  1. Past hour
  2. Dave, Agreed. In my neck of the woods the nicer upscale venues go out of their way to treat bands nice. These places always comp entrees and drinks for the band. At The Harley Motor the lady that supervises the place comes up to the band members before the last set to take our orders. Daryl
  3. Kool. That would most likely be good for metal, too! Will the wood be seen through the colour?
  4. only you cant get the tone of a BDDI 😀
  5. Inspired by this thread, I thought I’d do a bit of catch up on iplayer, whilst doing some chores. For me, it’s like an extended, outdoor version of Jools’ Later, without the boogie woogie - all a bit meh. Just listening to Inhaler’s sub U2 performance (it’s genetic I guess), that P bass through the SVT is marvellous, what a roar!
  6. I thought she was terrific on Later. For me, she's got real star quality. Like we've both said, there's a huge divergence of opinion on what's good and what's not. Nothing wrong with that.
  7. Many decades ago I found this case second hand in the Birminham Bass Centre. It has a label saying Howson with a union jack and a phone number. Not seen another one like it ever, it's excellent though.
  8. I'm a thumb plectrum man... Basically hit the string on both the Up- and the Down-stroke! Some times with a slap for emphasis. Then 3 fingers wiggle about doing other widdleystuff.
  9. No such luxuries for us, maybe a storage area to change in rather than the bogs. Never any problems with the bar staff, but the committee members, who plainly don’t speak to each other and have agendas. The money is better than pubs, but the vibe is often one of ambivalence, with most wanting bingo and some dodgy Spotify playlist. We’re plainly playing the wrong venues.
  10. Thanks Geek99, Agreed, they had the same volume cissue for the lead singer in the band that played before us . Daryl
  11. The Op hasn't been on Basschat for over 3 years now.
  12. Having seen her on Later a while ago I'll be steering well clear. But some folks are clearly huge fans!!! It clearly takes all sorts... Shall hopefully be catching up with Bob Vylan later, then search for entertaining oddness, like the Porn Crumpets last year!
  13. Love the Laney. Subtle EQ and options that benefit the player in a live situation. It doesn't force a baked in sound - it lets you dial in how you want it.
  14. I have a ProDI for emergency situations and everyone has loved it.
  15. I saw a bit of CMAT. Seriously, that must be the worst vocal performance ever on the pyramid stage.
  16. I like using my fingers to hit the strings downwards for a percussive sound that's more subtle than slap.
  17. Because while both are past their sell-by date, the 1975 aren't quite as stale, and neither have been going long enough to get a second wind as "legends".
  18. Hi Paul, sent you a PM
  19. Thanks Steve. It’s a stunning example with just the one issue needing technical expertise. Hence me expecting a techno wizz to buy it OR someone with a luthier mate to sort it gratis. It’ll be a cracker once sorted. It’s only 2 ounces more than my BB614. Cheers 👍
  20. I think it was a lighthearted joke, don’t take it too seriously.
  21. The new Peavey Cirrus will be made by NBE in the Czech Republic. NBE also makes the Spector Euro basses. So, the quality of the Cirrus basses will probably be really good and justify the price. However, I genuinely doubt that the Peavey brand is strong enough to convince many buyers to pay more than £3k for a new Cirrus that was not made in the US. We may like it or not, but brands do matter a lot. Sad but true (and that's my musical reference for the day. Mission accomplished ; -).
  22. Did Henry Juszkiewicz move to Peavey when he was ousted from Gibson? This reeks of a money losing exercise.
  23. So expressing an opinion that is different from makes you think think I am probably either old and outdated or a niche obsessed nerd. Nice. I go into today (as everyday) with an open mind
  24. Today
  25. A fine looking bass and a very comprehensive and honest description, if I may say. I'm a big Yamaha fan (I already own 4 basses, plus a Pacifica, two Keyboards, and Amps) Have to confess I'm tempted. Couldn't sort anything like this out myself so I'll run it past the Luthier 🤔
