  1. Past hour
  2. Yoour joke apart, I believe that Fair Deal Music are an established shop in Birmingham, with decent reviews.
  3. I’ve always been a fan of Ashdown. I had a Mag 300 410 combo that i paired with a Mag 410 cab and it sounded massive. Put a boss sd1 into a odb3 in a loop on a ls2 for drives. Input gain all the way up, all eq’s at midday apart from the hi mid which was back at about 10o’clock, squier pbass bass special with the bottom 4 of a rotosound 5 string set (we were playing in drop c#, so low e a 135 🤘🏻) and a stainless steel tipped Dava pick. It’s still wht i base all my bass sounds on to this day. I’ll build the rig back up again at some point. But damn, it was a good rig for what it cost me back then (being an Ashdown dealer helped 😁)
  4. The famous Irish Jamaican: Desmond Fekker and the Israelites

  8. Hi, thanks for your interest. The bridge is dual action, either through the body or through the back of the bridge as normal. Looks great too, pics added.

  10. Bump for Peggy, my biggest influence and a thoroughly decent chap. I’d also like to nominate Mick for Basschat librarian/archivist.
  11. Hey BC gang! Cal here. I am over in Belfast for a fesitval showcase on the 17th Jan. Its a big show for the artist, and theyre currently indie and self funded. So im wondering if any fellow BCers might be there and could help me source a (preferably upright) bass to help keep costs down for the artist? Worth a punt before they lay extortionate money to ryanair to fly my P bass! Thanks guys Cal

  17. I wonder if Mick Mason and Jon Letts are related..?
  18. Time has come to let go of this great bass rig. Had this for gigs but only got through one before the band had issues again. If I play again will be going to a power amp/modelling pedal and In ear setup as most of the places I can practice are quiet or have cabs available. Head sold ..... Markbass MB58R 104 PURE Bass Cab 4ohm 800watt version This is a light exceptionally portable bass cab With great bass response which is surprising after you have carried it in. Has an adjustable tweeter and is just a great cab. Weight is around 16kg so an easy one person lift. Sounds great is great would keep it but is just taking up spare room space. Featuring four 10" custom designed neodymium speakers housed in a spacious cabinet, it produces articulate tones with a rich. fulfilling bass response. 19. Perceived tone will change with a volume change, that's just in the physiological functioning of human ears. I realise, of course, that some musicians do not seem to have human ears (or, at least, human hearing...). There is no 'magic bullet' that compensates 'automatically' to keep it all 'as one wants it'; some adjustment around the original change is most often required, or acceptance that it's changed, and it's fine. (Disclaimer : I'm a drummer, so what would I know ..?)
  20. Vigier Passion with: - carbon neck - 5 string wide neck (the same spacing as the 4) - 4 string size body - lightweight (as I already own a 4 string Passion, double these with Delta metal fretlesses)
  21. I’ve put two different makers long metal rulers side by side and they didn’t line up to each other (using the cm/mm), something to check if possible.

Very nice! Had an original SB1000 in black for many years when I was gigging in an 80s New Romantic tribute band. Looked (and sounded) the biz & never had any issues with it. Enjoy!!
  23. All those dates are ok for me.
  24. I have a Crimson Guitars notched bass version, not cheap but will do pretty much every bass scale length and is all you'll ever need. Annoyingly I had to round off one of the top corners (near the hanging loop) as it was fouled by the wood behind the nut on my 35" bass: https://www.crimsonguitars.com/products/notched-straight-edge-for-bass You can also make your own notched straight edge out of a regular one or a steel ruler
