Apparently, the Modulus made early necks were a myth (rrp of a modulus neck was almost as much as the rrp of the G Bass), and they are not actually carbon necks as marketed, they have a maple core with a carbon wrap. Still cracking basses for the money of course, but really interesting marketing choice from Peavey; the manual literally says it's a Carbon Graphite neck with no mention of it being mostly wood. Crazy but there you go. Still want it!

FYI They paid £600 for it and wouldn't take £500, though I suspect they might end up doing so if it hasn't sold in another few months! -
Fender Rumble Bass Combos - Advice Please

No idea, but most recent Cubes including the current model have built-in compression, which is usually helpful for slappers. -

What about if the player is also suitably ‘reliced’ ? Fair do’s on this though! 😄 -

So many possibilities here. @SimonK has offered the first one. This will be mainly down to eq. What speaker are you using? It may be a case of you not hearing it on stage, but it is shaking the walls at the back of the pub! Finally, there's quite a lot going on with the controls of the amp. Have a read of @JGSpector review on here.

As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £10.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

Now £95.00. Boss RV-6 for sale, this one is mint and in perfect working order, no box, collection welcome or UK insured postage for £8.50 BOSS RV-6 Reverb Effects Pedal Combining high-end sound and wide-ranging versatility, the BOSS RV-6 takes pedal-based reverb to the next level. Reaching beyond the capabilities of previous generations, this powerful stomp employs the latest tech and legendary BOSS know-how to make it easy to get amazing reverb tones instantly. From subtle rooms to modern shimmer effects to long, evocative reverbs, the RV-6 envelops your tone in lush ambient spaces that endlessly inspire. BOSS RV6, Simply Great-Sounding Reverbs Packing the latest BOSS DSP and updated algorithms, the BOSS RV-6 gives you eight highly musical reverb effects in one compact pedal. Add body and depth to your core tone with standards like Room, Hall, and Plate, dial up swirling richness with the Modulate setting, or surf it up with a vintage-style Spring reverb. Dynamic mode automatically adjusts the effect depth to your playing touch, providing deep, immersive reverb that won’t turn your tone to mud. And modern players will love the new Shimmer and Reverb+Delay modes. Dialed-In Reverb Sounds at Your Command The BOSS RV6 makes getting high-quality reverb sounds with your guitar quick and easy—just select a sound mode, tweak the knobs to taste, and play. But while its operation is simple, the RV-6’s sound is rich and sophisticated. Under the hood, each mode includes a huge array of detailed reverb parameters, all perfectly tuned for guitar by the BOSS engineers with direct input from many pro players and sound engineers. Even as you adjust the selected mode with the Time and Tone knobs, many parameters are simultaneously adjusted inside to create the ideal voicing for every setting. Analog Dry Tone and Versatile I/O While the BOSS RV-6’s reverb effects are high-tech digital, you can rest assured that your straight guitar tone always remains pure analog as the effect is blended in. Convenient auto-switching jacks let you integrate with any pedal chain, with support for mono, mono-to-stereo, and stereo-to-stereo operation. And by plugging into the B input only, the BOSS RV6 outputs a 100-percent wet sound, great for working with more complex rigs that employ parallel processing chains and mixers. There’s also a jack for connecting an optional expression pedal, allowing you to control the effect level in real time as you play.

This is all super interesting and I’m mulling over carefully. Yes, I did sell the bass for £250 to my friend’s young son. He was/is chuffed to bits with it (the parts are worth way more individually and together make for a brilliant bass and he’s getting on with it great) and I’m really pleased it went to someone who is at the start of their musical life.

I had an early original SR which I played all thru the eighties which I was very attached to even tho it wasn't that great. Then one day in the late 90's I picked up a JV? Squire P bass. Sold the Ray a month later without any qualms at all. Which suggested to me that playability (tone feel etc) in an instrument kinda trumped my emotional attachment.

Where one can Come Back & Stay.
-
Not necessarily. It's not just about outright volume, but about where that volume happens in the frequency range. You need excursion, as Bill notes, to reproduce low frequencies at high level. You also need a well-designed cabinet that makes the most of the output from the driver(s). A properly ported cab' like the BF will do this better than a plain box like the Ashdown. 4x10s tend to be sealed boxes with drivers wired series/parallel - less efficient than ported designs and with less bass extension. If you look at cone area, with drivers of the same efficiency, a single 15 has more cone area than two 10s (176 sq in vs 157 sq in). So if that 15 has twice the excursion of the 10s (especially in a well-designed cab'), it will be louder and have better bass output than four of those 10s, because it can shift more air. If the 15 is more efficient than the 10s, the difference will be even greater.

Fender Rumble Bass Combos - Advice Please

I know you have suggested that a Markbass combo might be out of your price range , what about used ? I regularly use my older Markbass CMD121P for practice at home ( use seperate amp and cab out gigging) when compared to the various newer rumbles around the local rehearsal spaces , it blows their socks off in terms of clarity at volume . I have to say when I know were going to be playing in a place with a rumble 100 I commit to taking my own markbass as it can be frustrating as no matter what i do with the EQ they seem to stay very wooly as the volume goes up , it could be the way it reacts to my active bass rather than a passive fender style one ... but i wouldnt say i love the " tone shaping options" I used to have a bunch of behringer ultrabass combo's both the 800 and the 1200 i loved the kickback feature and they were very loud , but yes lacking in tone options A solution to do what you want on a budget could be to you use the power section on those Behringers bypass their EQ and use a more modern device like a valetone Gp5 or perhaps their more analogue dapper bass instead https://www.thomann.co.uk/valeton_dapper_bass_mini.htm , the Amp in port on the back will let you harness the poweramp section direcly bypassing the EQ if my old foggy memory serves -

Is that "no sound" or "it is fine on its own but gets lost in the mix once everyone else starts to play"?
-
Are you going to put some extra safety resistor to the output, in case the cable is disconnected? Do the connectors have suitable switches?

If I see a relicd guitar or bass on stage, im not hanging around to hear the band. If I see a video thumbnail with thumb about to slap string, im not clicking on it. I don't like bass solos. If I see a fish sticker on the back of a car, I will expect the driver to be incompetent. If anyone calls their kids "dude" or "guys" then their children should be immediately taken in to care and the parent should be put in solitary confinement in Broadmoor. -

Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale Bass
Pinball posted a topic in Basses For Sale
Impending retirement means that I need to de-clutter, beginning with some of my beloved basses. A Beautiful bass bought from here, with a great sound, which I am just not using much. It is the real deal with gorgeous looks and construction in my honest opinion. Someone out there will love it. It is also loud enough to practice with without an amp IMHO! Happy to post as it comes with a generic hard case that fits archtop basses "The Gretsch G5442BDC Electromatic Hollow Body Short Scale bass guitar has a comfortably short scale at 30.25", and is armed with two powerful "Black Top" Filter'Tron™ bass pickups, giving it an electrifying deep-end voice and identity. The double-cutaway hollow and bound body offers full bass tone and balance, and is finished in Transparent Red." Note: I have been asked about neck dive, just in case you are worried about that this is my answer. "I can't say that it has bothered me,. Being an true hollow body/archtop It is very light and hangs horizontally, but it feels normal to rest my right arm on the body, which pushes the neck upwards to a comfortable, natural playing position. It also feels good sitting down. I imagine that the longer scale Gretsch hollows may have serious neck dive". G5442BDC Spec sheet.pdf -
That’s not a Classic Vibe neck either, looks like cheapo Chinese in nitro, might be nice but might not be
