  2. Two guys who’ve done nothing in music not talking about much music while holding basses. And Danny Sapko has a truly terrible feel. Scott can play, obvs, but it’s typically the same show-offy modal licks you get taught in the latter part of a jazz course.
  3. Good set up is the key to unlocking most basses.
  4. Hi, Can you tell if my Newport is in phase or out of phase from the photo?
  5. IS a 18 mm

  7. Welcome. We've all been waiting for you.

  9. Nothing wrong with having a difference of opinion. If we all thought the same, this place would be far less interesting. However, differences can be expressed gently and respectfully...
  10. Three hours of rehearsal yesterday to work up an acoustic set for tonight and finish writing the latest album. The acoustic stuff always sounds good, although yesterday sounded slightly under rehearsed (a good sign ahead of a show). I dug out my P-bass and we officially finished writing our third album. On a personal note, I was particularly pleased with my vocal last night as it has always been my most challenging area and I have really worked hard on building my confidence and voice.
  11. Hi Alex, welcome aboard! You mentioned playing in a range of settings on electric bass. What styles or contexts have challenged you the most over the years, and has anything you’ve learned from those situations changed the way you approach tone, technique, or gear today? Geometry Dash
  12. Hi, whats the string spacing?
  13. i see what u did there...
  14. For sale is a 1974 Fender Musicmaster Bass, a classic short-scale Fender with unmistakable 1970s character. Lightweight, comfortable, and full of vintage charm, this is a great example of a 50-year-old Fender that remains very usable and musical today. The bass has a clean, straightforward feel and delivers the warm, direct tone these Musicmasters are known for, especially well suited to roots, indie, recording, and vintage-inspired styles. Condition This is a vintage instrument and shows honest cosmetic wear consistent with age, including knocks and marks to the body, but nothing unsightly or structural. The bass plays and sounds great throughout the neck, with heavier fret wear in the upper register (around frets 16–18), which may limit clean articulation high up the neck for some players. This is typical of vintage instruments that have seen decades of use and primarily affects the highest frets, which are less commonly used on a short-scale bass. New frets likely would address it – but I personally didn’t feel the need to. The neck is straight, the truss rod works as it should, and the frets still have usable life remaining. Originality Body appears to have been refinished in black at some point in the distant past; however, the job seems to have been done in nitro and the finish already aged well. Pickguard is believed to be a later replacement. Brass nut fitted. All other parts appear to be original. Setup Currently fitted with Fender classical nylon black strings (28–43). Properly set up and comfortable to play. Specs Model: Fender Musicmaster Bass Year: 1974 Scale length: Short scale Weight: ~3.2 kg Finish: Black Fingerboard: Rosewood Controls: Volume, tone Pickup: Original-style Musicmaster single pickup Summary A genuine 1974 Fender Musicmaster Bass with tasteful aging, solid playability, and classic short-scale Fender tone. Best suited to players and collectors looking for a vintage instrument with character rather than a case queen. Happy to answer questions or provide additional photos. Sold as described and pictured.

  15. You should have given it a full minute. It gets much better.
  16. Thanks. There is a lot of glue in the channel, but I don't know if it's actually gluing anything to anything – I can't imagine titebond does much for carbon fibre. The rod is primarily held in place by being smushed between the neck and the fingerboard.
  17. I wanted it specifically for this tour, as it is what was used on the show in the west end and I loved the sound of it!
  18. I didn't see this thread either until now 😎 Before January 1st I would've said the band should get the new songs recorded ASAP and released (as a 4 track EP) plus get started on the next bunch of tunes. Also try to get more gigs outside Salisbury, we played 2 gigs where we couldn't see the spire last year and both went down better than some of our Salisbury gigs. Now after last week our new year's resolution is - find a new guitarist 🙄 One of the band's founding members left. The band first got together around 40 years ago (I joined 2022) so it was a lil' bit of a shock. I think it'll be a good thing once the dust settles but it just knocks you back a bit.
  19. Nice to see the Grape Phaser included in your setup 👍🏻
  20. If you change your mind about selling I would be interested. I’m not far from you either.
  21. Made some noise tonight with my first proper bandmates from 40+ years ago. We have been getting together every few months since lockdown just to make some noise and play through the songs from back then but haven’t managed to do so in over 6 months so there were quite a few senior moments. Took the Darkglass Anagram, Barefaced BB2 and Baby Sumo plus Frankenjazz, Hard Puncher and Status S2 along with my regular amps as backup as the Baby Sumo had played up previously but tonight it was fine. Much fun and noise made for few hours. We might not have played for a while but we worked together long enough all those years ago and are still damn tight when we remember the songs structure (knowing nods help). Always good to get together and blast through some choons, maybe a little slower than in the 70’s.
  22. Just finished soldering the last few cables for this board for a new tour that starts in Feb. Signal chain is: Instruments > Quad Cortex MC3 handles instrument switching and muting. Grape is in one of the QC’s FX Loops. The Peterson is on the Send from the other FX Loop in monitor mode so it’s always active and gives visual feedback of instrument tuning/intonation at all times. All Ins/Outs are fed through the Mod: Ins: Upright Bass mic > Mod XLR in > QC Input 1 (XLR with Phantom power) Upright Bass piezo > Mod 1/4” > QC Input 2 (1/4” Jack) Electric Bass > Mod 1/4” > QC Return 1 Outs: QC XLR 1 (Electric Bass) > Mod XLR Out 1 QC XLR 2 (Upright) > Mod XLR Out 2 QC Output 4 (TRS) > Mod 1/4” (mix of all 3 signals (mic/piezo of upright and electric) to feed my Porter and Davies Gigster Power: Everything powered by a Cioks DC7, with the Crux powering the Quad Cortex. I bodged the drilling a little bit, but I installed one of these nifty Powercon In/Out units allowing me to daisy chain power from my board to the rack with the P&D Gigster in it. All jack plugs are Squareplugs
  23. If it isn't, I have one which is. Slightly different version, IIRC.
  24. Awesome skills! Can I ask, did you glue the carbon fibre rod into the routed channel?
  25. This is very much John's project and I haven't yet had a chance to listen to his system. Our thought was that at the price he paid the plate amp with a built in crossover was worth the price of the package. We had discussed just about every possibility including my developing a cab and John the amp from scratch and this was cheaper than the parts for the amp. When it turned up it was surprisingly well put together and sounded OK with the original Wharfedales. I did run models to look at using better quality 10's including Fane, Celestion, Beyma and Faital. Most of these gave no increase in output, mainly because they are only available in 8ohms. I did manage to find TS parameters for the fitted drive units as they were being sold as spares at the time. The 120db maximum output checks out as genuine. This compares with RCF/Yamaha and the like who all routinely quote only peak output which is 6db higher than the maximum continuous output they actually develop. The last conversation we had about this was to try the speakers and if they are short of output for John's needs to try some of the drive units I have as replacements. My feeling is that it's not something I would set out to do as a plan and there isn't a speaker for sale at sub £200 that would give you the extra 6db that a second sub would guarantee.
  26. Apologies if I'm missing something, but is this no showing levels above and below 0dB, i.e. cut and boost? Very limited cut as mentioned, but still not flat fully turned down?
