What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

My Rics have white pickguards to protect them when I'm playing with a pick; I mostly don't use the controls and sometimes play them through a Trace Elliot Elf... oops! However, I do agree on the techs are not luthiers thing ("My luthier changed the pickups"). -
Spend the amp cash on a decent acoustically oriented DI e.g. EBS Stanley Clarke and go into the PA or if needed a powered cab, you’ll have far more options and with an acoustic some of them are life savers 👍

Jad Freer, just because he sounds like someone I’d get really annoyed by. I’m not even sure he’s a person or not but if he was I bet he’d drive either a Tesla, Juke or a VW camper van -
Phil Starr started following Budget Powered Speakers

I think it's easy to be too snobby about this. The quality of budget speakers is of course variable between brands but the quality can be surprisingly good. I can remember getting a Maplin Pro Sound 12" monitor to repair and being surprised by the quality of the well braced cab and the decent magnet on the 12" driver along with a nicely made crossover. It sounded OK too, not brilliant but definitely usable. The cheapies are getting better over time too, I auditioned the Alto's before going on to buy my RCF's and back then the gap was very obvious but I've played through more up to date ones and the gap is closing. The other thing is that the speakers are only one link in the chain. The weakest link is always the operator and I'd back a decent sound engineer with budget gear against someone with cloth ears and little experience using the best gear. I suspect someone singing through an SM58 clone into RCF's might sound no better than someone using a Beta58 into Alto's and possibly worse. If you only have £50 to upgrade your sound swapping mic's rather than speakers might be the better bet. Come to that my singing into top touring gear isn't going to match Freddie Mercury singing into a tin on the end of a string! It's a matter of buying what you can afford and learning to get the best out of it. If I'm listening to a live band how they play and perform is much more interesting than their speakers even to me and a poor mix is going to ruin an evening far more than losing a few Hz from the bass response or 3db off the volume level.

No, my bass is still away having them fitted. I'll post here when I've have it back...

This was on my board for a few years, never let me down but just fancied a change so I’ve got a boss chorus on the board now. The toneprint options make it a pretty versatile pedal, found myself mostly using the Duff McKagan toneprint. No original box for this unfortunately but will be packaged securely. Price includes postage in the UK, cheers

Hi Sean Thank you for sharing your thoughts. Much appreciated 👍

Be absolutely sure your potential dand mates have the same idea on what constitutes "acoustic" before you get too far into it. Many an acoustic guitar has been played at earsplitting volume ime.
-
Have you had a change to play them yet? I've not really played DiMarzio, it would be interesting to get your take.

Russ started following I met Becky Baldwin!
-
Gigged with Fury several times about 10 years back, but that was before Becky's time. Great band. Even had to share sleeping space upstairs from a pub in Coleford with them! Becky's a good player and a great bass ambassador, and she's brought them some valuable additional publicity.

My 400+ is poorly and needs to visit the Amp Hospital, it's tripping out the socket circuit at home 🫣. So, it is highly unlikely it'll be ready to go to the SW Bass Bash by 12th October. I wonder if anyone else has a 400+ that they could take to Taunton. Saying that, who's going to bring an 800D?

So I got the amber LG3005 above from E Sharp and now have a pair of Roscoes. I've owned some wonderful instruments over the years and for me, this brand has been amongst the very best.

It's good to know Fair Deal has responded accordingly.

I've owned a 425x and a 2025x, and I've played a 1025x. the 1025x shares components including pickups with 2025x and has a similar/same sound because of that. I picked up a 425x as a gigging backup to the 2025x at a very good price, hardly ever played it but it was a worthy instrument and excellent quality. The 1025x is of similar quality to the 425x i.e. excellent as most Yamaha basses are but sounds different due to the pickups. Yamaha is generally good at differentiation of different levels of instruments and nailed it with this series. Each step up in price delivers a step up in what you get. The 1025x is the bang for buck instrument in this case especially if you can find a good one used in a private sale.
