LFSys and Barefaced Questions - Super Compact, Monaco and Monza?
eude replied to Linus27's topic in Amps and Cabs
I replaced two BF One10s with a single LFSys Monza, for similar reasons. It's been a while since the change and I'm still absolutely delighted every time I plug in, regardless of what volume I'm at! The build quality on the LFSys cabs is far superior in my opinion too, so you'll be getting something built to last. If you regularly go LOUD with your Two10, I would look at the Monaco, as the 12" speaker will give you more, but for me, so far, the 1x10 Monza is way louder than what I was getting with my two One10s. As noted above, you're not comparing apples with apples if you're considering a Super Compact vs an LFSys cab. The crossover and additional mid/high driver of the LFSys, will really bring out more of the nuances from fretless playing. As far as the difference between the LFSys and a BF BigBaby, more like apples and apples, the BigBaby seems to be truly FRFR, and the LFSys is too, yet somehow, it's subtly more suited to bass guitar, it's still a bass cab, not a PA speaker. So in summary, I'd go for an LFSys cab Cheers, Ewan -
Exactly. It had to happen that someone would play the "Jaco" card and sure enough... Who cares? Jaco may have been a great player, but he was also known to be, erm, difficult. You wouldn't want him in your band. He'd turn everything into the Jaco show, arrive for gigs off his face and generally be a PITA. It got him killed in the end (you have to be pretty deluded about yourself to think picking a fight with a doorman is a good idea). People like that are best admired from afar. I'm one of those who finds Danny K amusing. I wouldn't pay money for anything he's played and I wouldn't claim he's the greatest thing since sliced bread, but I like some of what he does. He seems a decent sort. Who cares that he doesn't have "ground-breaking talent"? Few do.

vinorange started following Limited Edition Pillar Box Red Rickenbacker 4003s. Mint

Up for sale is my 2019 Rickenbacker 4003s in limited edition pillar box red. Unusually for a Ric these came with a maple fretboard. Bass is near mint condition, set up nicely it plays great and sounds as only a Ric can. Apparently there were only 25 of these made for the UK market so it is a bit of a rarity. It comes with the Ric certificate and all the tags too. There are a few very tiny lacquer chips on the bottom edge. I couldn't really see them let alone photograph them but they are there somewhere. They are only the top coat of lacquer so not through the paint at all. The case has typical Ric case single foot damage but other than that the bass is mint condition. Weighs in at 4.2kg on the kitchen scales and now can be seen in a better light with new pics - more than can be said for my grass. Sale only as I need to downsize due to our impending house move. I can meet an up to an hour from The Wirral or ship anywhere.

It’s a puzzler, this. And it seems to be more expensive than the West Ham version. -
The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!
JohnDaBass replied to Baloney Balderdash's topic in Bass Guitars
I guess which ever one you buy, knowing a little about your bass tastes, you'll probably upgrade the Pups. (£60-£80). So I would be inclined to add a used G&L Fallout Tribute and a used Squier SS Jaguar to your list. If you recover fully and return to 34ins scale basses , chances are you would loose less when you move on your Short scale bass. Best wishes on a speedy recovery. -
if you want a really cheap option the i've got a couple of the Behringer ADi 21 pedals in my pedal stash and i'd be willing to part with one cheap, I've swapped over to the Studiospares EQ/di units and the Behringer's aren't being used anymore. (the studiospares unit would also be a good shout if you can find one but since they were discontinued the supply seems to have dried up as everyone is holding on to them.) Matt

I imagine it is and always has been a largely commercial decision. I guess it's a manufacturers job to estimate the cost:benefit ratio of every new model, either in terms of sale of that model or in wider brand awareness/status (I'm sure some if not many signature models are exercises in PR as opposed to product line extension), and if that estimate suggests that putting Flea or whoever's name on the model is going to tilt it in favour of benefit, then they'd be foolish not to? BUT I really wouldn't want to be the person who rubber stamps any of them

Get some rounds on your P bass. Broader frequencies are then available - a little goes a long way - and you can dial it back if it's too much. Also, support the soloist by playing a little bit more - some double stops to help outline the chords - the odd harmonics to do the same and add interest or flavour. Most of my playing recently has been with a guitarist pal of mine and yes when he takes a solo, it's just me left being the band. To be honest, it fits well with my own style - I've never been one to hide away at the bottom end but I have to say that audiences tend to like it and I constantly get comments about how refreshing it is to hear someone playing "up front" and how rare that is these days. So consider giving it a go - to my mind this is more about mindset than effects pedals.

LFSys and Barefaced Questions - Super Compact, Monaco and Monza?
stevie replied to Linus27's topic in Amps and Cabs
Hi @Linus27. Thanks for considering LFSys cabs. The main difference between the Monaco and Monza, apart from the obvious things like size and weight (and price), is the sensitivity, which is a direct result of the smaller cabinet size. Tonally, they are very close, but the Monaco will go louder than the Monza when pushed. -
Depends upon what you mean by flat, it's pretty high build and you won't get rid of all the brush marks but you can get quite a nice 'linen' texture with a short pile roller. I have tried sanding TuffCab and i have multiple types of sander. It's well named and I gave up on that one

This thread is well depressing, no? Haven't some of you surly curmudgeons got something better to do, I dunno, like play bass or something? It's not like any of us here don't need the practice.

Has `Arry ever used a black P-bass - not that I`m a major fan or anything but only ever seen clips of him with the blue or white ones. -

LFSys and Barefaced Questions - Super Compact, Monaco and Monza?

I have the 600W/8 ohm LFSys Monaco (with 12" speaker, port and tweeter) and it has more than met the requirements of various situations without any complaint or struggle.... Small rehearsals Large rehearsals with a 9 piece band Pub gigs Club/Arts Centre gigs Theatre gigs It is articulate, clean and punchy.... but handles plenty of low end and has excellent dispersion. Basically it can cleanly reproduce whatever you put into it... and I can also hear it clearly from over the other side of my drummer...! It's also lightweight and neatly proportioned and one of the best gear purchases I have ever made. Customer service is excellent and personal too as it is within this community. -

A cynical money grab that has nothing to do with Steve Harris in colour, pickups or hardware appointments. It's just a standard P Bass with a silver/mirror scratchplate. -
There are a couple of reasons for this though such as demographics and changing tastes. I don’t know many young people who listen to the radio, buy records or go to gigs by unsigned artists. They do seem to use social media and festivals with big names are a big thing though. Add in unaffordable housing, expensive transportation and food and all the rest and being a YouTube musician is probably more appealing than the traditional route to making a living in music. The overheads are low and the audience is online.

You're not, they are!

Everyone who has met him says he's a decent bloke. Everyone who hasn't can't stand him. Someone once told me "Have you ever met a hater doing better than you?". Think that rings pretty true in this case.

Fender amp grill cloth replacement
northstreet replied to Richard R's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've got a similar issue with my Rumble 100. It seems to be easy enough to remove the grille, it should come off just by pulling on that black fabric tab at the bottom right. As you say, it also seems easy enough to get some replacement cloth. What's put me off is the thought of removing and then replacing the many staples that hold the cloth in place - and making it look neat. If you do decide to have a go, I'd be grateful if you could share your progress - if it goes well it might tempt me into fixing mine.
