For sale is my Overwater Inspiration 5 string bass. This was made at Overwater UK by Chris May & the team, the Inspiration series were made in small batches (rather than custom order) to a price point with fewer options than the Progess (particular with regards to woods available etc - pickups & hardware etc are the same as any UK Overwater), so that it could be sold cheaper than the Custom Progress basses - a similar idea to the first Japanese MetroExpress basses that Sadowsky Japan did Make no mistake though, this is absolutely still a handmade Boutique bass and absolutely sounds and plays like one too. It is in very good condition, comes with a branded overwater hard case and also with a leather DSLR branded strap that has Schaller strap locks on to fit the bass. It has an Ash body with Flamed maple top, maple neck & maple fretboard, and proprietary Overwater pickups & 3B preamp with push/pull active/passive switching This bass plays absolutely amazingly well as you’d expect and sounds fantastic - full, clear tone which can fit into anything. The neck is amazingly comfortable, thunderous low B with piano like clarity from bottom to top Year - 2015 Colour - Natural Body Finish - Gloss Body Wood - Ash w/ Flame Maple facing Neck Finish - Satin Neck Wood - Maple Fretboard - Maple Frets - 24 Scale Length - 35" Weight - 9lbs13oz I paid £1375 for this a couple of months ago and have used it for a few gigs but I am really using my active Lakland 55/AJ a lot more for the gigs I’m doing, and cannot afford to have this sort of money tied up in a bass that’s not being used all the time: I’ve seen something else I want so I have put this up for sale at very good price - it’s priced to sell (and any trade would have to take that into account when valuing their own bass) Im looking for a sale really, however trade or PX may be possible (5st only) for the right thing, but not particularly likely. I’ve taken a hit on it - it’s in excellent condition and someone will genuinely get a bargain here Price is £1150 - located in County Durham, delivery can be arranged

Soul Revolution with BBC Concert Orchestra on BBC2. Opinions?
pete.young replied to solo4652's topic in General Discussion
I really enjoyed it. For me, the vocal performances were excellent particularly Beverly Knight and Jacob Lusk, the backup singers and the orchestration were first class. -

Playing guitar (yeah, I know, but I still enjoy it at home) make mine feedback.

Another happy Custom-Lynx customer here. I like my guitar leads with angled jacks at both ends and you just can't buy them off the shelf - no problem for these guys who made my lead up with gold-plated Neutrik plugs and Van Damme cable. They also made several heavy-duty DMX lighting cables for me. https://custom-lynx.co.uk/

Best of luck to you Blonde, I’m sure everything will go just fine and it’s a lovely tribute to do for your family

For $14,500 I'll take my rather nice Jazz and pull half the frets out with my teeth. My kids (now 18 and 16) have loads of sparkly painting stuff left over from when they were five, I've got some PVA glue and I'll pour a mm or two all over it. Both my daughters went through a very pink sparkly stage at 5-6 years old, so we have kgs of the stuff left over for something or other. This is that something. I'll do it dirt cheap at around $10k and I'm cutting my own throat at that price.

Small "Hifi" amp head recommendations sought!

To date, the most transparent amp I've played is the GR Bass One series, but if you want to have the possibility to defeat the fan you'll have to choose the 800 version and use the studio mode. Furthermore GR Bass are not "overpowering" their specified output power like Eich is doing, funnily they use the same ICE power module, but they don't use the same output power specs. I've repaired a few Eich heads and there's a lot a bad marketing used to sell some bullshīt. The TrickFish Bullhead mini 500 is the other transparent amp available (Mike Pope preamp inside). Both are expensive, but worth a try. Acoustic Image, Vanderkley and Hevos are also transparent amps, but the 3 brands are out of the market and you'll have to check the second hand market. -
In my other life I play a concertina. I find I can't wear hearing aids (NHS ones) while playing as they introduce a marked tremelo effect to the sound.

A few years ago everything tstarted appearing with "I" in the name, following the lead of Apple. This has now been replaced/suplimented by "AI". As you say marketing BS.

Vistaprint here. It's handy that you can just order a reprint when you run low.

As new Genzler ‘Magellan Pre’ with box. 3 band preamp (with parametric mids), HPF & DI with A/B contour channel changeable by footswitch & set by dial. Same preamp and contours as is on the Genzler Magellan amp heads Channel A = Modern, mid scoop/Hi & Low Boost - sounds excellent for funk, R&B, slap, pop and many other styles and manages to have a mid scoop eq’d that doesn’t get lost in the mix! Channel B = Vintage, roll off highs & high mids, low mid boost and cut the ultra lows giving a really nice sound for more old school music - again can bet set from flat to subtle through to max - it’s very hard to get a a bad sound from the pedal, super transparent and very musical EQ & contours Check out the videos below for some idea of the sounds, but if you like a clear transparent preamp you won’t get a much better sound than this, and the switchable contours are some proper ‘tone magic’ Genzler Magellan Preamp/DI Pedal Features: Wide Range Input Circuitry Input and Master Volume Controls Variable High Pass Filter Switchable Dual Contours (A & B) Independent Contour Controls Same Magellan 3 Band EQ w/Sweepable Mids Signal mute Preamp Output—Capable of driving a Separate Power Amp Aux Input Headphone Output Studio Quality Direct Out Circuitry w/Pre or Post and GND Lift Lightweight Aluminum Chassis Construction Operates on any Power Supply Voltage: 9 – 18VDC, either Polarity (power supply not included) Dimensions: 6” (152mm) W x 4.3” (110mm ) D (w/ jacks) x 2.5” (63mm) H (w/ knobs and feet) Weight: 1.1 lb (0.5kg) Bought recently from Bass Direct for a fair bit more than the asking price so grab a bargain - has box and instructions Price = £165 with UK Shipping DEMO VIDS:

Welcome to the club. I bought mine way back way before Covid for the simple reason that Andertons were selling them off cheap and I couldn't resist. They started life as floor monitors and immediately gave me way more headroom before feedback down to a truly flat response. I quickly adopted them for rehearsals and the vocal sound was so good I started using them for gigs. They've become my go to speakers for small gigs and for my semi acoustic duo and my duo partner bought a second pair for his solo gigs and for us to use as floor monitors. I now put everything through them including kick and bass and my best ever live sound for bass has consistently come from these up on poles. They are completely unspectacular, they just put out the sound you feed in to them, reliably and at volume. They aren't exactly light but the compact size means they are completely manageable and oh, that vocal sound from what is really a budget speaker.

It is just as well that I no longer have a spare 5 string neck. I do not think I could stop myself. Those are lush.

Starkey is an American brand with pretty good consumer focus and easy to connect to Bluetooth devices. The audibility of the top end depends on your type of hearing loss. You can compare your audiogram to the HA's datasheet to see if they can theoretically supply sufficient amplification. The fit and type of earpieces affect the maximum output in the high frequencies. When they leak sound to the HA's mics they will trigger a built in limiter to prevent feedback.

Finally finished the design on the headstock today - kept seeing bits which displeased me, and of course the masking tape took the occasional wee chunk out of the edge so spent a lot of time with a tiny brush sorting that out, then seeing other wrong bits, resetting the clock to an hour again every time I put new paint down. Finally think I got it all and got to work on lacquering. Done 6 or 8 coats this evening - want a nice, thick layer before I start flattening it because I would hate to sand through to my paint underneath. Gonna let it harden for 24 hours or so before trying to flatten it back. 86_2007 project headstock lacquer preflattened.mp4
