My thoughts on Rod Stewart’s Glastonbury set. For me, it started badly, it tailed off a little in the middle, and the less said about the end, the better.
But, apart from that, excellent.

I enjoyed what I saw of Rod Stewarts set, and it looked like he and his band did too. Also thought Ronnie Wood seemed to be having more fun than he does with the Stones.

Just seen Olivia Rodrigo do a song called Brutal, which sounded a lot like Pump It Up by Elvis Costello, so did a google and turns out he was more than happy with it and said no legal action - fair play Elvis!

I saw about 3 minutes of Rod Stewarts set.  The pyramid stage, really? Was everyone else busy this year?!

The Prodigy were freaking awesome. Did a quick text round of the lads and the guitarist was oggling Olivia Rodrigo prancing around in her basque rather than watching the rawking on the Other Stage. Their light show was nearly as good as the set I bought from Thomann!

 

Franz Ferdinand were great. Scissor Sisters were absolutely fabulous - what a show! Snow Patrol were... um, Snow Patrol.

 

I'm currently catching up on Gary Numan and really enjoying it. But not as much as watching the crowd that doesn't seem to get him and are wondering why he hasn't done Are Friends Electric? yet. He's got a great rock goth vibe going on with his band

 

I have loads of stuff to catch up on. Ezra Collective are top of the list. My lad was watching them earlier and they sounded really good.

Strangely they watched the music as if bludgeoned into silence, but there was a roar of appreciation and hand waving at the end of each song.

Oddly I thought the crowd noises were subdued this year , almost as if they were deliberately being dubbed out , mic’d down, EQ’d to a murmur or just plain ignored.

i noticed it on most shows .

I've just got back and I must say it was super enjoyable. It was my first Glastonbury but I was also playing 4 shows so slightly different being there as an artist rather than a member of the public. We did get ferried in and out, fed and in a quiet camping area with only about 20 tents. I will also say our facilities were ace with soap, running water, sinks, toilet paper and food and drinks.

Highlights for me were Ash, The Script, Alanis Morissette, Cliffords and Badbadnotgood. Neil Young was also really good, just for his band and the guitar shredding. The best though was a band called The Coronas, they were absolutely incredible. Also watched Alessi Rose and despite not being my thing, she was very good. Her bassist was using a black Fodera. Also saw Tom Odell and again, not my thing but very good. Watched a bit of Kneecap which was interesting and then they sat near our tents today so had a chat with them. Our drummer went to see Biffy Clyro and said they were his highlight and Weezer was also really good according to our guitarist.

The worst was 1975, absolutely dreadful and people were walking out. They were so bland and a cross between background music and Busted. Pulp were a bit boring but I've never been a fan so probably wasted on me. The ones I did know were good and Jarvis Cocker is an awesome frontman. Haim were also really disappointing.

 

As for the flags, every other flag was a Palestinian one and it became a bit of a running joke as so many artists were making a statement at some point during their set.
