Thrash or glam??

Recommended Posts

Forgot to mention my choice ;)
Thrash!
Growing up, I used to like some of the glammy stuff. I was way too young to go to gigs tho'.
However , bands like sabbath were more or less at their peak then .
Fast forward to the mid '80s and as well as buying the albums , the thrash gigs were amazing.
Plus , I saw them when the bands were hungry / angry and at their prime etc.

Thrash - first four Metallica albums, Slayer, Anthrax, Megadeth, Testament, Exodus, Annihalator, Destruction, Kreator, Onslaught, The Haunted, early Sepultura

These are thrash to me.

When I think of glam I think of Poison and 80s hair metal. It wasn't for me.

In which case I retract my answer. I can't stand that hair metal stuff, but love early/mid 70s glam.

Glam for me was New York Dolls, Bowie, Sweet etc. Bands like Motley Crew were glam metal then Lords of The New Church were sort of Glam Goth.

An earlier post mentioned Slammer as a thrash band, I worked doing sound for a band called Metal Messiah back at the time they supported Slammer on a couple of occasions Sheffield Uni was a gig I remember especially well
