  2. Sweet! Great bass art and history on the wall there 👍. You've got quite a set of bass cases! Mine are a messy group gathered over the years: most of my gigs are local and not bundle in with other's gear. Nicely organised desk and bass-space. Been to a wedding recently? 😉 Note to self: try the 15 on top, it doesn't look right 😁
  3. I bought my 64 p bass last year for a significant birthday present to myself and it's by far the most incredible instrument I've ever owned. It's player grade and was played to death by a famous UK session player from 1969 if I remember correctly, ans I can see why! Every note across the entire fretboard is clear as a bell and completely in tune. Definitely completely bonded with it more than any bass I've ever owned!
  4. Cool, great info re your TC gear. I read a post off yours on the RH750 with interest. The BAM200 is prefect for the small gigs and as a backup, but I need to use it more with the cabs I've got. I need to get hold of a TC cab one of these days to see if the tone/range output using the BAM200 is happiest powering them.
  5. Really like the pick-guard as a mix of '52 P-bass and Marcus Miller Jazz! I could see it doing pretty well as a body/pick-up concept in a MIM model if they committed to either fretted/fretless and put a passive tone circuit in there instead, with a more regular set of finishes. Those pick-ups would work great for a warm fretless tone. But then that would just make it another boring Fender? Another thought, is there a good reason why we don't see more effects in basses? There are plenty of 9V or 18V active basses that only power a 3-band EQ. It'd be cool to see something like a compressor and SansAmp in a body, which everyone could find useful. Maybe even a tuner? Could even be clever with an XLR output and phantom power?
  6. Depping gig at Ashby Road Sports Club in Hinckley last night. Was particularly pleased to try out the bitsa P bass I’ve been working on for the last few weeks - from what I can tell it’s at least partly an oldish Squier Affinity. It sounded great. Not “vintage P bass” great but much in the same ball park and very usable indeed. I was planning to upgrade the pickups but tbh it sounds fine as it is. Weirdly my IEM sound was terrible - everything was just distortion which was so distracting I took them out after a couple of songs. Half time I swapped the lead, the batteries and the headphone amp itself, and reduced the volume of the mix coming into my monitor channel. But it still sounded awful - I suspect I may have blown something in my IEMs! So ended up playing without any monitors and just using the onstage sound, just like the old days. Good gig tho.
  7. Pics for now, will add details later today

  8. This cab isn't just for DB but it's enough of a boutique DB item that it's worth posting the link to the sale thread here too.
  9. What we found worked well was a video of us playing. This helped to connect us with an agent who managed the whole process for us. I actually have a list of blues festivals in the South West if it's of interest. Now, I don't play with that band any more, but I've found the same process (getting a video, great website and social media stuff) can connect you with an agent and let them do the rest.
  10. Basschat first got interested in these over 10 years ago - I blame @Clarky It was that thread that led to me ordering a matching Crazy 88 from Guy Trigg (who seems to be no longer a Member here): https://www.facebook.com/trickyaudio/?locale=en_GB He was/is building them under licence from Greenboy in the USA: https://www.greenboy.us/ https://www.greenboy.us/cabs/view.php?model=Crazy88 Just to confirm those dimensions in metric: H 57cm x W 27cm x D 35cm, Weight 12.5Kg The cab is 4 Ohms.
  11. So here's a game I play roughly once a year. I list a whole bunch of kit for sale (really not wanting to sell any of it you understand) and once a couple have actually sold 😩 I let the remaining listings slide down below the radar. Until the next time. I'm not selling because I'm desperate for the money, and if I was John Entwistle then I'd just keep the lot and have an ever-expanding collection, but the reality is that almost all my gigs are with PA support so my Crazy 8 is perfectly adequate as a stage monitor. Common sense says that this gorgeous cab should get back out in circulation. I have no interest at all in trades. Replacing a can that doesn't get used with a different cab that won't get used seems like a complete waste of time and effort. On the other hand, much of my amplification is pretty non-standard or left-field and therefore hard to price, so I'm not absolutely wedded to the figure stated. I'm in Harrow HA1, close to Sudbury Hill on the Piccadilly Line, and I gig regularly throughout Beds, Bucks, Herts & Middx, with occasional forays into Surrey. Pickup in person is always preferable to despatch (from home, or a mutually-convenient pub, or at one one of my gigs), but I've had nothing but good experiences with DPD so if you live more than - say - 50 miles from Harrow then that's an option. Here's something pretty exotic. It sounds great with electric bass (particularly fretless) and quite outstanding with DB. It's not pristine. It's played enough gigs to pick up some scuffing to the grille and a couple of marks (see below) but it's a solid 9/10 on the cosmetics, and definitely 10/10 on performance. Simple, recessed carry handle so your amp can sit atop it. One side completely clean. The other slightly less so. That chip is about the size of the end of your thumbnail. Assuming your thumbnails are the same size as mine, of course. Can be daisy-chained and has a variable tweeter. Jeez! Would you look at the log scales on that!
  12. According to Fender, rolls off highs without increasing bass/muddiness

  14. Good luck with this Mick. The only bit of advice/experience I can give is related to travel. I spent a few years in a band playing original songs in a folk style with an interesting selection of instruments; accordion, mandolin etc. Although we got a decent amount of gigs at pubs, clubs and festivals there was a lot of travel involved. Playing a particular genre, there seemed to be maybe only one venue in a town or smaller city that was worth playing in. Suitable festivals might be a couple of hours drive away too. I don’t know if that’s the case for the blues, though. Plus, it will depend on how often you want to play live. Hope you find a way!
  15. Serious suggestion 'I couldn't turn up because the foh sound was good'. Start with your onstage level noticeably higher tonight before foh levels are set. And make sure your bandmates know that you struggled lasg night and that was because you couldn't hear yourself properly.
  16. We went with some friends to see their daughter perform in a talent show in a venue on Cromer pier. I don’t really know how to describe what her troupe were supposed to be doing but it was truly awful, an absolute shambling mess! My mate was relieved that only the best three acts from each category went through to perform again in the afternoon. He was just glad that we wouldn’t have to stay for that. Except that there were only two acts in her category, so they got through by default. I buggered off outside and spent the afternoon crab fishing.
  17. Just heard it on R6, had to Shazam it. Glorious 👍

    Darkglass Anagram

Will DM my order number now. There was definitely something weird going on with this order as it was still shown as 'processing' when it had actually been delivered and I hadn't received any despatch notifications or delivery details.
  19. I've never heard this before but my goodness it's loaded with truth.
  20. New and unplayed, Ruf Records latest prodigy’s new release. Features Kingfish Ingham and Shemekia Copeland. Powerful stuff from someone who’s touring here in the autumn and should not be missed. £20 from Amazon, £10 posted UK here.
  21. My band has been around for three and a half years. We could like to play blues clubs and/or festivals as well as the local venues we’ve found suit us - pubs and social clubs seem not to work so well. So my question is - what do these more specialist venues/events require? Original material rather than classic blues? A following to boost their attendees? A commercial recording? How can we take the next step? I’m sure many here have made the journey, and I’d value your thoughts. Thanks
  22. Down to Fife in a fortnight for what is our last gig in the diary for this year. The sound will have to be better than last night’s or I’m going to seriously think about packing it in.
  23. Nooo, buy a keyboard amp and sell it to me 😊. Seriously though the mini 15’s are hard to find as well.
