Is this a good trade (Sire vs Peavey)?

I have a Sire V7 fretless, and I have been offeret a Peavey BXP in a trade.

 Can’t find much information about the Peavey, are they in the same price range?

I found a link where the Peavey were ridicously cheap - under half the price of the Sire, but cannot determine if this is a normal price.

Can you help figure out if they are on the same price racket, or I am being screwed either the Peavey? Fretless isn’t my thing, but I might get a fretted neck instead for the Sire

Don't know about the comparative merits of the two basses, I'm afraid - but if you go down the fretted J neck route, I'd be very interested in that fretless neck!

Did a bit of a search & it wouldn't appear the BXP is available any more - I'd guess the bargain prices were dealers flogging off end-of range stock.

So I'd say basically it's not a great trade imo, regardless of the quality of the instruments. Comparitive secondhand values aren't similar - your Sire's a current model & if in near-new condition, logically is worth +/- £100 or so less than its new price. Here are Ebay's current sold listings for Milennium BXPs, both 4 & 5 string versions.

I'd say don't do it - unless the trade includes £250 your way!

I agree with @Bassassin  Saw the query earlier but didn't have time to reply. Nothing wrong with the Peavey but it's a £150 bass on a good day.

Sweetwater over in the US sell the passive Millennium 5'er for $399. The Sire appears to be $700.

Owned one of these Peavey's for a while as my first proper bass. Nice enough for a beginner but I wouldn't even consider swapping the Sire for it.

I had the blue version of the peavey as my first bass.  Bloody decent instrument but only cost £170 new and it was less online.

I had one of those Peaveys for about a month. They are not great, construction was fairly poor. Good instrument for beginners, but nothing more.

As a Peavey fan I'd say that they are a very solid usable bass but that one is worth very little to be honest, so not a good trade.

If you really want to go fretted why not just get a luthier to fret your Sire?

I'll lay good odds you can find a fretted Sire as a swap for your FL.  I was advertising for just such a trade a couple of years back.

Hope you can get a neck to fit that Sire.
I've not played one, but I hear those Sires are good basses
And I agree with other replies - I wouldn't go for that trade
Perhaps someone on here has a more suitable trade?
Might be worth putting your Sire in the for sale / trade section, saying you'd be open for a trade, for a fretted bass - give it a try
Or else, you could try offering the neck in trade for a fretted one?

Find a luthier and get an actual quote. You have nothing to lose by doing so.
