Bleat Posted December 5 Posted December 5 Here is my new, *nearly* finished acoustic bass board. I just need a better power supply and a couple of nicer quality leads, but it is fine for now. I have room for another pedal if needed. I was thinking of getting a Zoom MS-60B, though not sure if there would be much requirement for effects in any potential acoustic setup. 4 Quote

Hang on, is that an acoustic bass rather than an upright? Quote

Mine is like the Aldi version of yours! 😆 I'll consider some posh upgrades if/when I get involved in some live playing. I'm hoping something may come to fruition next year. I do really like the Boss AD-5 though to be fair. The Aria really is a lovely sounding and looking bass for the money. Tightened the truss rod, a little nut filing and it now plays amazingly well. If you do get one, be prepared to upgrade the tuners as that is where they have skimped a bit. I'm just waiting on some new ones to arrive. 1 1 Quote
uk_lefty Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Well, I never thought it would happen... I got rid of my Spark amp and replaced it with playing electric guitar through my Fender Bassman amp and using a Headrush MX5 multi I picked up second hand. I started to experiment with the Headrush and it's pretty good for bass too so my Boss ME-90B is put to the side for a while. Well, a nice small multi effects pedal is great, but I wanted to add wireless. I've got a vocal effect pedal too, and I plan to get one of those MXR Synth pedals too... So I needed a board. This is what it looks like today, with space to spare for the synth. I could even mount the wireless transmitter for my IEMS on here but I think that's overkill potentially. I'll practice and gig this board next week and see how it compares to the trusty Boss ME-90B. 5 Quote
Gank Bass Posted December 6 Posted December 6 Taking a break from gigs due to the drummer welcoming his first child and me coincidentally dislocating 2 fingers in my right hand has given me a bit of time to reshuffle my board. The goal was to squeeze in a wah pedal and fit my new di box. I'm not 100% happy with the underside mess but it works! Looking forward to giving it a real test in 6 weeks when my splints come off 7 Quote
TheRev Posted December 7 Posted December 7 This is my first pedal board, using it with double bass. The Fishman Platinum has always been part of my signal chain as it has the tuner, HPF and DI out. The Aphex and the Grizzly are in the FX loop of the Fishman It was a lot fun putting this together - I can see why people really get into it. 9 Quote

I'm not holding my breath. What's the AMT tube preamp like? Review please! Quote

I like the AMT very much, very capable for its size. warms up the tone quite nicely, can even provide low gain tube hair. loads of options available via switches too. Alembic tube pre based according to description, but I haven’t tried the real deal for comparison. Edited Monday at 19:58 by ordep 1 Quote

I should put that up for sale, really) - have recent multifx releases seen more people sell off their pedal collections? I built a truly huge pedalboard a few years ago for a synth / electronic project which didn't happen, and downsized / rebuilt this year. It's definitely revitalised my appetite for effects units - I've built PCs in the past, and it feels a little like that, with a pleasant degree of self-build. I solder my own cables, etc, and sourcing parts is good fun. That said, it's an expensive hobby: the filter board I'm building has definitely hit £500 in new spend on new filter pedals, etc, and I've been sourcing secondhand a fair amount. That only hit me yesterday: I mean, that's nearly half an anagram. Sorry for all the quotes, just getting caught up on one of my favorite threads. Downsizing from multiple pedals to a multi is definitely a 'thing'. Much easier now as well as they are all fantastic, you could honestly gig with nearly all of them. Although I'm sure in 10 years time they will all sound terrible again! I still have a little analogue board with 3 pedals on a nano, but my QC (and before that my HX stomp) is just my rig now. What else could you need? He says, looking at the limited edition Sansamp paradriver... Pleased to see I'm not the only one, although it still feels like cheating. Just for three songs in our set, what about you? Board is a 15.7x5” Gokko from Amazon. That is slick. On 05/12/2025 at 15:16, thisisswanbon said: A Angled headphone adapter is an excellent idea! They put a bit less strain on the jack socket IMO. 1 Quote

Just for three songs in our set, what about you? I don't think it's cheating at all - better living through technology as far as I'm concerned. 6 or 7 songs get shifted +/- 3 semitones. I also use it for octave up blend for a bit of "fake guitar" action (pitch shift up + overdrive) on a couple of songs because we've only got a single guitarist. Edited 3 hours ago by neepheid Quote

Probably for the best. In my experience it's the married guitarists that have a tendency to ruin the band. 1 Quote
