  2. I like reading people's different subjective preferences, makes me question/analyse my own. I don't think it's just a matter of volume per se, rather the EQ balance you want and where there is space in the mix for the bass. 100w is ample in some cases and woefully inadequate in others. Bear in mind that speaker/cab design philosophy changes a lot depending on how much power you have available. The right 15" driver and cab will let you gig a 50w head, but to scale that up even a bit requires a lot of boot space.
  3. I'd be looking for an Aguilar AG4M. I had one in my 95 Stingray and it was the best sounding Stingray I've ever played.
  4. Misery Loves Company - Porter Wagoner
  5. So after a few weeks this is where I am... Got a great preset where I split the signal and gave half going through the fat bass amp and the other half going through the tweed guitar amp. Still finding it generally fiddly, here's some observations... The bass overdrives sound too fizzy for me and lack warmth, need to investigate more. Sometimes I tinker around adding and removing effects and then the pedal switching stops working... E.g I add the wah pedal but somehow it just doesn't work! Quite frustrating. Still need to change the mode so I can use the individual buttons to switch different effects in and out. Using the effects loop is great for my synth pedal. Used this to DI for my last gig, no amp and in-ears. Good sound out the PA sub but again the fizzy overdrive just got annoying after a while. No idea if anyone else noticed but it bothered me a lot
  6. I have a 1506ms, best wishes with your sale!!! and thank you for the tips: Glowtec Lumo fret stickers ordered, and spring/red clip now removed from the jack socket - finally 🙂
  7. My Friend of Misery - Metallica
  8. It's all starting to make sense to me now.
  9. I believe they hail from the icy, frozen streets of Saguenay, Québec.
  10. Or a disadvantage, depending on your point of view.
  11. 200W is plenty for me (with a 1x12 cab), but I'm playing jazz and if guitarists are present they're going to be playing clean and at a sensible volume.
  12. The only way this mob could be even more bohemian is if they're not actually even French. I certainly wouldn't want to be sharing a bathroom with them in rented accomodation.
  13. I remember trying an Elf into a Vanderkley 2x10 at a SE Bash a few years ago. It was total and utter crap. To get any form of volume out of it you'd either be red lining it the whole time or using it with an 8x10 which defeats the entire point of such a small amp. Fair enough, coffee shop gig. For anything loud, it wouldn't work at all. Zero headroom.
  14. Suits you Sir, suits you.

  16. Appreciated mate unfortunately I didn't win the auction.
  17. That sounds like it could be a very expensive habit. I suppose it could be worse, though. At least you haven't discovered Alembic basses yet. If spending money on music gear helps you deal with depression then I won't criticise you for doing it. However, I can pretty much guarantee that sooner or later it will do you more harm than good because of the strain debt problems put on relationships. Also, buying stuff as a pick-me-up won't keep working forever. The novelty wears off. What then? If you're looking for happiness in material things you will always end up disappointed. It's easier said than done, I know, but it's better to seek help for the root cause of the problem than just treat the symptoms yourself, otherwise you're just storing up trouble for yourself. If chronic illness and medication are partly causing the depression, that might be able to be addressed by a specialist. Don't be frightened to ask for help. Depression is an illness, nothing more and nothing less, and there's lots of different approaches to treating it. Even if past interventions have failed, there's always another way to try. Sooner or later you will find something that works well for you, and then you will be able to enjoy music gear and everything else in life even more.

  19. Not really fussed either way about AI. I kind of thought it was just a backdrop at a photographers. I'm old school that way 😂 Dave
  20. One of the newer Classic Vibes. Upgraded pups/loom, bridge and black plate. Not weighed it but I’d say it’s less than 9lb. I can leave the straplocks on or put the original pins back on. I do not have any of the other original parts. In pretty good condition, I’ve tried to photograph any damage I can see. The back of the neck is lightly sanded, which improves it in my opinion. It’s a really nice bass in one of my favourite colour schemes but something has cropped up that I’ve got my eye on. Collection from Blackburn Lancs is preferable but buyer can arrange a courier at their expense and I’ll add a beat up Gator case that is functional for shipping and gigging but has some issues.

  21. Ha. I used to own the body. GLWTS.
  22. £50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Chrome hardware and a vintage sunburst finish. Mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and a basswood body. A retro instrument with a modern twist." Maple Top Mahogany Body Mahogany Neck Lignum Rosa Fingerboard Entwistle MBH Bridge Pickup Entwistle MBN Neck Pickup Jumbo Frets 42mm Nut Width 30" Scale Length Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

  23. I think for the more premium models yes but from the Bassdirect website it says the following but the pick guard is aluminium and maybe some more bits, not 100% sure. Body Wood: Alder Neck Material: Maple Fingerboard: Graphitex Weight: 7lbs7oz/3.5kg
  24. Welcome to my world . That’s why I prefer using the Beatbuddy at rehearsal.
  25. Maid in Heaven - BeBop Deluxe
  26. Cort A4 with John East Uni Preamp. The preamp I fitted myself. Bass generally in good condition with a number of small dings on the lower and rear edges. General minor wear and tear. I still have original electrics [and knobs] and would include these. The bass plays really well and the sound is considerably improved with the East installed. Everything works. No issues with neck. Comes with an as new Thomann padded gig bag. More than welcome to come and try it out. The bass I bought second hand about 7 years ago on ebay if I remember correctly, and the preamp I bought here on Basschat about the same time . I have far too much equipment/basses and need to cut back. Ask any questions. Would prefer pick up although happy to send at buyers expense Firm £400
