First hearing, apparently.

Perhaps others on basschat will be better able to explain what this means?

As one of the offences can carry a significant prison term the Magistrates can't deal with it.

So it's probably been kicked up to the Crown Court for a full jury trial.

With the gross underfunding of the CJS I would expect that to take place no earlier than 2027.

It may be that he’s a nice guy who’s fun to be around and pays well for the band.

No. This is what my guitarist said when I told him of the court case. We're both from Leicester btw.

Oh yeah he's well known amongst theatre musos. Plenty of local musos have been ripped off by him. He runs a few theatre shows - Carpenters, Robbie, Queen etc. Tim's done a handful of deps for him but insists on payment upfront to his bank account. Probably earning a fortune as the shows all do really well, and loads of dates too.
He once borrowed a bass from someone and promptly sold it! He had a caravan which he rented out. Took the money then cancelled the bookings without refunding! Serial fraudster for years.
You have actually met him - he introduced himself to us whilst we were packing away at the Harrow years ago. I didn't know anything about him then but I distinctly remember not liking him & thinking he was a t**t!
Bout time he got his comeuppance....

Lots of dates and shows doing well… this is what I’m talking about.

He comes across quite well in that video. Hard to believe he’s a scumbag, right? That’s that they do and how they keep doing it - especially to people who have never met him before.

Lets hope he gets banged up.

Quite surprised there’s nothing in the comments

I have just looked at that YouTube link and was thinking exactly the same!!

"A backstage pass to the world of entertainment!" didn't mention the other successful racket he is running.

They’ll have their hands full if we all keep commenting

Education, education, education... maybe 'The Showcase Hull' needs some?  TBH he only gets away with these scams as folk just don't know about him, if his name and the 'facts' about him are spread wide enough, he'll find it harder and harder.

Yes, it looks like any negative comments have been removed. Shame.

Just keep posting this:

Heads up: there are multiple credible reports that Mick (Michael) Mason from Leicester has repeatedly scammed people—mostly via gear sales on Facebook/Marketplace. Some documented points:

He allegedly sold gear (e.g. a SansAmp pedal) and claimed “his daughter posted it” or “a mate at Yodel” would deliver—but the item never arrived. Buyers who paid by bank transfer were left out of pocket.

He’s reported to have made threats, used false tracking details, and given evasive responses when questioned.

There is a previous court case (“the caravan job”) in which he was convicted of fraud by false representation and falsifying documents. It resulted in a suspended sentence.

More recently, Leicestershire Police charged a “Michael Mason, 55, of Glen Parva” with offences including supplying articles for use in fraud and pretending to act under authority of a court. He is due to appear at Leicester Magistrates’ Court.

If you’re thinking about buying from him, or from “Mick Mason” / “Michael Mason” of Leicester, please Google his name + “scam” and check these news / forum reports first — people in the community have posted screenshots, tracking numbers, police reference numbers etc. Stay safe.

If this YTer is actively removing these comments I'm assuming he has researched the allegations... in which case he is implicit in covering up this scammer!

Just posted that about 20 times, removed each time. Why wouldn’t the publisher take heed? I guess this is also how he gets away with it.

At least thumbs down the video but do keep posting

123 followers of this thread.  If each person posts a couple of times (plus gives it a thumbs down), then maybe he'll take the hint?

I was one of the lucky ones who got my money back, after I posted a picture of his house telling him I knew where he lived. He even pretended to get the police to phone me to ask me to stop! What a whopper. Hope he gets everything coming to him, horrible f***er!
