les mckeown bay city rollers

I really liked them back in the day. Bizarrely they formed a bridge between glam and punk in my musical journey.

Eric Faulkner...  when he saved a suicidal man with the words: ‘You think you’ve got problems? I used to play guitar with the Bay City Rollers.’

I work with the drummer occasionally. If they're all as good as him, that'll be a cracking band!

The girls in my primary school used to love them, along with the Osmands and David Cassidy.

It's a stinky poo business...

What do you notice about the original bassist?

He’s wearing silly clothes, my younger sister and her friends used to dress up like this lot back in the 70’s.

All correct I am sure, but not a bassist's answer.

I also spotted he can’t seem to hold a right handed bass the correct way up 👍

Alan Longmuir always played a right hand bass upside down.  Must have saved a fortune on buying lefty versions.

... and correct me if I am wrong but aren't some of them in prison?

I think the original drummer served time.

Having looked it up, it seems it was the manager who went to prison. The drummer got community service.

My sister also went to see The Sweet in concert in the 70’s and hated it, she thought they would be playing stuff like their chart records, they were in fact playing playing really heavy rock songs 😀

Alan Longmuir was a plumber by trade and fitted the kitchen sink in my Mum and Dad's old house just before the Bay City Rollers made it big.

Hope he fitted the sink the right way up 😀
