What’s this bass then?

Caught ToTP from 1980 (I think). Some group called The Dooleys… never heard them before, but was distracted trying to ID the bass. Never seen anything like it, but I’m sure someone will be along shortly to reveal all about the bass, the bass player, and The Dooleys!

Try to be Abba without the talent and this is what you get... Terrific drumming indeed @Dad3353, I guess some punk drummers must be jealous. 🤪🤘

That said it's indeed a Shergold Modulator (named this way, because you could buy extra modules...) just like the lower half of Mike Rutherford's emblematical instrument.

What splendid drumming. 9_9

Apart from around the 3 minute mark when he presumably forgets it’s the single edit they’re miming to and misses the drum fill!

I was getting the Dooleys mixed up with the Nolans for some reason

Not without good reason: the bloke that  wrote this  song for The Doolies (Michael Myers…) also wrote ‘I’m in the Mood for Dancing’ for The Nolans according to my brief research on the internet!

never before realised that Rush had bothered the UK singles chart!

Rush had 12 singles in the UK top 75 singles chart, when it was a real chart run on real record sales 😄
