  2. Was it 2K? Blimey. Not sure where I'd got the different impression. Sorry if I raised hopes there.
  3. Up for sale is a Nordstrand 2B-4C Prewired - Preamp + Volume (Pull Passive) + Blend + Tone + Stacked Bass/Treble. Great preamp, very clear sounding. Runs on 18v. I had this in my mike lull for a year but have recently changed to a slightly different sounding preamp. In great condition. My tech snipped the wires when removing the battery connectors so they would need reattaching, the only other thing that you might need is some double sided tape for the bottom of the circuit board part (forgive me I'm not very technically informed with these things!) These are £150 new, I'm looking for £75 including UK postage.
  4. Up for sale are my Aguilar DB112 cabs in Boss Tweed. Probably the nicest cabs I've ever owned! They've have been used but well looked after, a couple of small scuffs here and there. Come with hot covers which are a little bit worn but still plenty of life left in them. Only selling as I don't realistically need them anymore and they sound too good to be sat doing nothing. Looking for £350 per cab. Collection only from Stone (Staffordshire).

  5. Just be aware you may get interference for other sources. Ive got the next ones up and had to stop using them as they would pick up RF interference. They worked great most of the time, but put them near anything that was emitting RF etc and they would buzz.
  6. If something doesn't sell, it's either not desirable (which is not the case for a quality P bass neck), or the price is too high.
  7. Its a nice looking bass, two grand is quite a lot of cash though. But then again, look what they are charging for real Rickenbackers....sigh... Interesting. This has six knobs. My one only has five.
  8. Newly remastered 3CD clamshell box set anthology featuring the three albums recorded by West, Bruce and Laing. 'Out into the Fields - The Albums 1972 - 1974' features all three albums newly remastered from the original master tapes. The set also includes an illustrated booklet with essay. New, shrinkwrapped box set. Retails at £30, yours for £17 posted UK.
  9. Is it a shitbox bass? That's what I'm after. lol
  10. My first bass-specific pedal was a Humphrey-modded Bad Monkey. I later sold it to get an Xotic Bass BB Preamp, which sounded similar, but ultimately not as good. Wish I’d kept it!
  11. I found it helpful to focus on connecting with just one friendly face in the crowd, it made the whole thing feel more like a conversation than a performance.
  12. I could have sworn that I watched this series on Netflix.
  13. Well, it said 2 at some point, I am pretty certain he changed that later to 3, also that means someone only voted for 2. And yes, that is great, however not in terms of having to make a decision, only allowed to choosing 3 of them.
  14. This sounds amazing
  15. Big update to QC - mostly in the free devices department. Lots of bass stuff in the update which is nice to see, inlcluding: New SVT Captures New Markbass Captures Aguilar Octamizer Mono Synth More bass cab IRs Big change in the way the captures work too (V2). A bit like the Helix Stadium, these are done in the cloud on a bigger machine and apparently appear to allow the capture of things like compressors(?!). Included in the capture list are the Cali76 (32 captures) and the DarkGlass Super Symmetry (7 captures) https://neuraldsp.com/quad-cortex-updates/coros-3-3-0-and-cortex-control-1-4-0-are-now-available
  16. Those are important considerations and I find the off-axis response is a big deal working live - one reason I find the Shure cardioids easy to work from both sides of the mixing desk is that their off-axis behaviour is relatively consistent with the on-axis. Re the personal choice and learning curve, I've done sound a couple of times at tiny, intimate gigs for a very good 'name' singer who favours the Beta 58. She really knows that mic and uses the proximity effect well. She makes that mic sound expensive! The downside at the desk is that such technique requires better, more transparent compression than the tiny gig rig provides and I have to ride her fader to tame the dynamics - better inbuilt compression is another thing drawing me towards a small digital mixer. The EV mics are intriguing - iirc the Shure dual diaphragm mics like the KSM8 are supposed to have greatly reduced proximity effect, I'd like to try them but they're pretty spend-y!
  17. "Sing us a song, you're Piano Man!" OP: Wandering into a bar and hearing Billy "The Tool" Joel yammering away on the keys...
  18. id rather have B who is possibly loyal and solid albeit sometimes may not be a virtuoso rather then A who is a troublemaker
  19. For me, I need a compact solution, to fit on a desk just 120cm wide. I need a weighted 88-key keyboard too, and the Kawai ES60 was highly rated It also fits on (or over) my desk, as is is just under 130cm wide. The only issue is that the ES-60 has only USB midi and I have already invested a tenner in three 5-pin DIN midi cables . . .
  20. Today
  21. Lovely authentic, vintage P-Bass tones from these old Yamaha BBs... But they also have something unique about their tone too. Something in the pick ups/pick up placement perhaps? I had a black one years ago - bought on Basschat of course - and never should have sold it! 🤦 Anyway, moving swiftly on, this one looks like a really nice example, and at a very good price too! GLWTS 👍 (p.s. what a beautiful garden @richardd)
  22. I'm starting to have a slight change in plan. I currently have a Yamaha CK-61 for band stuff and it also sits in my front room for me and the kids to do piano playing.....now i think that something specifically designed as a home piano like the ES-60 is probably better for the home piano stuff (88 weighted keys, better speakers, a bit simpler interface) and something like the Nord Electro 6 73 (or perhaps something cheaper) as a stage piano/organ/EP for playing with the band (vs the CK-61 it has the extra octave and is just generally better sound, keybed, and build quality). I also have an MPC Key 37 for home production stuff - mostly for sampling and drum loops and sequencing more than seriously playing keys and although I'm loving the MPC Key 37, I could actually replace it for my home production stuff via Laptop software and attaching it to one of the keyboards via midi. MPC Key 37 and the CK-61 would sell/parte ex for a total of roughly £1k. ES-60 and Nord Electro 6 73 (or similar) would cost roughly £2k. I kind-of think that is a worthwhile £1k upgrade to home piano, stage piano and home production/midi keyboard.
  23. Nice one (and the ES-60 looks decent).
