  1. Past hour
  2. I am too - I now did a practice with the setup where the lekato would have been noisy and needed a workaround, and the XVive was as quiet as a cable, so very happy with it.
  3. Little letters - Paper aeroplanes
  4. Yes, I didn't think of shaving down the bridge mounting area. Good idea. One thing worth considering with the shimming approach is that the front (neck end) pair of screws that hold the centre into the body are 65mm back from the end of the pocket. Shimming the bridge end will pivot the neck at the end of the pocket and the front screws being 65mm away from this pivot point will try a bend the neck if tightened down fully. It'll only be a slight amount and might not be a problem, but worth considering maybe.
  5. That said, the pivot point is not near the end of the neck, but it will work, start with 1 millimetre shim. If the pivot point is at the equivalent of the second octave, the elevation with a 1 degree shimming will be 1.06 centimeter.
  6. Sale only at the minute ideally but could pontentially consider trades ideally with cash my way (via pm obviously)
  7. There is this formula which is very simple to calculate the elevation: length x sin(degree), so assuming the length from the nut to the end of the neck is 81.28 centimetres (as the scale length is 32 inches), you'll get an elevation of 1.41 centimetres at its end with a 1 degree shim. So roughly, a 1 millimetre shim will give you the equivalent of a 1 centimeter bridge elevation. Check the elevation you need on the bridge and shim the neck accordingly.
  8. Hi folks Due to my ongoing arthritis issues that seem to not be improving, possibly getting a bit worse, the most reluctant sale of them all. This is a beautiful and flexible bass. This is the ACG version of the classic Jazz bass, the pickups are pretty much in the 70s position. Don't be fooled by the modest wood choice and appearance, this is a cracking Jazz bass that was produced in 2024. The bass has passive electronics with volume, Stellartone ToneStyler B10, and a 4-way coil switch, so now you have the following options on top of the volume and tone knobs: Bridge p/up only; both p/ups in parallel; both p/ups in series (particularly awesome); neck p/up only. The bass weighs in at 3.6kgs (or 8lbs in old money) so very easy to use for long gigs. It’s in great condition and will come with a good quality gig bag. Meet up of collection as I don't have any more boxes left. Work does take me around a bit so don't be afraid to ask if you're a bit further away. £900 or very near offer - it's worth every penny of that imho! I'll leave it up here for a few days but if there's no interest I'll sort out a commission sale. Spec: · Scale: 34” · Body: Black Limba with oil finish · Neck woods: 3-piece Maple with oil finish, carbon rods and asymmetric profile · Fingerboard: Rosewood · Radius: Flat · Side dots: White (might be aluminium but can't remember) · Bridge: Hipshot Type B black · Tuning machines: Hipshot Ultralites black · Pickups: 2 x ACG FB single coil (humbucking J type) · Electronics: Passive plus – Volume, ToneStyler 10 and 4-position pickup switch Here are some pics:
  9. Similarly, the worst bit of kit I bought was their "upgraded" MS-02. Connection quality at anything further than about 6 feet was awful, sound quality awful and distorted, and the push button volume controls meant it was either too quiet or too loud with no inbetween. Couldn't be in the same room as my laptop or one of the two would lose connection. I bought mine discounted on eBay for £32, and when I tried to return it the seller gave me a full refund and told me to keep it as he'd sold half a dozen that week that were all returned and he didn't want the hassle with them any more. Awful.
  10. Thanks man. Just so much fun to play. Used to play a bit of bass to so feels like a nice compromise. that’s strange for 2nd and 3rd. Just tried and it worked for me so maybe volume was down. Thanks for listening
  11. Little fluffy clouds - The Orb
  12. 2001 - 2005. In the Antipodes, that's just around the corner. Can't you go for a drive, or get on one of those weird vehicles that run on ribbons of steel and make a day of it, to try one out? In your hands is really the only way you'll know. Edit: What's return policy like in Blighty? Can't you try, not like and return? Even if you have to eat the return shipping it shouldn't be that big a loss.
  13. Today
  14. Cloud Number 9 - Bryan Adams
  15. Can you show us a pic of the neck to see the inlays please?
  16. Thanks @Chienmortbb Most of our gigs are open air or churches, etc. and the headset is fine. But we do a Christmas show of pre-1900 carols every year and the last two years that's where we've had awful feedback problems. This year I think I'm just going to rough it and go back to conventional mic.
  17. Also, please do not destroy those grilles. They have not been available for two decades now, and impossible to find on the used market.
  18. I owned this bass quite a few years ago. I bought it as a fretless, and I took it back to Martin to make it fretted. A beautiful and incredibly well made instrument. GLWTS.
  19. And they still have some of your settings on mate!!! 😍
  20. High Fade-tastic! 😎
  21. Another deal with the inestimable Grezza has gone according to plan. Thanks mate - you are a credit to Basschat!
  22. Youre not listening to the right people 👍
  23. Sterling Ray34 by Musicman
  24. Adding to possibly the mightiest feedback thread in BC history. Nik bought a book from me and is a top man!
  25. Are you talking about EBMM Musicman Sterling or Sterling by Musicman? I always remember Duracell being recommended by Musicman so that's what I always used but if they sit really tight in the compartment then it could explain why I had to change the battery box on my 2016 EBMM Sterling as the bass would completely cut out at times.
  26. Bought a tshirt from me in a seamless (ha ha) transaction. Sean is a recommended Basschatter.
  27. Nice work on 1st and 4th Josh, 2nd and 3rd appear to have no sound on my device? Either way, lovely playing. Baritone is such a glorious instrument
