Bass is through finishing and curing this week ready for final assembly next week. Here's a little tease of the finished top. Now radio silence until it's in my sweaty hands.

At our guitarist's suggestion, in an early iteration of Nancy Johnson, we decided to drop our surnames and go with our first and middle names. From his perspective, Pete James sounded so much more rock'n'roll than Peter Williams.

Very tempted. It reminds me of aspects of some other pedal's I've loved over the years, most namely the Tach 21 Red Ripper, and the Fuzzrocious Croak, but certainly has its own flavour. I sense a purchase incoming.

The real aim of every session bass player is a lucrative book tour filled with anecdotes. We all know that.

I have the 4 On the Floor drive with the same filters. So useful for the gigging player to dial in the right sound on the gig. Tame the highs and anger the perfect amount of low end clarity. This EQ and a dirt pedal would be such a killer combination!! If I had the space on my board and wasn’t already running a cracking preamp!

Up for grabs is my EBS Microbass II pedal, boxed and in excellent condition. Owned since new, this has been on my board for a few years now but it's still in unmarked condition and everything works as it should. £150 collected from Wellingborough or add another £5 to cover postage within the UK. Not looking for any trades, ta.

If your Precision has a "dullish" low mid thump you need a different bass. The better Precisions have a lively and resonant low mid thump.

Unless you are very lucky, when someone is paying you to play the sound in their head is the one they want. It's pointless going into someone else's session with your sound. The real pro's know that and start by giving the producer what he wants. The focus is then on the real objective of a session players day, playing faultlessly and coming up with memorable lines. The sound in your head only becomes important when its your project.

Recommendations. Bose L1 type set-up for small venues.
Woodinblack replied to Paddy Morris's topic in PA set up and use
Like most things, it is down to placement and eq. We also have a very loud-ass drummer, and yes you can get feedback if you turn things right up, but we don't generally have problems other than our singer is actually naturally quite muffled (ie, I have to turn down a lot as a backing singer to not cut through more than him). once you EQ its fine, and it is not normally something we worry about as compared to the saxophone feedback, vocal feedback is no problem! If we play outdoors I sometimes take a bigger bass amp to take myself out of the PA but in general I don't, and we can still be heard at the back. If you have facebook this is recorded from behind the bar in a busy pub https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1JZ6tcXy9j/
