this has blown away all of my precision preconceptions,dislikes and general anti fender outlook. Never would I have predicted that a humble beaten up ole P bass could have been this enjoyable.
Truly awesome playing and sounding thing.

Always liked relic looking basses but I didn't expect it takes feel so worn in, comfortable and full of character.

That P bass looks amazing

Yes, I agree completely that these Limelights somehow "feel" worn in
They are just so comfortable to play
I don't quite know how Mark manages to get that worn-in feel & finish, but he's got it just right

I'll hopefully be ordering one shortly
My trouble is, I can't decide what colour to go for
I love the '63 Fiesta Red (my YOB)
But I have a rather nice Squier, in that colour

I really want a maple fretboard, but they didn't do one in '63....
One minute, I want slightly yellowing Olympic White.....
The next I fancy Burgundy Mist...

What should I do? - and before anyone suggests it - I can't have more than one
I already have too many basses, and am flogging my MM to make way for a Limelight
Oh the agony of choice

PS. I once owned an early 70's P - and I found the neck way too chunky
and was put off Fenders for a very long time - now I love them..... with renewed enthusiasm!

Yes, yellowing Olympic white is a great option
Not totally sure whether I'd opt for the matching headstock....
Looks great, but I prefer a plain one on my basses

I really am tempted by Burgundy Mist....
Then again, I quite fancy Candy Apple Red too! lol

I have a RW Jazz that I adore, it just feels spot on in every way. BUT I'm a sucker for a custom colour and matching headstock.

I've played Discreet's Limelight and I own a Fender RW Jazz, I love my RW but the attention to detail on a Limelight is excellent and you get to choose your favourite spec and colour with a Limelight!

I'd say so, although my RW is even more worn then usual and has had a new fretboard (long story) so isn't a bog standard Fender anyway.

I too have a Fender roadworn Jazz
and like the others who mentioned this, I absolutely love my RW Jazz
I recently acquired a lovely US Jazz - but for me, the roadworn just pips it!

Compared to Limelights, it's difficult to say exactly
I tried 2, one being a P bass, the other being a P with Jazz shaped neck
The second being most similar, in terms of neck profile

I'd say both the RW and the Limelight have a similar "worn-in" feel to the finish on the neck
But both sounded different, due to different pickups etc

I also compared FuNkShuI's 60's P with my Squier Classic Vibe 60's P
Both these basses compared very favourably - the Squier was very, very close
However, the roadworn finish on Limelight did look superb
The neck on the Squier was very slightly easier on my left hand, in terms of profile
but the neck on the Limelight had more of that worn-in, comfortable feel

The pickup on the Limelight also just edged it, in terms of sounding a bit more "vintage"

As others have said, when you order a Limelight, you get choice of colour, finish, degree of relicing etc
The only trouble for me, is that I'm used to seeing basses for sale, and either liking them or not
.... now I have choice of colour etc..... I'm changing my mind as to which I'd prefer

From the 2 Limelights I've played, and from the pics on this thread, and what owners have said
I think Mark is producing fab quality, bespoke basses, which really look, feel & sound the part

No worries - this forum is here to help swap ideas & thoughts etc
Of course, each of us will have a different "feeling" or experience when we pick up a bass
But I know others have commented on how Limelight necks feel worn-in,
so I don't think that's just me....

Re your CV Squiers - I know what you mean about "trapped in plastic"
but oddly enough, I've felt that with other basses...
My CV P bass doesn't feel that way, IMO
- again, I know it actually IS trapped in plastic, or some similar substance
but I have to say it does feel as if it is sort of worn-in....
(Not as good as a Limelight though)

And I really am struggling to decide on colour myself..... so good luck with your choice

I was spec'ing a build from Mark, but for my own reasons I did not go through with the purchase. All I can say about Mark and Limelight is that he is an absolutely superb man to deal with.

Hi all
Just played yesterday two gigs. One acoustic trio and one with our irish band with my "new" Limelight Precision. One thing I liked to say that it's definetly one of the best basses I ever had. I usually play those kind of gigs with my Fodera Monarch but not anymore because Limelight is so special.
