AlexDelores started following New Cort shortscale bass!
-
I was really hoping Cort would do a GB SS. So much so that I messaged them on Instagram shortly after getting my Fusion 5. But, I’ve got to say, the colours of these really don’t do it for me. I could potentially get on board with the green one if it didn’t have a black headstock. Petty, I know. But the colours just look like ANOTHER cheap entry short scale aimed at children. Don’t they already have the Action Jnr or whatever it’s called as their entry level shortie? Appreciate these will likely be relatively cheap but I’m not sure why they didn’t go all out on something more in keeping with the GB range (nice wood finishes and decent hardware etc.) Rather than another budget short scale.

Spent about £45 to see Level 42 and Roachford support at Sheffield City Hall the other week - thought that was pretty good value for money.

Mmm. Fender Bassman which I can’t move or a Barefaced which I already have 😎. I’m happy you’re pleased with it Rob. Good luck with Mrs.Ossy. -

Not helping my Bassman gas at all this post 🤣 -
Bought a Strat neck from Paul, which arrived well packed and promptly and is exactly as described. 10/10 A++++ top eBayer 😁

I think the economics of being in a professional band have changed a lot. Gigs used to be a way of generating interest so people would buy your latest album, seems that has flipped around.

Does look great. I had a similar setup back in the 80s. -

Open to trades of an HX Stomp or will take £400 cash pound notes Ok this was for a project but I no longer need it. This is a brand new Allparts Jazz neck, never installed of used. Since purchasing I have added a Fender Logo supplied by Rothko & Frost and a bone nut. The frets have been dressed, fretboard oiled and it's in beautiful condition. David Wilson then completely finished the neck in lacquer with a lovely tint on the face, his work is outstanding. In total this neck owes me about £600

I'll also wager that your next gig is in a large population centre, quite close to other large population centres, relatively speaking. But even in our isolated outpost of civilisation, I'd like to think that one might hook in a few curious people. Maybe people are so skint that spending a fiver on a lineup of bands they don't know is a gamble too far. I think I'm going to be on a hiding to nothing with this point, as I'm sure a fingerpointing from someone at our lack of initiative when it comes to self promotion is in the post, so I think I'll leave it there.

Imagine it in violin brown

Bought some cables from John, all went well with the transaction and quick postage etc, the cables are good quality. Thanks!

Jazz female singers are divas. (Ok, only based on my small experience ) -
Good one, I like that, pretty heavy

Conversely my band's next gig which is still over a month away is already sold out. Admittedly the venue is small (under 100 capacity) there's 5 bands playing, and the headlining band - Social Youth Cult - are the hot new post punk/goth band and could have probably sold it out on their own...

Help with identifying this gender jazz bass

There’s nothing amiss. honestly…some dodgy inlay stickers and everyone loses their heads 😉😆 @bigmuff69 - Mark, if you want me to go and have a look let me know, assuming it’s local to you x -
I had contemplated buying tickets for Kraftwerk when they play Nottingham Royal Concert Hall next year. However my only other experience of going to a gig there was seeing The Cocteau Twins in the mid 80s and it was decidedly underwhelming being all seated with sitting down being rigidly enforced. They far more enjoyable and had a more appropriate atmosphere when I saw them some years later at Rock City. Anyway I just had a look and the only tickets available were now over £170.00! That's sitting down for a band that are all about dance music. Even if I did think that much was worth paying I can guarantee the gig won't be a patch on when I saw them in 1981 when I was down at the front and perfect positioned to "play a little melody" on one of their hand-held synths during Pocket Calculator. It probably won't even be as exciting as when I saw them again in 1991 at some seated hall in Sheffield. So that's a miss from me. At any price.

Phil Thanks very much for the comprehensive reply. I actually understand it an awful lot better now. Is there any disadvantage in more than one brace in the same direction? or using a sheet of plywood with holes as somebody else posted earlier in the thread? Or does this introduce all sorts of unknowns and a simple brace is better? Simplicity is best? Thanks Rob

As others have said it’s not just the ticket prices. I’ve been going ‘Camden way’ for gigs with a buddy for the last 5 years. We meet at the same pizza place for 2x pizza and a bottle of red before a gig. 5 years ago this was c£35. Last time it was £86. We’re discussing meeting at the door & eating at home. Stops all the catch up / socialising…

I blame Martin (@The fasting showman) for this. He sent me a message yesterday about an old Fender Bassman cab which was for sale on Facebook about an hours drive from me. I didn't know I wanted one of these cabs, and to be honest, I'm still not sure! But it was so cheap that it didn't make any sense not to go and buy it. So here it is. I am still in shock as to how big, heavy and awkward it is, the pics on Facebook didn't give a clue to scale, and I certainly needed help getting it in the back of my car from the house. Now it's home, I'm trying to figure out how to convince my wife that it's a good idea to keep it, when I don't have anywhere really to actually keep it! The speaker is a reconed JBL D140F apparently, but I'll check that out in due course. Anyway, feel free to roast my stupidity at today's purchase. Though it does look quite nice with my Bassman 50 on it I must say. Rob

The joke is on me then, I thought you were all on about the extreme selling hyperbole
-
Used it a rehearsal. It sounds great. I'm getting the hang of it, but still occasionally get thrown by the scale. Plus playing it 'at a distance ' isn't ideal. How does everyone else play their EUB's?
-
Plus, at the local level, we find it hard to get people to get off their backsides and pay a fiver at the door to come see us. Please, restrain yourselves from commenting on the quality of the fare on offer, you scamps - you know what I mean!
