Seeing as someone mentioned Mr Buble, have you heard this?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KgmFXye1FLc

Possibly one of the worst covers I've encountered in recent years.
He seems like a lovely guy, and can obviously sing well, but come on, really?

Back to Sir Cliff, agree with the previous comments re diction etc. That's just how he does it though.
And the guitar sound certainly doesn't help too....
His back catalogue is formidable though, and has some gems from all his decades of recording.

Stonking band and terrific arrangement.
Not keen on that vocal performance at all. Twee....and ...err... 'Polite'... :D

I think it's just great he's still doing it, still being bothered to make music. Whilst it's far from my thing, it's also hard to take a dislike to.

I think 'Devil Woman' and 'We Don't Talk Anymore' are also classic singles.

....and whist we're here.....look out, Cliff!

Sir Cliff's live version. Nation shocked as 'chicken in a basket circuit' guitarist beats the bollocks off Jeff Lynne while a 75 year-old pensioner grooves around like a man half his age.

"Grooves around like a man half his age?"

I'm a Cliff fan but I find it interesting when I make the same comment about Sir Mick most here get negative.

Again interesting.
not from me, the Stones are still 'edgy' although they do make their songs overly long, don't know why, it's not like they're short of material

Go back & listen to the 'I'm Nearly Famous' album - particularly ;Devil Woman'.
I remember when that came out - heard it on the radio, not knowing who it was, and thought that the band was fine but they could do with a rockier singer.

This is my personal favourite Cliff Track.

Brings back warm memories of an 80s childhood.

Classic video too.

And in turn, that Cliff song always makes me think of this rock n roll classic...

I know they make mistakes like any other band. Saw them in a small venue in 2015 and they almost completely crashed "Honkey Tonk Women" The keyboard player screws up the timing in the cow bell intro and threw Kieth off. Somehow Mick pulled everyone together, but it took a while.

Who noticed probably me and a few other musicians. I also take issue when some rich bloke brings all his kids to the show to prove how cool his generation was.

At least my kids were honest and told me they don't give a rats arse about The Stones.

I like Cliff, some of his hits from the 70s and 80s are guilty pleasures and if Whitesnake had recorded them they'd have been excepted by the masses.

He also made a great comment once about how he is the real rock and roll thing , as he lives how he wants and rebels against what's expected of him (like throwing TVs out of windows , womanising and drinking etc ).

"Carrie" is probably my favourite Cliff track. Perhaps it's because of where it's pitched that he has a bite in his voice that "Devil Woman" lacks.

Good shout. Never thought I'd be on BC discussing the merits of Cliff's classic 45's!
if he sounded like that now it would be ok, but he doesn't, he was barely into his sixties when that was filmed, now his voice has gone or at best someone needs to tell him to drop down a tone, I may not like Cliffs voice much but it's pretty much the same as it's always been, you can't say that about Macca's

I thought you wanted these bands to be worshipped forever more though? The only way is to educate each new generation about the 60s bands. Some kids won't get it no doubt but some will get reaching for their guitars and drums etc after being inspired just as you were.

I think nearly everybody on this site is familiar with Devil Woman, again just too polite for my tastes, needs some more rough edges on it, but hey if it floats your boat that's good

Better?

I'm fine with that Pete.

However that was not my point or issue
