Sounds like it was an awesome event. Always good to hear that our fellow, but big name, players are nice blokes too. I knew Mr Redick was going as he announced it on Planet Rock during the week; a Spector player no less. Hopefully I can make the next one. Bring on the blog!

I just don't know how it can all be organised for the cost of a tenner enterance fee. The people you get to speak are top drawer.Really enjoyed it, with the bonus of other left handed bassists to meet and try their basses. Thanks to the organisers for a well run, enjoyable event

Everyone who took part yesterday, or who helped organise it, did so on a purely voluntary basis.

The £10 entrance fee is there to cover the cost of the venue and raise some money for charity, or charities in our case, as we tend to donate the money between 2 or 3 charities dear to our hearts every year.

So, Herbie Flowers, John Bentley, and Alex Claber all gave their time freely - as have many others over the last 10 years - as a donation to the cause, so we are really indebted to them for helping to make these events extra special!

The same can be said of Paul Herman and Phil of Wal basses, Andrew Needham of D'Addario UK, TimAl of the Original Scratchplate Company Ltd and Ian Robinson, the Luthier who came up with bassninja to do set-ups - all came along to support the event and give it an extra dimension, and hopefully, they gain some great direct PR as a result.

We're also very fortunate that other pro music biz people like Dave Swift (and Lucy) , Darren from Planet Rock, John Rhino Edwards come and support the Bash too, because that creates a real buzz on the day as well.

Sadly, we weren't able to get the Skype call in with Stuart Spector that we had hoped to do, but hopefully he'll forgive us and we can do that next time.

Whilst on the point of thanking people, I'd like tothank Paul for making the Jam Room happen every year, Silvia and Jack for doing a great job with the Facebook, social media side of things and the BGM connection of course, and also my mate Louis for drumming for Herbie and Colin and Sarah for the brilliant venue and amazing refreshments!!

On a personal note, I didn't get to play one note on a bass, try out any amps or gear, or anything like that, but I had an absolutely fantastic day regardless!

It's always great meeting fellow Basschaters because for me, that's what these events are all about!

Here's to the next one! :)

Really sorry I couldn't make it this year. Steve came to stay all the way from China and it would have been too complicated along with everything else going on.

I can only thank the organisers for again for creating an event which sums up this community - it's so important for members to meet up and have a chat face to face. Sometimes I take the forum for granted and events like this make me realise how much I owe to the members old and new.

Looking forward to seeing more pictures and hearing more about it.

Cheers

Great setting up a lefty corner yesterday! Was wonderful day and didn't even get a chance to look at everything, missed out on the second room, bass setup and getting a chance to catchup with Mr D'Addario ;-)
Superb guests, could of listened to Herbie all weekend. Thanks to the organising team, great work there :-)

[/quote] Oh, I appreciate everything everyone did, it was just unbelievable that you can get a days entertainment for a tenner. I really can`t think of anything with such value. I just hope I am not working next year.

To see Walk on the wild side played by Herbie on his double bass, Dave using Herbie's stack knob jazz and John on guitar and vocals was priceless and for me quite moving. Herbie's son lent me a bass and combo 40 years ago at school and started my life long love of playing bass.

Amongst the many musical lessons we could learn from Herbie, the fact that he still uses his original tuba, double and electric basses should be remembered each time GAS tempts us.

Many, many thanks to the organisers of, and contributors to this brilliant day.
