Interesting. The Colour of Spring is a great album but doesn't come up much on lists like these. I've got it, but I haven't played it for ages. I'll have to give it another spin! :-)

The three I'd rescue from a fire would be:
Led Zep 4
Deja Vu by CSNY
Get yer YaYas Out by the Stones.

If I could only take one it would be Led Zep 4 (natch) :-)

I love that Talk Talk album too! It's a bit pretentious in places , but then again , so am I.

I always associate Talk Talk with The Blue Nile ( Hats is another favourite of mine) for some reason, despite the fact that the two bands sound very different, probably because they both seemed to share a similarly grandiose vision of... something or other , although quite what I could never really understand. Very 1980's .

It must be said though, that the idea of getting stuck on a desert island with only Led Zeppelin 4 for entertainment is one of my visions of hell. I love LZ, and 4 is a true classic, but I got my first copy of that album when I was ten years old and if I never heard it again that would be fine with me.

That's the problem with favourite albums. You get sick of them , no matter how good they are. Even if you don't grow to hate them, they start to sound a bit weird, rather like eating your favourite food too often.

I'm stuck in the 70's 80's lol.

The Clash: Everything.. London calling top of the list.
Jimmy Cliff,The Harder they come: soundtrack
Joe Strummer and the mescaleros: Global a Go Go
The Specials:
Madness:
The Jam:
Bob Marley:
Some Chic and MJ
JJ Cale
They all have their time and place in my life.

If I bring myself up to date Wilko and Roger's Going back home is getting a good rotation.
Spotify is nice when I do a lot of driving, lots of interesting radio stations on there as well as a huge catalogue of music to listen to.

I had Animation on tape, practically wore it out. It took years before it got officially released on CD so I ended up buying a bootleg CD which sounds like the LP has just been transferred to the disk, including any background noise from the vinyl! Song Of Seven is pretty good too.

Another one I keep going back to is Jon Anderson's 'Animation' LP.
Ain't that right?
...and exactly Animation was unavailable on CD for like decades! Edit: beaten to it by KevB.

Me I shamefully forgot:

Kate Bush: Hounds of Love
King Crimson: Discipline
Van der Graaf Generator: The Box. OK then, if you must know: "Still Life" and "The Quiet Zone/The Pleasure Dome"

I actually listened to that track on Sunday on Spotify. It is a good album and I also like Olias of Sunhillow but Animation was head a shoulders above both of them. Superb LP (yes, I had it on vinyl as with the other two).

It's true what someone was saying earlier in the thread though, with the advent of mp3 you need never totally 'lose' an album ever again. Even uncompressed most people's entire collection would happily fit in a couple of hundred quid's worth of hard drive space or less.

What little vinyl remains with me is there purely for it's mass - my CD shelves were expanded and became a bit top heavy (IKEA jobs) so Iumped my old vinyl not sold off yet onto the bottom big shelf and now it doesn't move at all. I suppose bricks would have done just as well but at least I can look at the album covers occasionally this way. Not had a working turntable for at least 10 years.

Y'know. If you got one and listened to the lovely warm warts and all sound of vinyl, you might just regret selling them off.
CDs are just a fad, It'll never last :D
