  1. Past hour
  2. Squier Sonic P is a good shout. I have a a Sunburst one, and the neck is lovely. I would also look at the Harley Benton MV4-P as that as a Jazz spec neck. Its a hell of a lot of bass for £200 and they have it in some nice colours! I have the PJ and I love it. Here's mine
  3. I used to oxn a few GR Bass combos, but all were fitted with 12 inches speakers, and they sound quite neutral with loads of power and their ful carbon is certainly the lightest 12 inches combo on the market. That said, the most amazing sound wise combos I have ever played was the Hevos Midget 10, not cheap at all, but simply amazing: https://www.public-peace.de/hevos-midget10-combo.html And it can even handle a double bass without any issue.
  4. Sire, very popular for a good reason. Sure, many will suggest getting an amp, but I'm betting you buy a nice bass like this and you won't be able to put it down. Andertons Sire Version 2 Marcus Miller V3 4-String Bass in Red Satin £249.00£439.00
  5. I can encrypt it using that exceptionally difficult system ROT13 if it helps you.
  6. Something that is pretty much as simple as it gets, the Dusty Hill bass part for the ZZ Top tune 'Jesus Just Left Chicago' from the 1973 classic, 'Tres Hombres'. Solid root playing without an ounce of fat. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/jesus-just-left-chicago-zz-top/
  7. I've lost gigs because of my inability to sing and play at the same time. TBF my inability to actually sing hasn't helped either.
  8. Mark King was originally a drummer, therefore it is possible to him to play bass and sing. But if you are a true bassist, walking and talking simultaneously is not possible. Forget singing and playing at the same time.
  9. There's not a bad sound in that amp, just a case of choosing what works best for you. Enjoy!
  10. @rwillett why no crypto or code in case my enemy sees this and joins the cause... The HB looks a bit of a Monster - Double Trouble...
  11. Practice - you’ll spot “anchor points” in the song where this lyric and that bass part match up and make it easier to navigate. Also, worth trying one thing at a time. Learning to sing a song well is a job in itself, so maybe do that as one job and learning the bass line as another job. Once you’ve got them in hand, then start combining them. Good luck.
  12. Yes, it’s got my attention! missed that one on my searches, but the older model showed up a few times
  13. This was donated into the charity I volunteer at. It's a 3/4 size model Yamaha...no idea of the year. I was giving some consideration to keeping this as a travel guitar, but no. I've given it a bit of TLC, oiled the neck, given it a decent clean and put on some newish Martin strings put on (which alarmingly, the hi-E - fresh from the pack - has got a bit of rustiness on it!). There are a few small marks on the thing, but it's not had a hard life. It plays nicely enough, very bright tonally. Stays in tune. Padded gig bag, zips all work. I'll happily sell at £100.00 for pickup or £110.00 shipped in the UK - all proceeds will just go back into the charity. I will consider sensible offers, but come on, it's a charity sale!
  14. Brass nut on my 72 jazz fitted many moons ago replaced the broken original. Graphite bridge saddles on that too. Brass nut and bridge saddles on the Aria makes a nice noise. Plastic nut on the Ibanez SR and probably just plastic on the Stingray too.
  15. It would've been 6d in 1965.
  16. That G-K seems a reasonable option, especially as the enclosure isn't ridiculously small. One can't get decent lows from a tiny box for the same reason that basses don't have a 45cm scale length.
  17. Deep in my memory banks I actually knew that. However, it was pretty deep in there. Thanks for the tips. I also need to bring the bridge back from Bannana so will wet it, put it between two pieces of flat board and clamp it hard for a few weeks. I knew that Black and Decker workmate would come in handy eventually.
  18. For sale is my Vanderkley MNT 112 which was bought New from Bass Direct in 2020. 600W RMS and 17kg. The cab is in immaculate condition and always stored in the Roqsolid branded Vanderkley cover. I’ve recently bought the LNT 210 4ohms version, which renders the MNT112 surplus to requirements. Considering the above, this is Sale Only, and not interested in trades. Collection only from BD11 between Bradford and Leeds.

  19. I see people who've bought one and spent money on upgrades and then trying to sell them on for what "it owes them".
  20. Whip in my Valise - Adam and the Ants
  21. As others have said, lots of practise. I was encouraged to sing some lead in my last band and one of the tunes was Bowie’s China Girl. The, “I wander into town…” section is right against the bass line rhythm. There was a lot of trying it at home before playing it live I can tell you.
  22. Today
  23. Still want this but wallet says no 😔
  24. Also - BC advises putting ownership into the pictures (like including a post-it note with your BC handle or something) so the pictures can't be used to rip someone off elsewhere (or on here)
