  2. Price drop £700- open to sensible offers For sale: my dream bass, built with no expense spared, using only the finest components. This was my exclusive bass for around three years, including on a full UK tour with EXTC — featuring Terry Chambers, original drummer of XTC. Specs: Neck: Beautiful quartersawn flame roasted maple Jazz bass neck, oil-finished with a rosewood fingerboard — hand-crafted by Neil at Custom Guitar & Bass Builds (Oxfordshire) Body: Alder, metallic grey finish — also hand-crafted by Neil at Custom Guitar & Bass Builds Pickups: Hand-wound by Jamie at The Creamery (Manchester) — custom 1960-spec Jazz Bass and 1958-spec Precision Bass pickups Bridge: Babicz Full Contact Bridge Electronics: John East Uni-Pre (customisable, 3-knob pickup controls) Tuners: Hipshot lightweight tuners Assembly: Professionally built to the highest standard Condition:Good- some scratches and dinks from regular use — see photos or ask for more details. I upgraded the tuners to Hipshots so there are some small holes left from the previous tuners. Includes a finger ramp- could do with a respray! (easily removable though – attached with double-sided tape). Sound:Massive tonal flexibility, amazing clarity and depth — from deep vintage warmth to tight, modern punch. A truly powerful, versatile bass that suits any genre. Reason for Sale: Only selling as I've now moved permanently to short-scale basses, and this is no longer getting the use it deserves. Price: £700 (sensible offers considered) Cost about £1500 to put together. Collection preferred. Happy to send more photos, recordings, or arrange a try-out for serious buyers.

  3. Tomorrow night (Friday 30th) in Darlo!
  4. My band, The Spacewasters played in Malta earlier this year (I didn’t go as no longer get on planes) and they did a deal with the organising Malta band that they got all the door money, with a reciprocal agreement that the same happened when the Malta band came over here - which happened last weekend. Sadly with things the way they are it’s unlikely that similar could be arranged but it may be worth trying to set up something like that with a local band who would be willing to play for expenses only.
  5. Bought an EMU rack unit from @ash. Easy and quick transaction, clear and cheerful communications, quick delivery, all adding up to my most enjoyable Tier 2 Fail yet. Robert
  6. This is very useful to know, in fact as far as I can see it is the first/only time the actual weight has been mentioned anywhere online. It is just about on my self-imposed 4kg limit. Once Bass Direct have them in stock I'll make a trip there to try it out vs the new Ibanez EHB. I think I'll probably prefer a few things on the SP1 like the tone and front facing jack, 22 frets (more room in that plucking area), body shape, and the look...but I expect the Ibanez will stack up in a similar way for scale lengths, tone, and playability and will be about 0.5kg lighter (and £250 cheaper) so it'll be a tough call.
  7. Yoko Ono: no need to change a letter to ruin it, but not her.
  8. And the VULF Compressor
  9. Yep, but when you go back in time, he already had THAT sound with a stock Jazz Bass, so, here, it's really all in the fingers.
  10. junglist massive - m-beat
  11. StringsDirect also sell Switchcraft barrel jacks.
  12. I've solved the problem by only using two plug-ins that weren't part of the Logic Installation, and while both these third party plug-ins make life a bit easier when composing or recording neither are essential.
  13. Switchcraft in my experience. That said, barrel jacks are a difficult concept from an engineering and materials point of view and so even the best won't last as long as, say, a Switchcraft standard jack.
  14. Hi, is this still for sale, I did message on EBay and have put a bid in. I'm local
  15. These are fantastic things. Ran a rudimentary bi-amp set up a while back...crossover feeding a GT2 fit the highs/dirt, lows going through a BDDI set cleanish.
  16. I had the Rockbag to fit the Warwick StarBass which I expect would fit most other semi-acoustic basses. Wasn't particularly impressed with the quality and it had to be binned after a 18 months of use twice a week due to zip and bottom of the case wearing out. Also I has never impressed with the strap system. Like a lot of gig bags it would have fine if all I wanted was something that offered a bit of protection for the bass while in a car and from carrying from the car into the venue. For actually using the carry a bass on my back for any distance, very poor.
  17. Bought this a while ago with no thought as to what to use it for, other than it was a massive peg (😲🤭). However, if your need is greater than mine.........
  18. Interesting choice of decor. Looks like wallpaper stripping in a neglected 1970s house. I did however expect you to continue the title line with, "... a man with three buttocks!"
  19. Whether or not to use the FX loop depends on 2 things: 1. Do you use the pre-amp of your amp to produce "drive" sounds via valves or some other circuitry? If so some effects like delay (definitely) and chorus/flanger/phaser (maybe depending on the sound you are after) will benefit from being on the effects loop. 2. Do you have effects that are expecting line-level rather than instrument level input signals? These always perform better in the effects loop.
  20. Yeah, I know - been toying with the idea for ages. It does mean shelling out on a tablet though!

  22. I bought one of these a few weeks ago; fantastic bass. Wide but really comfortable neck, and a huge range of sounds. Absolutely love it, and recommend this. Best of luck with the sale.
