There's been some good acts on today - Supergrass, Franz Ferdinand, Alanis Morisette, Biffy Clyro and now 1975 and Fratellis. I get it might not be everyone's cup of tea, but they are mine, and these are all bands/artists that are either currently popular or have been at some point in the past 30 years.

I missed Alanis....thank goodness for iplayer

Yep. So far I have enjoyed Osees, Loyle Carner, badbadnotgood and am looking forward to watching burning spear and vieux farka toure.

Agreed. Some of the world music acts (ie not indie or pop) are just incredible. Also saw a few folk acts whose voices were just amazing.

Watched a bit last night

English Teacher - excellent, bought their album

Super grass - dialling it in 👎

Wet Leg. Not bad, singer has very nice bum

Wundahorse - loved 'em. Huge energy and very heavy. + Kim Wilde's son on guitar.....guess he should be in America 😊

Loyle somebody. A rapper. Rap isn't my thing but I enjoyed his set, sort of a jazz/funk rap vibe

Franz Ferdinand - not a fan tbh but their set was great. Bassist had a very interesting Rickenbacker - a 3000 series I think.

The 1975 - so so, a bit dull tbh

Looking forward to tonight's offerings

English Teacher is the only act that I've managed to watch live so far. Never heard of them but I too thought they were ace 👍

I haven't watched the English Teacher set but if the consensus from people who have seen it is anything to go by, I think it'll be the first thing I put on when I'm back home later today. Also going to try and find the Fratellis and Ash sets from yesterday if I can.

Very much looking forward to watching Maccabees tomorrow night too.

Still annoyed with the bassist for not keeping to Flea’s line in “You oughta know.”

Well I never knew HF was Kim Wilde's son.... Wunderhorse's bassist's father is Biff Byford.

It just shows how tastes can differ because I thought English Teacher were very dull. Contemporary alternative rock by numbers. There is nothing remotely new or original about their music or performance.

For me, CMAT have stolen the show so far from what I have seen.

As a show of hands from the people complaining, is your taste in music:

A: purely music over 30 years old and firmly placed in the classic rock camp (IE- Guns n Roses, AC/DC, any of a number of other bands still touring but sounding like shite because they're clearly too old to still be doing it)

Or

B: never been particularly popular, like some of this assemblage-of-words-and-throw-"core"-on-the-end that only real nerds of the genre have heard of (looking at you, "post-folkcore").

So expressing an opinion that is different from makes you think think I am probably either old and outdated or a niche obsessed nerd. Nice.

I go into today (as everyday) with an open mind :)

I think it was a lighthearted joke, don’t take it too seriously.

Biffy Clyro on the Pyramid stage, not sure why The 1975 are on after them, seems the wrong way round.

Because while both are past their sell-by date, the 1975 aren't quite as stale, and neither have been going long enough to get a second wind as "legends".

a bit of CMAT

Having seen her on Later a while ago I'll be steering well clear. But some folks are clearly huge fans!!! It clearly takes all sorts...

Shall hopefully be catching up with Bob Vylan later, then search for entertaining oddness, like the Porn Crumpets last year!

I thought she was terrific on Later. For me, she's got real star quality.

Like we've both said, there's a huge divergence of opinion on what's good and what's  not. Nothing wrong with that.

Inspired by this thread, I thought I’d do a bit of catch up on iplayer, whilst doing some chores. For me, it’s like an extended, outdoor version of Jools’ Later, without the boogie woogie - all a bit meh. Just listening to Inhaler’s sub U2 performance (it’s genetic I guess), that P bass through the SVT is marvellous, what a roar!

My daughter came home for a bit earlier for another gig this afternoon (4th in two days, 5th tomorrow) and on her way back to Glastonbury all excited to see Deftones tonight, her favourite band and then they announced on their social media they've had to cancel due to illness in the band. She is not happy. I shall continue to wind her up about how many times I've seen them.

Oh shite, gutted, was looking forward to Deftones.

Mixed feelings about Kneecap playing. I listen to a lot of anarcho-punk that can have some pretty muddled up politics, but a band that seem predicated entirely on IRA cosplay rubs me up the wrong way. Perhaps it's just because I was minutes away from being blown up by an IRA bomb in London back in the 90s, but a band that openly celebrate an organisation that deliberately targeted civilians and are now just an organised crime syndicate sickens me.

Ah, that kind of kneecap then.

Not for me either if so.

Yup, their name is a reference to the IRA's use of a shotgun blast to the knees of suspected informers or rival drug gangs.

Same band that also openly praise Hamas and Hezbollah at their gigs, and tell their audiences things like "the only good Tory is a dead Tory, kill your local MP". Only to then be called out on it in light of things like the murders of Jo Cox and David Amess, and issue a half arsed apology that just screams "we're not sorry for what we did, only sorry we got caught".

No, I'm not a fan. They seem like they all need a slap.

Just watched Nova Twins set. Absolutely ridiculous bass sounds being produced - loved it!

Don't have a TV or license to watch iPlayer, but was wondering if Georgia South was playing her red Westone (I admire her taste in bass guitars).
