....anyway - how do these cabs sound in real life? Anyone?
Bingo!

Anyone?

I for one am very happy this isn't me involved in an online dispute.

From my rock n roll perspective, I just hope it sounds good and performs well, that is all I care about.

If you like a cab that rocks this is a great option, huge volume great depth of tone, slightly aggressive upper mids and very light, copes with eq very well.sounds good with Orange amps......

I am reminded of when I was a hifi geek and some of the reviews had technical and listening tests. The number of times they ended up saying "measured great, sounds pants" and "measured pants, sounds great" was probably why they stopped measuring.

I gave up when it got to the stage where people were advocating sticking plasticised carbon dots around the room to combat sound damaging static fields. I think I remember that correctly...

Now very intrigued to hear one of the Baer cabs. Not in the market mind, but my interest has been piqued.

This just means someone doesn't know how to apply test results to reality.

Gah! I've just measured the door of the cupboard I keep my gear in - literally the ONLY place in the house safe from rampaging children - and the ML112s are 1/2" too wide to fit through.

That's me out of the running :(

I'm guessing that's if you rotate them and haven't missed the obvious? :P

Are you sure you've measured them correctly? Trying them in person is the only meaningful way of checking!

Two ML112s for sale at BassDirect. So someone can get to try them and form a fair opinion using their own ears ... http://www.bassdirec...Baer_ML112.html

Those cabs are absolutely mint with very light usage, nicely broken and ready to go, I know because they were mine!

That would be a problem from my POV as well.
I use 2x210 on the bigger gigs and the 2x112 for smaller ones...
so having the 2x112 option taking up the same sort of footprint will not really work..
I may as well just take out the 2x210's as I prefer them.

Storage and car isn't an issue tho..

Congratulations, you have got a really good deal there, Mark told me he was going to put them up for 500 each. What are you going to drive them with?

Hi Roger, Mark or Lana, a couple of questions comparing the performance of ML112 cabs.

I'm not talking metal or heavy rock, but will 2 ML112 cabs be equal to 2 AE210 or DB210 cabs for tone and volume on a loud gig? This is a gig where 2 210's would be used in preference to 2 112 cabs.

Would 1 ML112 equal 2 112 cabs at volume, and would 2 ML112 cabs be an equal for my 3 AE112 cabs, at volume?

Amp will be an Ashdown Spyder 550. Can't wait to have a "proper" midrange ! May I ask you what was not to your taste in the Baer cabs ?

Hi Chris,

The Baer ML112 is very similar in output and tone to the AE210, it has a little more ultimate low end ability and less top end, although the Baer can sound quite bright as the midrange driver goes to 9k I believe.2 ML112's will be similar to a good 410, maybe like an AE410 but with a bit more low end.
Are your AE210's the earlier or later versions? the later ones are a bit less aggresive in the upper midrange making them sound more refined and polite.
A single ML112 will sound bigger and louder than a single AE112 but would not match an AE112 stack.
If I already owned your AE210's I would feel no need to change to the ML112, you would get a very slight weight saving and a slight chage in cab voicing but that is all, and nothing that a little eq work can't overcome. The ML112 is also a bigger box than the AE210, The Bergs are remarkably compact!
Think carefully before you let them go, they are getting quite rare and are one of the best 210 cabs around!

Ian
