Snortin' Whisky (Drinking Cocaine) One of my All-Time Favs...

I'm sure I've got a redundant pedal or two to contribute...

Not even a special (though has many of the features), but my 2016 PDN is in a completely different league to any older StingRay I've tried, and the 2018 Special I owned was much of the same. Admittedly I've never played anything pre 1990 odd I don't think, but I can imagine my feelings would be the same. But that's a whole other convo/argument 😅

Need replacement 12" speaker for Markbass CMD 121P
Matt P replied to CorrieDeee's topic in Repairs and Technical
no idea about the threaded hole in the speaker, i guess it could be a securing screw for the magnet cover but I thought these were usually glued on, is the cap loose? from the picture it looks like the thread is in the cap though so that wouldn't make much sense. if there was supposed to be a screw there then i'd expect it to be stuck to the magnet or loose somewhere in the cab. is this an issue that has appeared over time? Well said Rich - and seconded by me 🙂

Do what the pro's do. Have a wall of Blackstar for the audience and your favourite combo in an acoustic box back stage miked up for FOH. -
What's the next collectable on the second hand marketthen?
kwmlondon replied to la bam's topic in General Discussion
That's all fair, but how do you rate what's reasonable and what isn't? You can add up the materials and the hours taken to manufacture, but does that also factor in the R&D, legal protection of IP and brand, HR, admin, pension funds for a larger company with aging employees and... marketing. An instrument is a personal thing and I challenge anyone to say that their buying a bass wasn't partially emotional. If it was cold logic nobody would be playing music in the first place. So, marketing is a core cost and vital for the continuing success of a company. Is a Fodera overpriced for what it is? Is a Fender Custom Shop overpriced for what it is? Yes. No. Maybe. Probably. Possibly. It's so subjective - what's great value for one person is hideously and criminally too much money for someone else. I still haven't told my other half how much my Canadian Dingwall cost - our ideas of what's overpriced are not in alighment when it comes to musical instruments. I guess my point of view is that I'm really glad MusicMan are still going, still making instruments that people like and want to buy, and if making some expensive, limited-run basses with high profile playes names on them means they chuck out brilliant value stuff as well then good on them. Although, even with my very liberal views I'm unconvinced about those USA Joe Dart signature models but I guess we all have our limits!!! -
Rare chance to get a Kay, if that's your thing....

No offence taken, honestly! though it did sound a bit that way innit? More in the Partridge 'lets have a heated debate' spirit -

Do they sell some Pinoability along with the bass? Just asking for a friend... -

I don’t think he was personally trying to offer you. If you’re happy with what you have, then who else cares? I used to think all ply basses sounded the same but I know now that they don’t. These basses are highly prized on the Bluegrass scene where people want authentic instruments played on those classic recordings. That authenticity has a clear value. (I’m at a Bluegrass festival in Sweden now and a bass like this would be a huge hit!) What else are we going to spend our money on? -

I'm not angry, I just think it's stupidly overpriced. You may disagree, and that's OK. I'm entitled to my opinion, and if I feel moved enough to do so I will share it. But I took one look at the email that guitarguitar sent through and I said "HOW EFFIN' MUCH?!", out loud. More power to you if you buy one. If I had six grand hanging around to spend on basses, I'd buy five or six excellent basses. This kind of fetish object is an enigma to me. -
How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

I would add the Nate Mendel P bass to this list of relatively low cost, good quality instruments that would serve the needs of a bedroom player right up to a headline stadium band. The biggest factor being labour costs and volume of production.
