  1. Past hour
  2. Its surprising what folks have used to raise pick up heights. TBH i was expecting everyone to be using the same thing but bass players are very resourceful by looks of it. 😂 Dave
  3. Nothing, packed it in 8 yrs ago, my ears just couldn't take it anymore....even wearing plugs. And to be honest, there's very little 'modern' music that inspires me to want to play anyway.
  4. Calling Stingray 5 owners...could someone possibly take width and depth measurements of their SR5 neck for me?  I'd like to compare them to my SR5 Classic.  Feel free to PM.

  5. I think I’m going to get this as a back up. My ampeg SGT-DI has developed a issue that thankfully it’s under warranty and there’s a service centre not to far away. But think having this too will be good. Was looking at Microbass 3 but people saying it was noisy put me off. How is it for you?
  6. As i said before, just take lessons... Video's on YT are nice but they will never correct you which increases the chance that you'll learn the wrong techniques. Besides that, there are lot of crap lessons on YT too.. And when you've finally learned the "wrong/bad" techniques you'll get stuck someday. Its harder (and takes more time) to "unlearn" bad techniques then to learn the good ones rightaway.. Succes!
  7. 4kg (9lbs all bar the shouting..)
  8. His issue is not fretting the notes, it's releasing them too slowly.
  9. Wow!!!! Can I have a few more specs please? Nut width Bridge string spacing Weight. Thank you.
  10. Wicki Wacky House Party - The Team
  11. Wow, thought you'd never see that. Looks far too posh for the money, especially the neck. Waiting excitedly for the "Look at my huge knob" thread.
  12. Hey mate is this still available?
  13. what about 'is it any good for metal' discussion/masterclass
  14. Not quite... "Pocket" can be described as a “sweet spot” where the music feels solid and unified without feeling overly rigid or stiff. It's sort of more "feeling the groove together" rather than rigidly playing to a metronome. It's like the difference between some heavily music-schooled jazz bands that, while exceptionally tight and right-on-time, just lack that syncopated groovy feel.
  15. This is super cool! What's the Headphone amp for here? Would love a little breakdown of the signal flow. Really impressed with the Valeton GP-5, loving mine so much I might get a second to live in the gigbag...
  16. As bargains go this is right up there.
  17. I agree that styles differ but Let’s just keep it simple, he’s watching lots of beginner vids, they’ll all say “just behind the fret”.
  18. Just put your fingers right behind the fret rather than on it, and practice using as little pressure as possible with your right** hand to press the string - a light touch when playing will tire your hand less. The idea is that the string is held down just enough that it vibrates between the metal fret and the metal saddle at the other end. ** since you’re a leftie
  19. Sadowsky preamp whether onboard or pedal format. Sold pedal and have the onboard on my Jazz Bass. Zero regrets especially when playing live. Agree with all the flatwound comments posted so far,I just don't understand them in comparison to rounds.
  20. What about a chat on the practical use of compression for the gigging bass player? Some compression chats can get overly technical and alienate some folk.
  21. I havn't come across these, and not likely to with my band who rarely do functions and certainly not the posh ones. Ihad to look it up. There only seems to be one company selling them in the UK and for anyone not familiar it's a 'ceiling of sound' Lots of panels od small speakers forming a suspended ceiling directly above the dance floor. DSP is used partly for compression/limiting I suspect and also to do some phase control deliberately creating power alleys so the bass drops off rapidly as you move from under the speaker array. Reading between the lines there is probably some eq boosting the bass. To give you some idea there's a second hand system being sold for £17,000 with 64 panels totalling 576 tiny speakers. I'm imagining that with all the DSP it deliberately creates the full disco experience with all the thumping bass that implies. Maybe @EBS_freak or one of the other sound guys may have come across the system so I stand to be corrected. Where was your band positioned? I'm guessing outside of the array and that you weren't allowed to use backline or floor monitors or that if you were levels were severely limited? Do you use lectronic drums? The system wouldn't work to keep the noise down if the band were just outside the Zone Array creating 100db sound levels. The only solution for you would be for you all to use in-ears in which case you could have the sound you wanted, I've played the opening number of the set with in-ears only to find out the PA is still muted :)
  22. Today
  23. Thanks, Mokl. I was running two as a vertical stack – best live sound I've ever had!
  24. Hi. Here you go (from the Gator site)... Length 12.50" Width 19.00" Height 9.00" Cheers!
  25. For sale is my Vanderkley MNT 112 which was bought New from Bass Direct in 2020. 600W RMS and 17kg. The cab is in immaculate condition and always stored in the Roqsolid branded Vanderkley cover. I’ve recently bought the LNT 210 4ohms version, which renders the MNT112 surplus to requirements. Considering the above, this is Sale Only, and not interested in trades. Collection only from BD11 between Bradford and Leeds.
