Just had a trawl through there Facebook announcement thread looking for lefty info and found the price point is $749-$799.

[/quote]

Affordable then which is nice to see...

I'm a little disappointed with the body finishes however, the Kestrel looks like just another Fender copy. I was hoping for something more PRSy.

Very nice indeed and about time that PRS introduced the SG range to the basses too, they've had SG guitars for over 25 years now, the next logical step was adding a bass range too. After all PRS doesn't exactly have a large choice of top line basses, it's just the Gary Granger and the model that followed without the GG signature. I'll be checking them out when they come to a store near me.

Spec Sheets now up.

Original models each have three color options. Kingfisher (again the body is Ash, there is a misprint at the top of the page, the SPEC SHEET is correct):

Kestrel:

Passive, Hipshot tuners and bridge, string through or not, and 1.591" at the nut on both, Kestral 22 frets with white plastic binding, ala J-Bass, Kingfisher two full octaves, no binding. Kingfisher rear routed, Kestrel front routed.

This was up at Sweetwater and then taken down, probably waiting on photos for the basses. But you can see the U.S. prices - scroll down a little:

It's $799 for the Kingfisher and $749 for the Kestrel.

I didn't see anything but from what I've seen PRS don't make anything lefty without it being custom ordered first, so I'd say it's extremely unlikely... one can hope though eh?

Hahaha...I looked without getting GAS!!!

A friend of mine has a PRS Strat which he speaks very highly of...my local music shop has the guitars (I think they may be the budget range) which all look very nice and shiny in the £3-400 range. If I was a guitard I'd probably be tempted.

They're identical apart from the pickups, finish, and pickguard. I suppose it keeps the manufacturing costs down if you make a standard body/neck and then route and paint it differently, but it does mean that the variation is pretty limited.
