Annual Otis Jay Blues Band show at the local Forest Arts Centre, New Milton. Sold 100/130 tickets for a three-band bill - all good clean fun and a joining-in audience to boot. Great to have pro sound and lights. Sandberg VM4, GK MB200 through Barefaced One10, DI’d of course.

Has anyone been to a Pitchblack Playback event? I'm thinking of going to one and I'm really not sure if it will be worth the money or something that will be an incredible listening event.
-
Having a standard pre-agreed half song or chorus to quickly run through after telling everyone in the room what you are going to do seems to be a fairly professional way to do it regardless of who is already there, and saves the back and forth as to what the band wants to play or random jamming (which feels somewhat less professional!). I can possibly see how IEM mixes may not change much between gigs and thus a soundcheck is less necessary, but I don't think I would ever NOT want to do one!

Please have that

Thanks Richard for the offer but I think you can probably find a better home for it as we are spoiled for amp choices!

^^^ Ah… late 70s. That’s why I’ve never really noticed them.

I’m confident the guard is legit. The tuners, though.. I don’t recall seeing those gaps at the bottom of the plate before..?

What is the budget? The other question is, do you have any brand loyalty. If the thread goes on long enough you will end up with recommendations for every major bass cab known to man. As @taozero said above, The LFSys range could suit but similarly the Barefaced range get a lot of love too. However those long stretched arms will need to dig deep into your pockets for those. It is barely a secret the @stevis has been working on a new range and I know they are close. These will be lighter and lower power handling but two should do it.
-
It's not an original neck in any way. That's a slab fingerboard, not a veneer, which it should be on any Fender from 1962-1983. Those tuners are the Fender branded Schallers that came out in 1976 and are still used in Fender's '70s reissue basses today. The guard is a clear repro. The body, electronics and bridge could be real, you'd need to a closer look inside to verify.

We do a silent test that everyone is going through the mixer/laptop and in ears are working, and individually do a quick loud test of backline things (E.g. just playing a few bass notes at volume). Then we basically go straight into our first song but it is one where instruments gradually start playing one by one and the lead singer stands out front checking the levels via a laptop interface, we go around for a while if he needs to adjust things, then he starts singing and adjusts vocal levels if needed. The upside is punters don't have to put up with a lot of '1 2 1 2 check check' stuff. Downside is it is a bit a a damp squib of a set starting.

Easily the best speaker cabinet I have ever used: am downsizing to lighter Genz Benz cabs as I rarely play live now. The Eden D210XST Cab is loud enough to be heard and yet still small enough to be used at home or in a small studio. For those players who need a portable, high-performance rig with even more low end than the XLT, Eden has designed a 2 x 10" cabinet for their XST woofers. Punchy and clean, the D210XST produces a full and clear tone through its two 10" speakers. It's excellent for delivering articulate bass lines with volume. This 2 x 10" cabinet handles more power than many 4 x 10" cabs on the market. The D210XST offers huge bottom end with its cleverly-designed tuned and ported cabinet construction and speaker selection: the low end is full but tight, the mids are open and well-defined and the highs are clear and crisp. Durable build quality makes this ideal for touring and live performances. All Eden enclosures are constructed with 5/8" thick void free plywood with full dado and rabbet jointing. Massive internal bracing prevents vibration and keeps the sound deep, tight and clear. Exclusive Eden Cast Frame loudspeakers and Eden Cast Bell low distortion tweeter horns are designed, hand-built and tested in their own factory in the USA. Very Good condition. Comes with an official Eden cover. Power Handling: 500 Watts Impedance: 8 Ohms Speakers: 2x10" Eden-spec Eminence EC1060XS speakers Tweeter: Eden Cast Bell low distortion Crossover: 3.5KHz @ 18dB Frequency Response: 30Hz - 14KHz Sensitivity: 103dB SPL Connections: Parallel 1/4 Inch and Speakon Dimensions: 23" w x 18" h x 18.5" d Weight: 59lbs / 26.8kg Only £325. Collection from East London preferred, although happy for buyer to arrange a courier.

Anyone make Ampeg B15 head clones in the UK?

Brilliant, thanks! I'll look into those suggestions Fully agree this wouldn't be the place to cut corners -
Funny old thing, I always go on gut instinct when I look at a bass, and while I can't tell you why, as far as my gut is concerned the neck says no. No help at all in real terms Brian 🤔

No they are all “ Mersey Beat” artists.
-
Yep, similarly lend your bass to the singer/guitarist/drummist when they 'need to write some bass parts for the song they're working on' (because you're not trusted to do that), and you'll see authentic wear within days 👍
-
Yes I agree, very strange, the video isn’t clear but when you realise the drummer is Omar Hakim and the guitar player Hiram Bullock, two of Marcus’s close friends it can’t be anyone else other than him, plus he played on the bulk of Spellbound along with Nathan East so it all seems to make sense.

@SimonK- It's a perfect use case for him. Meet up half way on the M40 near Oxford?

Hi Brian a couple of things I noticed and I could be wrong 😁 , block inlays were introduced in mid 66, looks like a 67/68 but the tuners have the small R which are early 70s ( my 71 doesn’t have it on the tuners) , pickguard looks like a reissue one at first glance , neck is very clean for the year, nice jazz
