  1. Past hour
  2. Dropped to £180, without the spare strings I was originally including. This bass is in hardly used, mint condition.
  3. Reading through this thread, seems to me there's a bit of a regional divide here? Pirate seem to be competitive on price and are regularly used by several London based BC'ers (me included), whereas there often appear to be better value, manned alternatives outside the capital?
  4. For sale is the Microtubes B7K Ultra V2 which has the AUX input as well. Great sounding pedal with amazing ability to sculp both the tone on the preamp side and the distortion on the drive side of the pedal. There is some very impressive sounds that can be had out of this pedal. The pedal comes with the original box and all the goodies that came with it. I bought this pedal 3-4 years ago but the sound is a bit too much for the bands I am in. I was always hoping to use it but it has literally sat in the box the whole time. I had thought I might use it also as an emergency DI for gigs but I have never needed it. I would be really interested in trades for Iron Ether Nimbus and/or Polytope because the funds coming from this will go towards those pedals. If I was playing heavier music this pedal would absolutly be staying.
  5. The one in The Gallery is a nice thing. I tried it the other day. Thin neck, nice tone, looks the part. My reservation is that I think it might be a bit pricey for what it is. But I guess the gallery has overheads that we don't. Your shortscale will undoubtedly be nicer to play, and what with these both being quite 'thumpy' semi acoustic basses, I doubt the scale length will make any real diff to the tone. GLWTS!
  6. Just got back home from watching Ozzy come through town 1 last time, definitely an atmosphere of celebration, to be expected with a guy like him. Plenty of tourists and lots of pride on show from Brum natives, which is nice to see. Managed a couple snaps of Sabbs bridge on Sat as I was in the area, streams of people coming to pay their respects.
  7. Oh I'd definitely use them ALL the time if they paid me 😅
  8. Oh yeah, I tried those as well. Ive never been too impressed with any of the cobalt line.
  9. Tony Levin has a couple of beautiful peach 5ers - there’s a picture on this thread: Failing that I’d go for black or white but with a sparkle or pearlescent so it’s not totally plain
  10. All of my basses are wired stereo. It’s the only way I play. Amazon has a couple of cables the are stereo on one end and a split to two mono plugs on the other end.. I have used them and keep a few for backups… I have used this but I prefer a right angle plug on the the bass… https://www.amazon.com/ZTOXLR-Stereo-Y-Splitter-Insert-Breakout/dp/B0CN465827/ref=sr_1_8?crid=29WUCWVRGQ8B5&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9._Z1bbJ9bqjtm6Sy4tqUx5IhwOp2CO4G1RhEnGQZncoSGhO_ZVtEbZhWPwW7mo-oKImkK8HBxr4vwravZeInVyE0_JG_SgirRdrze_W3JlkcAc1WE5zmZWvFVDZVpIDxIUmma_GfD89PUQHHtBLVYNXc458aQUTdlToGC7fPzr_ayo9NAOiFhCX-bjWpGBBmVOCaLBVpJXatQRKUtryycw0uzd_jyRTUFT5Mz9C2E5IE.-XcELX3ywQpySBBAQmd3K4RiU-GPPCkt4oaEUDxK60c&dib_tag=se&keywords=1%2F4%2Binch%2Btrs%2Bstereo%2Bto%2Bdual%2B1%2F4%2Binch%2Bts%2Bmono%2By-splitter%2Bcable&qid=1753885273&sprefix=1%2F4%2Binch%2Btrs%2Bstereo%2Bto%2Bdual%2B1%2F4%2Binch%2Bts%2Bmono%2By-splitter%2Bcable%2Caps%2C187&sr=8-8&th=1
  11. Hi Steve, yes I looked into the technical diagrams of my American Original and found that they still use 250k pots. So the real difference must be in the pickups. I’ll do some recordings when they arrive before and after… The Fender set is only £109 as well, so good value.
  12. Just seen a video and thought the same. People whooping as Sharon gets out the car. Madness
  13. so you decided for the pickups over the pot capacity changes then? Lol. Let me know how it goes with the Fenders as I would like to move away from the Wilkinsons. If they get you closer to the sound of your American then we may have struck value for money bass gold!! An affordable jazz bass that is on par with a Fender American
  14. Ah, those aren't in the list. Another thought I've had is some 3.5mm to 6.35mm adapters don't always make great connection with the sleeve of the headphone plug resulting in a very odd frequency response. Might be worth trying a different adapter if you have one, or comparing the sound at your mixing setup to plugging the headphone straight into your phone without using an adaptor?
  15. Prior to the signature set coming out, there were adverts of Pino endorsing the standard cobalt flats, so one hopes he was actually using them. Prior to that, as stated above, LaBellas and, apparently, Thomastiks (I didn’t know that, so thanks for the info @Misdee) and probably stills does on some basses.
  16. Still available, but now advertised elsewhere. Cheers, Steve.
  17. This js my homemade spraying jig(mk1). I had it poking into a couple of cardboard boxes taped together with an old fan blowing out the garage door. I am about to build a proper mdf booth with someone’s used hydroponics extractor fan, lights and some proper ducting to sort the overspray
  18. I second what martin has described In terms of tone. I’ve the same bass. Mine made in 78 strung with chromes. Sustain is great also. The profile of neck is copied from the late 70’s fender precision (ash body maple fretboard) so is a profile B. Very comfortable to play. It’s so articulate for a Pbass. Sometimes a pbass with tone down can sound muddy and bassy but this bass is bassy and articulate. Chords sound beautiful on these. If a funk machine lol Bargain of a price as they are worth more. I got offered more than this for mine when someone played it. GLTWS.
  19. The way I see it, it's already been modified so why not keep going and improve it? That's what I did with my 66 mustang which turned out to be one of the best bass decisions I ever made!
  20. I think I would start with one of the new Squier Broncos as the modding platform though. It seems a shame to be doing this to a genuine old Musicmaster but then, in the 70s and 80s it was probably cheap and unloved.
  21. What varies is the electronics of these early models. This one has the original Japanese electronics. Is it of worse quality? Hehe, I think the Japanese electronics are just as good as the others. Even much better.

  23. That's what matters to me. I don't want all my basses the same.
  24. Oh yeah. Smorgasbord Addict.
