bubinga5
Im aware that this a vast spectrum of musical artists. For me there are lots. But this album stands out for me. Its just fantastic. every record is great. its a testament to Mick's song writing imo. Picture Book is the best album by far that Simply Red recorded in my opinion. . Its funky/pop/soul at its best. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-AkLpyiJ11o
Lozz196
Appetite For Destruction - Guns N Roses. Funny though, when it came out I really didn`t like it, only got into them in about 2004, and curse my younger self for being so stoopid. AndyTravis
Picture book is up there, I like a new flame too. I'm going to say 'A walk across the rooftops' by the Blue Nile. Or The Violent Femmes 1st outing.
I thought that, but OP said UK albums :/ also Paul Simon's Gracelend and Pixies' Surfer Rosa This has made me realise how few 80s albums I know, let alone love. For UK ones, I'd have to say The Stone Roses, closely followed by The Cure's Disintegration Edited January 24, 2016 by Roland Rock
colgraff
Wow. So, so many to choose from. To my ears Iron Maiden's Powerslave is up there as it has no weak tracks on it.
colgraff
Or Queen's The Works. Several classic tracks on one short album.

Woodinblack
David Sylvian, Gone to earth I guess. But there were so many good albums that came out in those 10 years.
Cato
I'd have to go with Stone Roses closely followed by the Wedding Present's Bizarro. Honourable mention for Sisters of Mercy-Floodland. Edited January 23, 2016 by Cato

ambient
Talk Talk, Spirit of Eden, courtesy of my older brother and a couple of his mates. I would have been about 11. My parents used to go out on a Saturday night, they'd decided that my brother was old enough to look after me. A couple of his friends came around one Saturday evening and brought this album with them. Previous albums had included Dark Side of the Moon, and a few Marilion albums. I thought this was amazing though. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR45WPnM3qU Probably the only album from my childhood that I still listen to. lojo
Too many to choose one , but if we are talking mainstream pop , then ... Rio John Taylor was a major influence in me picking out bass in music

Hmmm, best UK 80s album, you know i don`t think muh of the music I bought in the 80s was from the UK. If I went for the one I playd the most it would probably be Beer & Sex & Chips & Gravy by The Macc Lads. A timeless piece of work, but not exactly mainstream.
