently reaming the body for a new end pin.
  7. Found one! Sticks out a bit but who cares. Thanks everyone, really appreciate it. 😀
  8. Interested in this too. At some point I’d like to upgrade my Gretsch, from what i can see, I’ve only seen that TV Jones offer a few mini humbucker options… https://tvjones.com/bass-pickups/ And, i think Seymour Duncan also offer a Mini Bass Humbucker. Can’t comment on any of them as it’s just from my own research rather than experience.
  9. It seems that Bassbags has gone belly up. A friend took his bass to them for restoration and sale on comission...then thought to check the company's finances. Failed to submit accounts so threatened with strike off. Heavily in debt; debt greater than value of stock. Now called in a liquidator. It's a real shame as they've been a useful local resource for me. Always friendly and full of advice and a useful place to buy bits and bobs. Anyway.... don't order anything from them, you'll probably not get it. ...but watch out for a liquidation sale of mid range basses!
  10. Best bass filter on the market IMHO, good price too! Si
  11. Spector Euro lx4 rst in Turquoise Tide. Comes with a Spector gig bag and us only a few months old. Nice and lightweight with Aguilar pickups. Ive played 2 shows with the bass and it already has some buckle rash and has pitted the back of the bass due to my belt. I've decided to move it on as I'm using my other Euro lx4 more and don't feel this is ideal for heavy touring due to it being quite fragile in construction. It's been strung up with some Elixir roundwood string and is an amazing bass for someone looking to snag one of these.

  14. Chantilly Lace - The Big Bopper
  15. “Particularly particular” 🤣 Looks like a cool, unique custom instrument. Shame you’re hundreds of miles away as I’d be interested to feel the custom neck. GLWTS
  16. First/Index page needs updating
  17. I’m going Nate Watts too, but not 100% sure TBH, because - As said, he does look uncharacteristically slimmer than Nate was around that time. Nate was using Hartke stuff then IIRC, and it looks like an SWR rig back there? He favoured mainly 5 strings then. Rarely seen without a hat! Of course all the above could be easily explained away, so I’d still go for it being Nate. Watching the clip brought a tear to my eyes too, Stevie and Aretha being two of my favourite performers ever and that band and backing singers - wonderful.
  18. If you want a cover on the cheap, buy a sheet of coreflute aka real estate sign board, cut to size and duct tape together. Ten quid.
  19. Played an open mic last night in Sutton Coldfield. Just the five tunes but we were given the "feature band" slot. Felt like less of an open mic at times and more of a "battle of the bands" situation given the quality of all of the bands on. Was really fun though. Bass was my modded Squier Bronco, and that was plugged (via fancy wireless) into an Aguilar Tone Hammer 700 head and 2 112 cabs underneath (as house amps go, that was the best I've ever used for sure). Footwear was Puma Suedes.
  20. Whipped Cream - Herb Alpert & his Tijuana Brass
  21. Try watching Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom again! I lasted about 20 minutes. Shocking.
  22. There are now some player produced videos and audio clips of the amp, some really good ones actually. They are on TalkBass (amps & cabs, new boogie release thread, pages 17-19-ish), I can't link them here unfortunately. I would like to hear what you can do here once they start getting into your hands, please post your videos and clips.
  23. I have actually designed some Subway multi-driver cabinets but there wasn't much interest even though a couple of the designs were really quite good (articulate while retaining some flavor). Oh well, the customers drive this ship, not enough customer interest equals "pull the plug". It's unlikely to see the old Boogie badge on the bass cabinets, The Mesa Engineering was selected starting about 25 years ago. We do have some Boogie badges on our factory store website so that you could customize your own cabinets however.
  24. There's another much bigger surprise bassists thresd, needs merging.
