  1. Past hour
  2. Whiskey in the Jar - Thin Lizzy
  3. There’s a big thread on this 👍
  4. Nice 👍
  5. I've recently had 2 violin basses, a contemporary union jack bass and a 1964 bass. both are marvellous instruments but the '64 is just amazing. recently sold the union jack bass but the '64 is going nowhere. It is so easy to play
  6. That's fine unless you use a pick! 😂
  7. At Peach Guitars Colchester who sell these you can choose online the serial number / weight / look It’s a far better system so at least visually you can see the top and also the weight of the basses for sale They are working differently to many stores and offer a great personal service especially if you book a visit to try out products etc
  8. Just to clarify: Northern Ireland is not part of the EU. Although it follows some EU rules for goods, shipments from Northern Ireland to the EU (e.g. Croatia) are treated as imports from outside the EU, so EU import VAT (and possibly customs) applies unless VAT is prepaid. Best regards
  9. I'm using elixir nickels on all my basses now. I get 9mths to a year on working basses and my Warwick Thumb 10+ yrs but it rarely gets played and doesn't leave the house these days. (too heavy for a full gig but i just love playing it at home) I guess you could change out the pick up for something else ? Keep us posted on how the string change develops. I'm really curious. Have you tried asking Sandberg to see what they say as it looks like its an issue for others too. Dave
  10. I’d like to see a Lionel configured like this….
  11. It’s interesting that you I’ve observed the same thing I did with my new one…. I wonder if anyone who has swapped the pickups out (as many seem to do) have noticed a change in this? It’d be a more dramatic change, but I’d also like the see what difference reversing the pickup would make.
  12. It depends how you do it. Just ignore the low B and thumb-root on E until you need to go lower, or if using the B would avoid open E. If someone asks you to change key down/up by 1 st you can then do it easily whereas if you’re playing with open strings you can’t. Just use it when it makes things easier
  13. I'm sure both have their own sound from the circuit, but I think the key difference is the EQ. Both have drive, and on both you've got a lot of control of the highs and lows, but only the Super Vintage has the midrange controls. The mids and upper mids is where you'll get a lot of your tone (I'm assuming) if you're playing rock music for that pick attack. The B15 is typically associated with pop, R&B, soul et etc, so may not be the historically correct tonal platform for rock, whereas the SVT is. You're best bet is to find out how other players/bands got the tones you like. All that said, it's a great piece of gear either way, and there's a lot of videos showcasing it doing more than just the R&B/Motown thing.
  14. I’ve got D’Addario Chromes on mine (which are 45-100). What I did do was slightly lower the low half of the pickup and slightly raise the upper half. That may have helped a bit (or I’ve just got more used to it). It’s currently not troubling me. Overall, still not TOTALLY convinced by the pickup, but loving playing the bass. I think it’s the most natural/comfortable short scale bass I’ve played, ergonomically. And the neck is sweet. I’ve just sold my long scale fretless and now wishing I’d bought the fretless Lionel that popped up here earlier this year….
  15. Today
  16. The band has been going for longer than when I joined 13 years ago. It's technicaly the drummer and guitarist's band. I've filled in with other bands and joined other bands as side projects to make up for a lack of interest in the past. The singer has had babies in the last 2 years. Lives evolve. I'm not sure I currently have time or energy for another band unless they're gig ready and don't insist on endless rehearsals for no reason.
  17. Seven Seas of Rhye - Queen
  18. 6:00 - Dream Theater
  19. I would also say it’s recorded in the studio using a pick although in the clip he’s playing fingerstyle The attack on the notes sounds very pick like
  20. Reimagining of the classic 400 with ClassD power section from the Subway series Tube in the preamp and striped back eq options with no graphic.
  21. The bottom neck, with the sunburst effect, is going to be mine. I did want custom inlays but we don't have a laser engraving machine yet. Maybe in the future though.
  22. NIne In The Afternoon - Panic! At The Disco
  23. I want to be able to hardwire an android tablet to my X18 desk via the ethernet port. This works fine with a laptop. I did some research and purchased this which I assumed would do the trick. It didn't. In fact it appeared to do nothing at all. Does anyone have any advice?
  24. I had to look very closely at my Space 5 to see that the top wasn't a single piece of wood. There's about 5cm between the pickups where there's a slight difference in shade between the two sides. If GG said they were inspecting it, and presuming that the mismatched top was explicitly stated as unacceptable on the first instrument, then it seems like a very good case for returning it and expecting the shipping cost to be covered. Or ask them for £200 off the price and put veneer on the top, thus making an attractive and unique instrument.
  25. Thanks both. I have got pretty close now by fiddling with the chorus settings and changing the compressor model.
