edstraker123 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Heartbreaking ! I saw his birthday in the paper the other day and couldn't believe he was 63. What a sad loss. Quote
walshy Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Yeah gutted. Was just looking at his upcoming tour and was going to buy tickets. Sad and no age really. Some of his lines were majestic 1 Quote
StingRayBoy42 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Absolute bombshell. Mani's one of the reasons I started playing Bass. 1 Quote
TheLowDown Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago RIP Mani. Far too young. They were one of my fave bands during the Madchester years. Quote
mr4stringz Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Awful news and unbelievably heartbreaking for his two young lads, who’ve lost both parents within a couple of years. Quote
ra0ulduke Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago The Stone Roses were one of the most important bands of my life. I used to play along to Mani's bass lines in my childhood bedroom. 63 really isn't old. That's very sad. 1 Quote
Bassman1974 Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago Gutted for his boys to lose both parents at such a young age. RIP Mani. Such a huge influence. 1 Quote
edstraker123 Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago (edited) Is there a bass intro that moves people like this does ( no others I can think of) ... Edited 1 hour ago by edstraker123 Quote

He will be missed, but will be well remembered. Edited 19 minutes ago by mep 1 Quote
Russ Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Literally just saw this. Gutted. Probably the most quietly influential British bass player of the last 40 years. There is no bass player in the UK of a certain age who didn't implicitly know the bass parts to Fool's Gold, She Bangs The Drums or Waterfall, or that bass break from I Am The Resurrection. 2 Quote

All four of the above will be getting blasted out on my Ric tonight. Albeit with way less finesse and talent than the man himself. 1 Quote
Marvin Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Our local arts centre was one of the venues he was coming to on his talk/tour he was going to do. I thought 'blimey, that's a big name to come to this little old town'. I'm genuinely shocked. 1 Quote
Judo Chop Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Very sad to hear that, he was one of the players that got me interested in learning how to play. This one in particular always stood out to me. What an incredible player he was. Quote
Bassbooksbikes Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Fantastic bassist, some iconic riffs. She bangs the drum, immediately comes to mind. Quote
danhkr Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago One of my all-time faves and without doubt one of the good guys. RIP Mani 😔 Quote
ash Posted 59 minutes ago Posted 59 minutes ago Sad to hear this, RIP Mani and condolences to his family and friends. Quote
KingPrawn Posted 58 minutes ago Posted 58 minutes ago My heart goes out to his 2 young lads. Their dad was an important player. 1 Quote
AndyTravis Posted 28 minutes ago Posted 28 minutes ago Met him around the time of the stones reunion, he just mooched in to the shop, we spoke about neck dives on Jack Casady basses. He was lovely. great player and a big hero to many. Quote
Grooverjr Posted 8 minutes ago Posted 8 minutes ago This has made me genuinely feel empty inside. A real hero from my youth and a definite influence on me when I was around that age. The Roses purple patch produced what, to my taste, is some of the best and most evocative music and a lot of that was the bass riffs and how they worked in with Reni's drumming (this hi hats!) He even made Primal Scream sound decent for a while, which was no mean feat! I will be raising a glass tonight, and dusting off the old Roses songbook. RIP Mr Mountfield Quote
mikegatward Posted 3 minutes ago Posted 3 minutes ago Sad news - had the pleasure of briefly meeting him at Wembley at a Man Utd champions league final. Came across as a really decent bloke. i miight buy a toby jug to put on my amp at the next gig in his honour Quote
